Chapter 224 BONUS CHAPTER 9 (CIELO)
On the day Talia and I were leaving for Florida, Bruce suddenly showed up at my mansion with Agnes. They were carrying two large suitcases and looking stylish in their vacation outfits.
“What are you doing in my house? Mom’s in the backyard if you want to say goodbye to her before you go on vacation.”
Bruce pushed his sunglasses up onto his head. A sly grin appeared on his face.
“I’m not here to see Mom, but to go to Florida with you.”
“No. Go to Florida on your private jet. This is my vacation with Talia. I don’t want any intruders on our trip.”
“Come on, bro. My private jet is under repair.”
“Are you too poor to afford a flight ticket to Florida, huh? If you can’t afford first class, you could at least buy economy class.”
"They don't have tickets at the last minute. Plus, it's summer, you know. A lot of people need a getaway."
"Then find another vacation spot. Of all the tourist destinations, why the fuck would you want to go to Florida?"
I didn't want to risk ruining my surprise for Talia because Bruce and Agnes were on our vacation. I had so many things I wanted to do, just the two of us. Even if Bruce whined and prostrated himself at my feet, I wouldn't take him with me to Florida.
"Because Agnes wants it."
"What? Hey, why did you say that?"
"Because you were the one who came up with the idea of going to a beach club in Florida."
I turned my gaze to my future sister-in-law. She seemed to shrink in fear under my intense gaze. Her face was lowered to the floor, as if she wanted it to swallow her right then and there.
"Bruce, Agnes, are you guys going on vacation today too?"
Shit!
Talia appeared, beaming, and greeted Bruce and Agnes. She looked like a goddess in her sleeveless white dress and intricately laced white stilettos. She let her golden hair down and accessorized with a silver hair clip to complete the look. I bet no one would guess she was a mother of two. Talia looked like a girl in her early twenties.
“Oh, my darling sister-in-law.”
Bruce walked over to Talia. His arms reached out to hug her.
“Agnes and I are going on vacation to Florida.”
“Wow, what a coincidence. Cielo and I are going to Florida, too.”
“Well, we’re here because my private jet is being repaired, and we ran out of tickets to Florida today.”
“Oh, you don’t have to worry. There’s plenty of room on Cielo’s private jet for the four of us.”
“Baby…” I growled.
“It’s okay, Cielo. It’ll be more fun if we go to Florida together.”
“I don’t want anyone else on our vacation.”
“But they’re not anyone else. Bruce is your brother, and Agnes is Bruce’s fiancée. Don’t act like a mean brother to them,” Talia glared at me.
Fuck!
I hate this. All my plans were ruined because of that damn brat.
“You’re such an angel, Talia.”
Bruce hugged Talia happily and kissed her cheek.
“Let's go. We can't be late for this trip.”
That bastard was so excited not because he'd managed to get a ride to Florida, but because he'd ruined my intimate trip with Talia.
Say goodbye to sex on planes. Talia didn't even glance at me once we sat down on my private jet because she was busy chatting with Agnes. She even chose the seat furthest away from me so I couldn't overhear their conversation.
Yeah, shit.
"Cheer up, brother. Aren't you going to celebrate your anniversary with Talia?"
"Shut up, you bastard."
"Look at that clear blue sky. Isn't this a spectacular trip?"
"If you don't shut your damn mouth, I'll stuff it with my shoe."
He laughed out loud, not the slightest bit deterred by my threat. But I wasn't kidding. I would really stuff his big mouth with my shoe if he didn't stop bothering me.
"Talia is an absolute angel. You're lucky to have her as your wife."
"Says the man who beat her black and blue and nearly killed her."
"Yeah, that's in the past. I was a fucking idiot back then."
"You're always an idiot."
"Hey, you hurt my heart."
"I fucking don't care. You've always been an idiot. I don't remember you ever getting first place in class. But you've always been a troublemaker and stressing Mom out."
"That's because I don't like being the smartest in class. I'm not you, the ambitious brat."
"We both know my ambition served us well in getting to this point."
"Yeah, you arrogant asshole."
The flight attendant had already come back twice to serve me food, and I noticed Talia still hadn't finished her first course. She'd gotten caught up in whatever conversation she was having with Agnes and neglected her food.
"How's your business doing?"
"It's unusual for you to be interested in my business."
Bruce swirled his wine before taking a sip.
"Just to make sure everything was safe. Didn't want to risk being ambushed by your enemies while in Florida."
"I guarantee no one will come after you and Talia. I don't run my business as aggressively as I used to. I'm even considering following in your footsteps."
I raised an eyebrow.
"You mean you're going to quit the game?"
"You've managed to build a new, less risky business. I envy the peaceful life you have with Talia. Do you think I could be successful if I quit the game?"
"It depends."
I turned my face to the window. Bruce was right, the weather outside was beautiful, and that slightly improved my mood.
"On what?"
"On you. It all depends on your efforts in managing the business. Whether it's dirty or clean, they all have risks."
"Okay. How about I invest in your business? I need to learn from the master."
I shot him a sharp glare.
"Don't try to lick my ass. Build your own business. I already have enough investors in all my businesses."
"Come on, brother, you know I have no problem licking your ass," he raised his eyebrows disgustingly.
I threw a napkin at him, and it hit him square in the face.
"Get your disgusting face away from me. I've helped you enough so far. This time you build your own business empire."
"Are you sure that's final?"
"If you know me well, then you know the answer."
He finally gave in and grabbed his phone with a dejected expression.
"Alright. I guess we've really parted ways."
