CHAPTER 36. Give Mark a son
Paula chuckled and patted Louis' shoulder. "Uncle, don't worry."
After talking to her, Louis turned around and smiled at Mark. "Young Master Aliston, come in to see Paula's mother. I'll buy food for everyone."
Mark smiled softly. His voice was distant. "Thanks mate."
After Louis left, James frowned. "Why do I feel like I know this guy from somewhere else?"
"Have you seen him before?"
Paula, who was walking in front of them, stopped. She turned to look at James. "How is that possible? My uncle rarely comes to town. And if it wasn't for my mom being sick, I wouldn't be here."
James was lost in thought for a moment, then said, "Actually, he seems quite familiar to me."
"Maybe you misunderstood," Mark said softly, to keep James from saying the rest. "We should go in."
It was at that moment that Paula turned and knocked on Mrs. Mayer's bedroom door. "Mum, I'm Paula. I've come to visit you!"
Mrs. Mayer, who was nearly sixty years old, lay still in the hospital bed, her hair beginning to turn white.
When she heard Paula's voice, her tired old eyes suddenly lit up. "Paula."
Paula walked over and sat by Mrs. Mayer's bedside. "Mum, how are you feeling these days?"
"Better."
With a big smile on her face, the old woman lovingly held Paula's hand. "It's been a long time since you came to see me. Are you very busy with your studies?"
At that moment, James invited Mark into the room. Instantly, the atmosphere in the room became tense.
The aura emitted by the man, whose eyes were covered in black silk, caught the old woman's attention as she leaned against the headboard.
She frowned.
"He is..."
Paula took a deep breath and said, "Mum, this is Mark Aliston. I brought him here today because I wanted to tell you that."
"Paula."
Paula hadn't finished speaking when the man in the wheelchair interrupted.
"You and James go first. I'll talk to Mom myself."
"But,"
"Don't worry. She knows how to behave." James pulled Paula's sleeve and led her out of the room.
***
"Nothing will happen, right?"
Outside the room, Paula raised her head for the first time and looked at the closed door in front of her. "Mr. James, why don't you come in and take a look?"
She was very worried.
Her mother was an elderly person who had just recovered from a serious illness. Mark was a tall, dominant man who was blind and paralyzed. They had been in the room for a long time. What exactly were they talking about?
"Don't worry."
Sitting on the bench, James held his mobile phone and happily played games with his friends, dismantling the tower. "Mark knows how to behave."
He had already repeated this four times.
Clenching her hands together, Paula paced the front of the room, worried.
As she was on her sixth round, she heard the living room door open.
"It's out, right?"
James didn't even look up and continued to play his game.
Paula immediately approached Mark. "Are you okay?"
The man, whose eyes were covered by a black silk cloth, smiled gently. "Mum has something to tell you. She asked you to come in."
Paula nodded. She quickly entered the room and closed the door.
"Mum."
Sitting on the side of the bed, Paula held her mom's wrinkled hand. "Did Mark tell you everything? I don't feel guilty about marrying him at all."
Mrs. Mayer looked at the young woman in front of her, who seemed to be acting very cautiously. Then she sighed softly and said, "Mark is a good person. It's just that hatred blinded him.
Then she looked at Paula. "Paula, you are an obedient girl. You will listen to my words, right?"
Paula nodded firmly. "Hmm."
She was willing to do anything so that her mother would not worry and fret over her marriage.
"Give Mark a son."
Mrs. Mayer looked at Paula's beautiful face. "He's not young anymore, and his body is not healthy. It would be nice if you had a child with him now. Maybe your heart will soften a little after having a child."
Paula blushed deeply at Mrs. Mayer's words.
"Mother..." She bit her lip.
"I know. I'll try." Her honest attitude inevitably made Mrs. Mayer laugh.
She patted Paula's head and said, "It's not like you thought it was for an exam. Why are you reacting like this? I mean, you two should do it. Then let nature take its course. It's good for everyone that the baby is coming soon."
Paula blushed and nodded. "Alright."
Seeing Paula become shy, the old woman cautiously asked "Have you already done it with her?"
"We kissed..."
Paula pursed her lips and answered very carefully.
In fact, her aunt had ordered her, since marrying Mark, to do what people did on their wedding night. She should have a baby with Mark as soon as possible.
However, after their wedding night, Paula became upset due to various problems, and Mark often slept in the study. Therefore, the incident was gradually forgotten.
Now that her mom mentioned it again, she remembered that they still hadn't done what a husband and wife should do.
"Paula, since you've decided to spend the rest of your life with him, it's better to have children early in the marriage."
Those were Mom's last words.
Mrs. Mayer told Paula before she left.
Back in Lourith Town, Paula asked Charlotte for a cup of coffee. "If I want to sleep with Mark tonight, what should I prepare?"
"Uff!" Charlotte spit out all the coffee she had just drunk.
"My dear friend, why are you suddenly being so blunt?"
"I promised Senior Aliston that I would give him a great-grandson in two years. If we take nine months of pregnancy, I don't have much time left."
Charlotte laughed loudly. "My God! Paula, you know how to take the initiative!"
Paula looked at Charlotte seriously, as if she were discussing an academic question with her. "During the wedding night, Mark only kissed me briefly and then stopped. Am I really that unattractive?"
Charlotte looked at the young woman in front of her, who was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. "You really are very boring."
She frowned and added, "Anyway, your husband is blind. Even if you were very attractive, he wouldn't be able to see it."
Paula was shocked. She suddenly realized the problem. Yes, all this time, her husband had always kept his eyes closed when he was with her. Very rarely opening his black silk.
"Then what should I do?"
"Create an atmosphere."
After thinking about it for a long time, Charlotte said, "Everyone says that people tend to some kind of impulse under certain circumstances. Do you want to try?"
Paula frowned. "For example?"
Charlotte took out her mobile phone and searched for something for a long time. Finally, she found a Japanese song and put the headphones in Paula's ears.
While listening to the music with a strong rhythm, Paula was completely engrossed when, unexpectedly, the female singer began to moan loudly.
As if there was an electric current running through her body, Paula immediately took off the headphones. "What is this!?"
"Jikauudoudou. It's very popular." Charlotte laughed mischievously.
"Play this song at night. After that, just hug Mark and let him touch you. Isn't he soulful?"
Paula replied, "I prefer death."
Charlotte thought harder because her plan didn't suit Paula.
After Paula rejected more than ten plans, Charlotte rolled her eyes helplessly. "You don't want this or that. Since there is no way to stimulate physiological urges, then use pharmacology."
"It won't harm my husband's body, right?"
Paula was a little worried. After all, Mark's body could not be said to be very healthy.
Charlotte rolled her eyes. "As long as the dosage of the medicine is not excessive, it will not harm the body."
"So, what if the dosage is excessive?"
"In that case, his body could be damaged."
Paula was silent.
That night, Paula came home very late.
Arriving home, Mark was, as usual, sitting at the dining room table, waiting for her. Slowly, he walked over and sat beside her. Normally, he would take the chopsticks because he wanted to feed her, but he stopped.
"I can do it myself."
As she spoke, she picked up a bowl of rice and chopsticks. Then she started eating like a normal person.
As she spoke, she picked up a bowl of rice and started eating. "It must not be easy to practice eating skillfully, right?"
After all, he needs to use chopsticks to find the position of the rice bowl and plate. It would be very difficult if one could not see...
The man responded lightly before starting to eat quietly.
Throughout the meal, Paula was preoccupied with several issues.
After eating, she wanted to push him, as usual. "Take me to the studio. I still have some business to complete."
For the first time, Paula began to rebel against him. "You're not going to the studio. I also have something to do."
James, who was about to follow Mark to the study, was suddenly stunned.
Mark's eyes narrowed slightly. He then waved at James, asking him not to show up.
That night, Mark wanted to discuss with Kames the Youthscape Group incident that Zerrick was investigating. Unexpectedly, the young woman who had been obedient and submissive wanted to win over him.
Therefore, Paula gently pushed Mark into the bedroom.
"Are you thirsty?" Paula asked hurriedly when they entered the bedroom.
Mark frowned. His deep eyes looked at her through the black silk. "I'm fine."
"I'll get you a glass of water." Cut Paula off, not wanting to be contradicted.
The young woman took a deep breath before walking slowly towards the table. Then she poured mineral water into a glass.
Finally, she exhaled deeply before getting a glass of water for Mark. "After you drink the water, I'll go and help you take a shower. So, we're going to bed, okay?"
"It's been a while since we slept together like we should."
Saying those words, she actually felt a little guilty. After all, they had been sleeping in the same bed for the past few days.
However, she was exhausted every day—so much so that she fell asleep while lying on the bed. She was not fulfilling her duty as a wife.
Looking at Mark, Paula sighed. "In fact, if your eyes weren't covered with a piece of black silk, I could reveal everything through your eyes."
Mark's eyes narrowed slightly. "What is this water?"
Mark asked after suddenly getting a glass from Paula.
"Mineral. Normal drinking water."
Paula began to blush. "You... Hurry up and drink it. Otherwise, you'll be thirsty when you take a bath."
She defended herself while blushing deeply. She even thought that it was fortunate that Mark hadn't opened his eyes yet.
Otherwise, looking at his very red face, it would have been guessed that he must have known if he poured something into that glass of water.
"Do you really want me to drink this?"
The man looked at her, and his eyes became deep and unreadable.
"Mmm."
Paula took a deep breath. Blushing, she began to urge him again. "Hurry up and drink it."
"Don't regret it."
The man slightly opened his thin lips as he softly said the words.
Paula was startled, and before she could react, he snatched the glass of water from her hand. Holding the glass of water, she drank it to the last drop.
