Chapter 49: Eunice

Fuck?

Two members of SeQret are down but Nanette is injured. Zinger, apparently and expectedly, used a knife to stab Nanette’s right leg. She’s wincing in pain as Mona assisted her to come near us.

Her right inner leg is bleeding profusely. Mona ripped Nanette’s pants where the wound is and applied pressure to control the bleeding.

“I hate that bitch!” Nanette seethed with anger.

I know. I hate her too.

I looked at Zinger who was already smiling in triumph while she looked at us. Now, I won’t hold back anymore. Since they used a knife, I might as well give them a good fight.

“Are you next, Gemini?” Zinger said menacingly as she expertly maneuvered the knife on her hand.

I glared at her. “Satan really doesn’t play fair, huh?” I said as I picked up a long and thick PVC pipe on the ground.

Zinger looked at me with widened eyes. She isn’t used to me using any weapon during fights. None of us in Astra uses one. We fight with our strength. We fight with our bodies.

But right now, I have reached a limit.

A knife could kill a life. But I don’t want any of these SeQret members to die. Dying is easy. Living…is harder.

“You’re not going to use that!” Zinger screamed in fear as I played with the pipe in my hand.

I looked at her, shaking my head. She has the guts to fear me now? She has a knife! And how dare she act like an innocent kitten right now?

Bitch!

“Dipper!” Mitch called out.

I looked at my friends and saw that Nanette is now unconscious.

“Shit! She’s losing too much blood!” Mona exclaimed.

I gritted my teeth and immediately lunged at Zinger. I didn’t know what I would do but I know that I am so determined to bring her down. She’s going to pay for what she did to Nanette!

“Gemini, behind you!” Mitch called out and I quickly looked behind me and there I saw Ice already about to attack me with a thick wooden stick.

I hastily hit her on her stomach with the pipe I am holding. She winced in pain as she stumbled on the ground.

“Ice!” Zinger yelled as she saw her friend on the floor.

Ice looked up at me and glared even with her pained expression. She’s always acting like this—tough and strong. But she isn’t. She is not the best in this field. I know.

I hit Zinger on her back when she was on her way to Ice. She thought I would wait until she could help her friend? I won’t. She stabbed Nanette who is already unconscious now.

And I will let her pay for it.

Zinger tumbled on the ground, dropping her knife far from her. I immediately took that chance to jump on her and punch her senseless. She will be unconscious but that’s because of the contusion. She will wake up just fine. But Nanette? She lost a lot of blood and the least I can do for my friend is to avenge her distress.

“Zinger!” Ice called and yanked me by my shoulder, making me fall on the ground beside the unconscious Zinger.

Ice punched me as she locked my body in between her legs. I tried to push her off me but she was adamant in punching me. I used my arms as my shield as I kicked her back making her fall off me.

I took that chance to get up and tower over her, punching her juts like what I did to her friend.

“Stop this illusion that you will ever beat me, Ice. Stop it,” I told her when I was contented with all the punches I have thrown.

Ice lied on the ground, almost out of consciousness. She’s almost in stupor and couldn’t even speak.

I wanted so bad to remove her masks but I stopped myself. I don’t think there is a need for me to know who these disgusting people are in real life. I don’t want to burden myself in knowing their true identities.

“Gemini!” Mitch said. “I called the ambulance. We have to go…” she told me.

I nodded and was about to go there when I heard a gun sound from the direction where the Glyph-Ventrex rumble is happening.

“Shit!” Mona exasperated. “That was a fucking giveaway!” she said.

I turned around and was about to walk towards the men when Mitch held my hand. “No!” she shook her head vehemently. “That’s a fight against men.”

I narrowed my eyes. I don’t even know why I am feeling this affected that I heard a gun sound.

“But their lives could be at risk!” I explained.

Mitch shook her head. “Please, Eunice. Nanette is down… I couldn’t risk another one of us in a near-death situation…” she was pleading but I couldn’t stop worrying.

I smiled and nodded. “I will just look.” I replied.

Mitch looked at me intently. “Eunice…” she hissed.

“I will not interfere…” a lie that I know she knows. I will interfere if I feel like there is a breach going on there.

Mitch let out a deep breath. I know she’s already resolute. “Don’t get hurt.”

I smiled and nodded. “I will not, Andromeda.”

Mitch nodded at me before going to Mona to help her carry Nanette to a farther place where they told the ambulance that they are.

I walked towards the men and was shocked to see that only two are up. It’s Night Train and Stallion. They are standing in front of each other. Night Train is holding a gun. Shit! He’s the one who shot the gun? Asshole!

Stallion stilled when he saw me. I narrowed my eyes at me. Why? Is he worried about the members of SeQret who are all incapacitated?

I stood beside Night Train. “Why are you using a gun?” I asked him with conviction.

Night Train looked at me and smirked. I stilled. Why does that seem so familiar?

“Kyle Kim?” I asked.

Night Train’s eyes widened. “You know me?” he asked.

Fuck! I never thought that he was involved in these kinds of things. Not to mention, he’s holding a gun! Is he licensed to have one? I doubt! Because he’s still a law student, he doesn’t and couldn’t own a gun license.

“Drop the gun.” I told him.

“Who are you?” he asked.

I gulped. Stupid, Eunice. Why would you say his name out loud?!

“Doesn’t matter. Drop the gun and fight fair!” I exclaimed at him. Fuck! I hate cheaters! I loathe them and I wish they never existed!

Kyle Kim’s jaw clenched. “This is underground, Gemini. There are no rules. There is no justice. And everything is unfair!” he replied in a voice seething in anger as he aimed the gun at Stallion.

Stallion just looked at me. Why is he looking at me?

And damn, why is my heart beating so fast?

“Do you know how much I hated your existence?” Kyle Kim asked at Stallion. His voice was filled with anger and bitterness.

He’s pure evil! No wonder Josiah never wanted me to be close to him. And I’m so relieved I didn’t waste my time on him.

Stallion smirked and I felt like my heart is about to fall out of my chest. His smirk is so familiar…but I can’t admit it to myself. No.

“When I shot you and kill you tonight, I’m going to remove that mask of yours and laugh at your dead face!” Kyle Kim roared as he pulled the trigger.

My eyes widened. “Josiah!” I called.

Stallion smiled weakly at me as he fell down. His jaw clenched as he fell on his back.

I ran towards him and immediately cupped his face.

“Baby…” he called me. He slowly raised his hand to my face. “I’m sorry…” he said weakly. “Forgive me…if…I can’t…protect you…”

I shook my head. “No…” I sobbed.

Tears are already brimming in my eyes I watched my husband’s bleeding chest.

I held his chest and tried to apply pressure to prevent him from losing a lot of blood. “Josiah…please, hang on…” I begged and I prayed.

Josiah smiled at me. “I love you, Eunice…” he breathed before his eyes closed.

I called his name out loud and cried my heart. I couldn’t see anything anymore. My tears blurred my vision but I was so sure I will kill Kyle Kim tonight.

I lunged at the surprised Kyle Kim and tackled him on the ground. I punched him nonstop no matter how hard he was trying to defend himself.

Die! Die! Die!

It was all I could think of as I threw in punches without ceasing. I want him to die. I want him to suffer!

My heart is full of hatred as I aimed my punches at his face. Thinking about how Josiah looked made me really angry. I can’t stand seeing him like that. But above all, I can’t let Kyle Kim linger around freely after this!

I’ll make sure he will suffer!

“Eunice…” I heard Sage’s voice.

He tapped my shoulder, making me stop. I looked at him and he shook his head. “We need to take Josiah to the hospital…” he said calmly.

I looked at Josiah who was already being carried by Charles, Bradley and Dorian. Stan was already on the phone, calling the medics.

“Let’s go…” Sage told me as he assisted me to stand up.

But right before standing up, I felt my world fading into black…
