"Boss, we are being followed by another cab," Oliver said from the driver's seat, he was the one that came to pick Daniel up.
Daniel checked the rearview mirror and saw the cab taking every turn they made, he wondered who it was
"Drive to the point where there is a CCTV so that Vincent can check out who is following me" he instructed his driver who nodded and did exactly as his boss had ordered,
"Vincent, check out the cab on lane 4 CCTV, send me the picture of whoever is tailing me" he instructed through his cell phone.
Vincent is a tech guy working for him, he is a very fine hacker and does even more than hacking, Daniel had seen this talent in Vincent early and had brought him into the fold, he paid him well and Vincent had no reason to worry.
Daniel opened his message when it beeped and his eyes widened in surprise, his wife was tailing him. His lips twisted in a wry smile, "turn to your left" he told the Oliver
"Who was that boss?" Oliver asked as he turned the steering to the left
"It's my wife, my own wife is tailing me" Daniel replied and after Oliver got over his shock, he couldn't help but laugh
"What now boss?" He asked, "We can't allow her to tail us to the moon house"
"Let's take her on a merry ride and then ditch her"
"Sure boss" Oliver replied as he whistled, still amused by the fact that his boss'wife would dare to tail him.
Bella watched as Daniel entered a clothing shop and then came out after a minute and got back into the cab, what the hell was he up to?
A big truck suddenly moved in front of them at the T-junction with horns blaring and her driver matched the break and waited for it to pass but much to her chagrin, Daniel's cab was nowhere to be found after the truck had passed.
"Blast that truck" she muttered in disappointment, "take me back," she told the cab driver, she wondered where Daniel was going, she'll ask him when he returned.

Daniel smirked when he stared at the rearview mirror to see that they had lost his nosy little wife, he wondered what prompted her to tail him, perhaps, she was becoming suspicious about his identity, he had to be more careful, he couldn't risk her finding out now, although, now he has no doubt that she doesn't care about his money he still needs to observe her, he is very much aware that she still thinks about Nikolai, perhaps, she might regret choosing her broke husband over a billionaire. Either way, he has to focus on his revenge, avenging his mother will bring a huge change to their relationship, he would tell her about himself and have more time to spend with her.
Daniel got to the moon house and he put on his mask, these are his father's right hand and they should know where he kept the pen drive and he was ready to get that info out from them.
"Good day gentlemen and welcome to my secret house, I hope my men have been treating you well," Daniel said as he got inside
"We are not going to tell you anything" one of them clenched out and Daniel smiled grimly
"Of course you are, that is the only way that no one gets hurt"
The other man glared at Daniel from underneath his lashes, and Daniel held his jaw so that they were eyeball to eyeball
"When is my pen drive?" He clenched out but the man had the audacity to spit on his face and it landed on his forehead. Daniel brought out his pistol and shot the man's leg for daring to spit on him, taking out his handkerchief, and he wiped it off.
Now he felt so pissed and he would have put a bullet through his head if not for the information he wanted, he had put a tail on his father and was on a lookout, hoping that there will be a trace of the drive but not yet, so, he had opted to take in his father's most trusted men to make them spill, although, he knew that it wouldn't be easy to make them talk but he hadn't thought that they will be this audacious as to spit on his face
"I'd rather die than betray my boss" the other gritted fiercely
"And death you shall see" Daniel replied angrily and raised his gun, he aimed
"Wait... don't shoot," the man said before he could pull the trigger, "I...I... really do not know anything about a pen drive, it..."
"Wrong answer" Daniel replied and shot his arm, "I'll have a better aim next time"
Daniel watched how they were both writhing in pain from his gunshot, he must say that his father has some loyal men even though he doesn't deserve it but Daniel would make sure that they give him the information he wanted.
He watched as the first man kept writhing in pain but he also noticed how the man's eyes were darting about and he narrowed his eyes, something wasn't right.
His cell phone rang, it was Vincent the tech guy, "Boss, the security has been breached, we have intruders"
Daniel was shocked, "how the hell did that happen?"
"One of the men has a chip on him, I'm sorry I didn't detect it early"
Daniel cursed and ended the call, walking straight to the men, he shot them right between their heads and their unseeing eyes stared back at him
"We have to leave, we've been compromised" he yelled but it was too late the first blast that rocked the building was heard.
Their attacker knew it was sound and bulletproof so they came with a grenade, "damn it" Daniel cursed for the umpteenth time, he should have been more observant, the building shook from the blast and part of it collapsed, another blast sounded, his attacker came prepared
He grabbed his holster that was on the table and ran out just as the spot he was standing on a moment ago exploded, he cursed and opened his holster, he grabbed a gun and put it in his shoes, his waist, and held his revolver
"Boss, let's take the secret exit," Marcus said
"Take the others and leave, I'll cover for you"
"But Boss, I can't just leave you behind"
Daniel glanced at him, "That's an order and you have no choice but to obey. Don't worry, I'll be fine. Go now!" He yelled when Marcus hesitated
He was not about to run just because he was attacked, this was his building and whoever it was that had attacked him would pay for it.
He moved in the shadows, firing, there was blast, fire, and smoke everywhere and he was raged to see that his secret place had been compromised.
He saw a shadow move and he fired immediately, meeting his target, he hoped that he'd buy enough time for his men, he could not harbor the thought that they die because of him, he blamed himself for this, he had been too distracted lately, if he was here an hour ago when he was called, this might not have happened
He ran while shooting and several shots were aimed back at him, he felt a bullet hit his arm and he returned fire to where the bullet had come from, catching the shooter straight through his heart.
He turned and came face to face with another but when he tried to shoot, no shots came out, damn, he needed to reload
"Now I have you just where I wanted, King of the underworld," the man pointing at him said and Daniel clenched his teeth but to his surprise, the man suddenly fell on his knees with blood oozing from his mouth, Daniel looked up to see Marcus
"I'm sorry boss, I just cannot leave you here alone"
"You have to leave this instant," Daniel said but Marcus shook his head,
"I'd rather die beside you than flee when you needed help the most"
Daniel was touched by the gesture, he knew his men were loyal but didn't know there was anyone who would lay down his life for him and he didn't want to spend time arguing
"Give it up Nikolai, you are surrounded and you cannot escape" Daniel wasn't surprised when he heard his father's voice ring out, he clenched his jaw and quickly reloaded while Marcus covered for him, just when he reloaded a shot rang out and Marcus pushed him away from the line of fire and took the bullet made for him instead, shooting another with the last of his remaining bullet
"Marcus!" He yelled as he watched his friend fall to the ground
"I'm sorry boss, I wasn't able to protect you"
"No, you cannot die, I'll get you out of here" Pain filled his heart and laughter rang out, looking up, he saw his father approaching him with several other men
His father raised his hand, stilling his men from firing, "Hello Nikolai, nice to meet you"
Daniel glared at him from where he had knelt beside Marcus whose eyes had glazed over, he slowly closed Marcus' unseeing eyes
"I've been waiting for this day and I must say, it took me long enough, and with the help of the many enemies you have" he beckoned on one of his men and others cocked their guns, aiming at Daniel while the man he had beckoned on slowly went to Daniel and took off his mask
"Well, well, well, I must say that I am surprised that my son is actually the king of the underworld"
Daniel's hands clenched into fists, and his eyes suddenly fell on something shiny around his father's neck, and to his shock, he noticed it was the pen drive, damn, it has been around his neck all this while?
"I am my father's son, if you are dangerous, then I have to be because dangerous blood flows in my vein" Daniel replied as he took a step forward, "if you had the guts to kill my mother, then I too should have the guts to kill you"
His father's laughter rang out, "There is one thing that you didn't get from me though and that is passion. You are too passionate about things and that alone can make you not see clearly"
"Stand where you are" one of the men warned when he noticed that Daniel was walking too close to his father but Daniel didn't care, he would get that pen drive one way or the other, he had one more trick up his sleeves, there was a security button down there and he just had to step on it, that would give him the distraction he needed
Just one more step and he'll be there, "I said stop" another warning sounded but this time, it was followed by a shot missing his foot
Daniel moved one more and stepped right on the security button, lights and alarm blared, catching them all by surprise and Daniel seized the opportunity, he rushed towards his dad and dragged off the pen drive he was wearing around his neck and at the same time wrapped his arms around his father's neck, "one move and he is dead" he warned
His father's men were blinking in surprise at the turn of events
"You are indeed the king of the underworld, I underestimated you," his father said, equally surprised at the turn of events
Daniel used him as a shield and walked towards the cliff, below was water that led to the open sea and that was his only way, he had to risk dying by the sea or by his father's bullet and he would have preferred dying down there than giving his father the pleasure of killing him
"I will come for you and when next we meet, I will make sure to end your life" he whispered into his father's ears and placed the pen drive into his pocket before pushing his father toward his men.
He took the dive down below, a bullet whizzed past his ears and one caught his leg just as he hit the water below.
