CHAPTER 34. I'm your husband

Obviously, Mark was in a very bad mood the night before. However, when he fell asleep, not only did he not wake him up, but he also asked someone to take him to bed.

She also has a soft side.

Paula is a woman who is very easy to blush at. In high spirits, she smiled and went downstairs.

In the living room downstairs, Mark, who was wearing black clothes, leaned back on the sofa. Holding a cup of tea with one hand, drinking his tea.

There was a man in white sitting next to him. The man told Mark about the Aliston family gossip.

"You don't know it, but William has become the laughing stock of the upper class these days."

"As the eldest grandson of the Aliston family, he is almost thirty years old. He had just won the company from Senior Aliston to run for a few days, but the Smith family went to the house and made a mess there. Not only was he greatly humiliated, but even his company was taken away from him. He must have had some bad luck. For some reason, a few days ago, he also got into a car accident."

"It was just a car accident, but that part was injured. I'm afraid he won't be able to touch women for half a year. What divine retribution!"

The man in white was enjoying the gossip. He didn't notice that Paula had gone downstairs.

Mark, whose eyes were closed, tilted his head, then asked in a deep and serious voice, "Are you awake?"

He was obviously talking to Paula.

Paula pursed her lips and smiled. Her eyelashes fluttered. "Yes."

It was only then that James realized Paula's presence. He looked at the young woman who had just come down the stairs and said, "You look much prettier when you get up."

Paula stared in confusion at the unknown man. She replied, "You're...

"James, he is my personal physician."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. James."

The young woman went to the sofa. As she poured tea for James, she asked softly, "Mr. James, why have you come so suddenly? Is my husband sick?"

James almost spit out his tea and replied, "What do you think is wrong with Mark's body?"

'Obviously he was the one who collapsed from exhaustion the day before. However, the first thing he asked when he woke up was whether Mark was unwell!'

Behind the silk covering his eyes, Mark directed an irritated look towards James. "He came to do a routine check on my body."

After that, Paula was happy.

She put the tea in front of James and said, "So there's nothing wrong with my husband's body, right?"

The young woman in front of her looked very serious. She didn't look like the wife Mark had just married a few days ago.

"There's nothing wrong." James chuckled.

She then glanced at Mark as she said mischievously, "However, when you guys were just married, Grandpa Aliston asked me to get Mark properly examined. After all, he was looking forward to having a great-grandson."

Having said that, she winked at Paula and added, "If Mark has any problems in bed, you should tell me. If we find it early, we can diagnose and treat it early."

His words made Paula blush immediately.

She lowered her head and clasped her fingers, not knowing what to say.

"Neo!" The man, whose eyes were covered in black silk, slowly picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea.

"Defeat him."

In an instant, under James' fearful gaze, the young man in white jumped up from his place on the railing of the first floor. He then approached the sofa and grabbed it, beating it viciously.

"My little Neo, my sweet boy..."

While James dodged Neo's attack, he begged for mercy. "I was wrong. I made a mistake!"

Seeing how cute James' face looked while being chased by Neo, who was beating him, Paula couldn't help but laugh.

It was the first time Mark had seen Paula laugh like that.

It wasn't the kind of formal smile she showed him, and it also wasn't the kind of forced smile she showed in front of her family members.

It came from the heart, and he couldn't help but laugh.

Sunlight shone on the young woman through the French windows. A ray of golden light reflected off her black hair, and one strand hung flirtatiously beside her ear, slightly vibrating in the air due to her laughter.

Unable to control himself, the man reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear, revealing his pure and clean side profile.

At first, all of Paula's attention was on James and Ben. However, after being touched by Mark like that, she suddenly regained her senses.

After realizing what had happened, the young lady must have blushed.

"Thank you."

After a while, she frowned and said "You... How did you know that?"

"Didn't you close your eyes? How did you know that a lock of my hair had slipped out of place? Or did you just want to touch me? And did you happen to touch that lock of hair?"

Mark did not answer her question. Remaining calm, he changed the subject. "You slept very well this morning, so I answered the phone for you."

Paula's attention was immediately drawn to Mark's words. "What call?"

"A call from your Aunt Lucy." Mark raised his eyebrows slightly.

"You gave her money?"

The smile on Paula's face suddenly tightened.

It hadn't occurred to her that the incident would come to light so quickly.

"I gave him my scholarship. At the time, he could only tell Mom. My mom didn't know I was married, so..."

"So, you let her blackmail you!" There was a tone of anger in Mark's heavy voice.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

After he fainted the night before, he pondered about it for a long time. Paula was different from normal women.

She was stubborn and tenacious. She also stuck to her principles with determination. If she didn't want to reveal something, there was no point in trying to convince her, even if someone threatened to kill her.

Faced with a young woman who seemed sweet but also strong, Mark had no choice but to get to the point.

When questioned by him, Paula's body trembled slightly. "I'm afraid you think I married you for money. Although it was originally for money,

She tilted her head, and Mark found that behavior absolutely adorable.

Compared to her stubbornness, Mark felt that Paula's slightly nervous and helpless demeanor was much more charming.

Raising his eyebrows, Mark smiled slightly and asked, "If I don't ask, are you planning to hide it from me forever?"

Paula nodded and replied. "Hmm. That's because it's a personal matter... I have no reason to hold you responsible for me."

"He is your husband. Of course he should be responsible for you, just as you should be responsible for his lower body and the rest of his life. That is the responsibility of both of you. You are husband and wife."

At some point, James took Neo by the shoulders and sat on the other side of the sofa.

He looked at Paula with a smile and continued, "Actually, Mark knows what you have been doing these few days. The reason he didn't tell you before is because he was waiting for you to confess it to him."

Paula's eyes widened. Unconsciously, she glanced at Mark.

There was no expression on the man's face. A large piece of black silk almost covered all his emotions.

'So he knows all my problems? He even knows if I'm lying, but he's not angry with me. I'm so lucky to have him as my husband.'
