CHAPTER 20. You sure I'll be her husband for life?

Mark's eyes were cold.

"I can't let you go for the sake of Paula and Mom, who they are saving right now. If you dare to talk to me in such a rude way next time, you won't talk to me so easily!"

Robert twisted Lucy's arm tightly, and she felt so much pain that she winced. As she heard Mark's words, she gritted her teeth defiantly. She was about to retaliate until Hannah, who was standing to the side, stopped her.

Hannah was a few years older than Lucy, so she had a better understanding of the world.

With one glance, she realized that

Mark's clothes and the silk covering his eyes were extremely expensive.

Besides, she had a noble aura. Right from the start, she knew that he must have status and a strong family background. Just then, Mark's words confirmed that her guess was correct.

He held Lucy back as she shook her head.

"I suddenly remembered that my sister and I have unfinished business. We'll go first!"

After saying that, he dragged Lucy away and left immediately without waiting for Louis' response.

"Mr. Aliston, we really hit it off. Aliston, we're really fit to be a laughing stock." After the two left, Louis laughed in embarrassment.

"This is my family, and I can't defend them either. So I let Paula..."

"Paula and I are fine." Mark's cold voice sounded again.

"Paula, I want to talk to Uncle Louis alone."

Paula looked at Louis. "Where's Aunt Laura?"

"She sent Clara and Clarie to school."

The petite woman let out a deep breath. "So, you haven't really eaten, have you?"

"Go buy us breakfast," Mark said lightly.

Paula nodded, turned around, and left.

Only when she disappeared down the hallway did Louis let out a soft sigh. He looked at Mark. "Mr. Aliston, what did you want to talk to me about?"

"Is your sister always like this?"

"Mmm."

"Paula grew up in such an environment."

"Yes."

Mark turned around and pushed his wheelchair to the window to feel the cool breeze. "It's hard for her since she grew up in that environment, but she can actually look silly."

"Paula's not stupid; she's just naive, but she's also frankly honest when dealing with people and situations."

Louis sighed. "Mr. Aliston, you are the one who will be with her for the rest of her life. I hope you take the time to get to know her better. Actually, she's a very nice girl."

Mark chuckled. "Did I say that I would be with her for the rest of my life?"

"But Paula has prepared to spend the rest of her life with you."

Mark looked down. At the hospital entrance, a young woman in jeans and a white shirt was walking briskly towards the breakfast restaurant outside.

The morning breeze blew through her black hair. In the morning, she had a unique glow.

She watched silently as Pajla entered the breakfast restaurant. "Are you very happy to see her marry me? The blind man who indirectly caused the death of almost all the family members?"

Louis gave her a long look. "I don't believe rumors; I only believe what I see. You may have a very complicated mind and family history, but I can see that you are a real man. A real man will not hurt a woman who treats him sincerely."

Mark smiled. "According to your information, you have been an honest farmer from the village all your life. The only remarkable thing about you is that you were born more than twenty years ago. You served as a volunteer soldier in the army for three years. He had a position in the kitchen, but your words make me doubt your identity."

It was not a prejudice Mark had against the villagers. Most of the previous servants in his house were from the countryside. However, all of them were honest and simple, often using the same language. They rarely spoke those words with vaguely discernible meanings.

Louis was dumbfounded for a moment, but he understood Mark's meaning quickly. "I've seen too much drama."

"I hope so." The man sitting in the wheelchair smiled. Then he turned to study Louis' expression through the black silk.

"Even if your identity is not common, I wouldn't be surprised either."

"After all, an ordinary person wouldn't think of marrying off the nephew he raised for twenty years to a stranger in order to save his mother."

Louis paled slightly. "I'm out of options. We can only blame the fact that Paula didn't fare well."

He looked at Mark and wanted to say something but hesitated.

After a while, he sighed. "Mr. Aliston, Paula is really a very nice girl. I hope you can treat her well."

"Even if you don't like her... Don't hurt her too much. If you don't want a future relationship with her,"

Louis sounded very humble when he said that.

Paula was sweating profusely as she climbed the stairs with breakfast in her hand. The first thing she heard was the phrase Louis used.

As she was about to open the staircase door, her hands were a little stiff, and her feet felt like they were nailed to the ground.

The light sliding door now seemed very heavy, and she couldn't open it.

"This is not something you are considering."

Mark's thick voice was still very cold. "With this marriage, you are only trying to save your brother but giving up Paula's youth. So start praying that you don't die this soon. Otherwise, it's not worth it for your niece."

Louis' hands were clenched at his sides.

At the staircase door, Paula clutched the breakfast bundle.

"Oh! How is someone here?"

Suddenly, she heard a shout behind her.

Paula was startled. When she turned around, she saw a man and a woman appear somewhere on the platform behind her.

At that moment, the man pressed the woman against the wall, and the two exposed their shining white thighs.

The scream came from the woman.

When Paula finally came to her senses, the two people looked at her in confusion.

The scene she witnessed was too unpleasant, so Paula immediately retreated. She opened the door because she wanted to leave, but because she was probably too scared, she didn't see where she was going.

So...

The young lady, who was holding two breakfasts, collided and instantly fell to the marble floor with a strange posture and her face facing the ground.

Louis and Mark turned their heads at the same time.

They saw the young lady getting up from the ground with a dirty face. There were a few strands of hair stuck in her mouth.

As much as possible, she held the breakfast in her hand and examined it. She then looked at the two men in the distance with a naive gaze. "Fortunately, the breakfast isn't broken."

Louis let out a resigned sigh and walked quickly. As he prepared breakfast, he helped Paula brush the hair around her mouth and helped her clean herself up a little.

Louis patted Paula's forehead anxiously. "Are you so impulsive and careless? There is a lift. Why did you take the stairs?"

Paula smiled shyly. "I was afraid that Mom would come out while I was gone. I was also worried that the two of them were too hungry. Besides, there were a lot of people in the lift downstairs; they didn't want to go in, so I took the stairs. It's only the fifteenth floor, it's not too tiring."
