Good or Evil
Khushi's POV:
I was in the kitchen preparing food. I saw Shajan coming hurried with tension from the room. He looked at me and sighed with relief. I went to him and held his hand.
"Good morning. What happened to you? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I am okay," Shajan said.
"Are you worried assuming that I left you?" I said smiling at him.
"No, I know well you won't leave me. Because you know well what would happen if you left me," Shajan said.
"You will be hurt again, if I leave you. Nothing more would happen other than that," I said.
"Come to our room. I need to talk to you," Shajan said and I went to the room with him.
"Yes, please tell me," I said.
"Shut up. Don't dare to speak before me. You are not my wife and I won't get hurt if you leave me. I told you not to utter a word before me. I think you forgot my rules," Shajan shouted at me.
"No sir, I am just following your order," I said acting as if I am too scared of him.
"What?"
"Yes, sir. I am just pretending as your wife before the maids. I am just your maid in our room," I said.
Shajan looked at me irritated at my sarcastic behavior and went calmly to take a shower feeling that it's better to stop the argument with me.
I took a blue suit from the wardrobe and gave it to him after the shower.
"Sir, here is your dress. Everything is ready. You can get fresh up and have your breakfast," I said with much politeness."
"Stop your overaction."
"Actually if I am not a doctor, I would choose acting as my career. Now as I lost my degree as a doctor, I think I can choose acting as my second profession. What do you say?" I said.
"Don’t you fear for me?"
"I am scared of Shajan but not for my husband. I respect you but you can't make me afraid of you. Anyways you are getting late to the office. I prepared breakfast for you," I said.
I was about to leave and Shajan held my hand. He pulled me to him and made me look at his eyes.
"Don’t you miss Abhi? Do you still love Abhi?" Shajan said.
My eyes filled with tears with his question. I tried my best to keep him happy and make sure he felt my love, but still he didn't understand me. He mistook my silence and, as usual, misunderstood me.
"I understand you, Khushi. You still love Abhi," Shajan said and threw her rudely on the bed and went off of the room. I went downstairs wiping my tears. Shajan came downstairs.
"Shajan, please come to have breakfast," I said.
Shajan glared at me.
"I am not hungry," Shajan said.
"I made it for you. After the marriage, I cooked food for the first time," I said.
"So what? I am not bothered and I didn’t ask you to prepare the food," Shajan said and went to his office.
Shajan, you can never understand me. Though you were my best friend in the past, I rejected your love to make you understand and change for the better. But many things happened in my life which I never expected. Even now you don’t know my true feelings.
I went to the temple for peace. While coming back, I saw the patient because of whom my doctor degree was cancelled. I thought he was killed by Shajan to blame me. But he is alive. I called Shajan immediately.
"Khushi, I am busy. I will talk to you after coming to the home," Shajan said and disconnected the call.
I waited for him until the late night.
"I need to talk to you," I said.
"I am tired," Shajan said.
"I saw the person alive today because of whom my doctor degree got canceled," I said and Shajan held my shoulder tightly.
"Who permitted you to go out? Khushi, I didn’t say anything to you when you have visited your dad. But it doesn’t mean you can do anything you want. If you don’t follow my rules, definitely I will kill your family and Abhi.
"Kill them but first kill me."
"Do you think I can’t kill them?"
"Until now I thought you can’t understand me. But today I understood that I didn’t understand you."
"You are right in understanding me. I am not as good as you think."
"I am going to start my profession."
"You are not allowed to go out."
"I will start treating patients through online. I won’t go out without your permission."
"Here is your medical degree," Shajan said, handing an envelope to me.
"Thank you," I said.
Shajan went for dinner and I slept. Shajan woke me up.
"Why didn’t you have anything since the morning? The maid told me," Shajan said.
"I am not hungry," I said.
"Are you angry at me for not having breakfast prepared by you? Don’t behave as a kid. Come and have something," Shajan said.
"It's ok. I am sleepy. Good night."
"Khushi, I am not requesting you. I don’t know to request. It's my order. Come and have food right now," Shajan shouted at me.
Saying this Shajan caught my hand and brought me forcefully to the dining table.
Shajan turned to the maid.
"You can go," Shajan said.
"Khushi, where is the food prepared by you for me?"
"May be in the kitchen. I don’t know."
Shajan went to the kitchen and heated the food. He had that food with me.
"It's not tasty. It's spoiled. I cooked it in the morning. Please leave it."
"It's tasty. Stop worrying about me and have your food."
I had my food and going to the room through the stairs. I was about to fall due to drowsiness and weakness. Shajan caught me and took the room by lifting me in his arms. He dropped me on the bed and I looked at me.
"Now, should I force you to sleep?" Shajan said.
I came to my senses with his shouting.
"No need, I am already sleepy. Good night," I said and slept off.
The next day, I was in the kitchen and Shajan called me.
"Khushi, you no need to do all these works. Do what you want. But don’t act. I hate acting."
"Don’t you love me?"
"I don’t love you. I married you just for revenge. You can’t change me," Shajan said.
Even if I can't change you, my love will change you for sure.
"Okay. Let's see," I said smiling at me.
Shajan was about to leave but remembered something and stopped.
"Have food on time. I am going to have breakfast now. But don’t prepare it from tomorrow."
I looked at him with a smile and he went off to the office.
