Chapter 61 This is Between Us
Alicia was stung by Damian's speculation, which unleashed a pent-up anger deep inside her.
"You bastard!" Alicia opened her mouth and bit down hard on the black wolf's paw resting on her shoulder. At the same time, she lifted her hindquarters, aiming for the sex between his legs, and kicked.
"Ouch!" cried Damian, and his wolf let out a humiliating howl of pain. He hadn't expected the seemingly gentle white wolf to kick him with such force in a split second.
But the pain between his hind legs and the stabbing pain in his heart sobered Damian up a bit. He looked down at the white wolf who had risen to growl at him, realizing that the reason he felt the pain was because of the feelings they shared for each other after he had marked Alicia.
A ray of moonlight squeezed through the gaps between the eucalyptus leaves and landed where Alicia's golden wolf pupils had been. Damian's eyes widened as he watched her golden eyes, purer than pure gold, become moist. The tears glistened in the moonlight and the drops soaked the snow-white fur around her eyes, leaving two dark trails of tears.
Damian returned to his human form and stood naked before the white wolf. Blood spurted from the wound from Alicia's bite. The bright red blood traveled down his arm, past his knuckles, and landed on the ground, making a faint sound that was the only sound in the quiet forest for the moment.
Not knowing how long they stared at each other, Damian took the first step forward, Alicia's wolf was about to turn away the moment he lifted his foot, but Damian's words stopped her in her tracks, "Traitor, you can try to escape."
"If you want to never see Scarlett Pack's name on the pack list again from this night on, then you can try to escape." Damian threatened, his fists clenched at his sides, his jaw clenched, as if to suppress the urge to kill Alicia.
His threat managed to make the white wolf's raised front legs stiffen in the air. He knew the she-wolf cared only for her father and the members of her pack.
"What do you want? Just because I hid something from you? This is between us. It has nothing to do with my father or the members of the pack." Alicia didn't shift back to her human form, but kept her wolf form for the sake of communication with Damian. Seriously, if she said something that upset Damian, she could at least give herself and the baby in her belly a chance to escape. After all, her wolf ran on four legs, and even if Damian had to shift to catch her, it would take some time.
"Hmph! You can see if you're faster at running or if I'm faster at killing your father." Damian said coldly after hearing Alicia's thoughts.
"Shit! Damn you, Damian! Badass! Moody, brute force, crazy, cruel bastard!" Alicia's wolf growled softly at Damian, knowing he could easily hear her thoughts, and she nonchalantly thought of everything in her conscious mind to curse him.
"Moody? Brute force? Very good!" Damian sneered, moving in front of Alicia at such a terrifying speed that Alicia's eyes couldn't keep up. With only his injured right hand, he pinched the white wolf's tail.
The root of the tail was the weak point of most shifters, and Alicia was no exception. The white wolf immediately lost all her strength, not to mention the strength to change back to her human form, she didn't even have the strength to turn around and bite Damian.
"Now you can try to run away. Try running to the side of that dying old loser you think can protect you." Damian said with icy eyes.
The dying old loser? Alicia's eyes widened as she digested the information contained in Damian's threatening words.
"You mean Grandpa? What happened to him? What did you do to him?" Alicia turned back to question Damian.Grandpa and Lee were supposed to be in Europe by now. Why did Damian say he was dying? Did he do something to Grandpa? Did he attack the Golden Moon Pack? If he did that for some reason, what about Tobias and Ellis? Were they okay?
Damian frowned, wondering why the traitor was suddenly worried about Tobias and Ellis; if he really had attacked the Golden Moon Pack, Alpha Martin, or even the entire Wilton family, her first concern should have been that she wouldn't be able to gain the power and status she was about to receive with that damned ring.
"What ring?" Alicia overheard Damian's thoughts. When she heard him mention the ring, she suddenly remembered that Grandpa had given her a Ring of the Upper Moon some time ago. At that time, Grandpa had said that if he held the ring, he would control half of the packs under the Wilton family name.
"You mean the Ring of the Upper Moon? How do you know about it, how could you possibly know about it even if Alpha Ellis doesn't?"
"How could I know? You stupid she-wolf. You never suspected who I was, did you?" Damian loosened his grip because for some reason he was sure Alicia wasn't going to run.
"Suspected what? Tell me. Tell me everything. You promised me you'd tell me everything." Alicia rolled off the floor and sat down, demanding that Damian tell her what she didn't know was the truth.
Inexplicably, her heart was beating very fast, as if the secret Damian was keeping from her was something she couldn't accept.
"Yes. I promised you. But you didn't do what you promised me. Why should I keep my promise to you?" Damian said, contempt in his smile. She betrayed him first, so who was she to ask him to keep his promise to her?
Hearing Damian's thoughts, Alicia's wolf cocked her head, disbelief showing in her golden eyes. Had she made him a promise somewhere, sometime?
Damian's jaw clenched, his fists hanging unclenched at his side. He closed his eyes as if desperately trying to hold something back.
Alicia watched his expression, trying to read what he was thinking through the mate link. But strangely, after she heard him pondering was it true that she really didn't know who I was? or she was just playing dumb.
After that, it was as if there was an invisible barrier between his and her mate link.
It all happened in the space of three seconds, no, maybe four.
What had happened? Why couldn't she hear Damian's thoughts anymore? Alicia thought.
Damian opened his eyes and looked at the white wolf sitting across from him with contempt and hatred in his eyes. He told her, "I won't let you know what I'm thinking, traitor. Now that I have created a barrier of my mind, I can read your thoughts, but you will never know my true thoughts, including my moods."
Alicia bared her fangs at Damian again and lay down in an attack pose. She asked Damian, "How could you do this? This is no longer a mate link, it's you monitoring my thoughts on a one-sided basis. It's against the universal rules.”
"Rules?" Damian half-closed his deep blue eyes and the corners of his mouth turned up in contempt, "I'm the Alpha of the rogues, I can break all the rules. Or rather, I can make all the rules if I want to."
His smile struck fear into her heart. Alicia had never seen him smile so... evil.
"Listen, you little traitor," Damian grunted, “you should hand over the ring of the upper moon to me right now. I might consider keeping you and the wolf pups in your belly. And I will release your father and your pack members."
