Chapter – 8

Trisha’s POV

I don’t understand why Vihaan’s grandmother and mother looked at me as if I asked a question in a different language. Everyone is present but Vihaan’s grandfather is not present. So naturally, I ask, where the grandfather is. And they are asking me “who?”. As if the grandfather word doesn’t exist in this world.

“Grandfather. I am talking about Vihaan’s grandfather.” - I said to them more clearly.

“Don’t you know? Vihaan’s grandfather left me alone in this world a few years ago. He is dead. I thought you knew about our family.” - Vihaan’s grandma told me with a sad face.

What? He is dead! But the person I met a few days before my marriage, who is he? My grandfather told me he was his best friend and Vihaan’s grandfather. Is he Vihaan’s maternal grandfather? Yeah, he must be Vihaan’s maternal grandfather. But he was also not present during our wedding. Why didn’t he come?

I look at Vihaan’s grandma apologetically “Sorry, I had no idea. I thought of him as Vihaan’s paternal grandfather. I didn’t know he is maternal aahhh…”- I glared at Vihaan who pinched me on my thigh.

“What happened?” - Vihaan’s mother asked me with concern.

Before I could answer her, Vihaan answered on my behalf “ a mosquito bit her.”

Huh! Mosquito! Yeah, the biggest mosquito in the world. I want to say that out loud but I kept quiet and nodded my head in affirmation of Vihaan’s statement.

“Mosquito? Here?” - Vihaan’s mother asked with a wary expression.

“Why? Now, does a mosquito need your permission to enter the house?” - Vihaan said in a rude tone.

I didn’t like Vihaan’s tone. He shouldn’t talk with his mother in this tone. Maybe he is angry with her but still, this is not a tone one should talk with his mother.

“Vihaan! Watch your tone!” - Vihaan’s father scolded him.

Since I entered the dining room, this is the first time Vihaan’s father has said something. He didn’t even say good morning while wishing me, he had just nodded his head.

Vihaan didn’t say anything to his father. He scoffed. What is this man’s problem? Why is he behaving this way with his parents? Does he not have a good relationship with his parents?

Because of Vihaan’s behaviour, an awkward silence arose in the room. I feel very bad because of his behaviour towards his parents. I need to talk with this man. I need to put some sense into him. He doesn’t know any manners.

We all were eating quietly when Vihaan’s brother decided to break the silence. I don’t know why I didn’t like this man. The way he has been looking at me is very creepy.

“So, where were we? Ohh yeah, grandfather! You were talking about something like a paternal and maternal grandfather, aren’t you?” - Vihaan’s brother asked.

“Yes, I thought the person -” Vihaan interrupted me “ I don’t like to talk while eating and I want my wife to follow the same.”

Uhh! Why would I follow his rules? I like to talk. I always talk a lot. Grandma used to scold me for talking so much but still, I never listened. Now he wants me to follow his rules? In his dreams. Trisha Mallik follows her own rules. Huh!

I am about to say something but before I can say anything Vihaan’s brother spoke “ But I think your wife has not liked that rule. Do you like that rule, Trisha?”

Of course, I  didn’t like it but I will not tell him. I will deal with Vihaan later. I am not like Vihaan. I will not insult him in front of his family. Besides, I don’t like his brother.

“No, I think it is a good habit. I have no problem with this.” - I replied sweetly.

Was it my delusion or did a small smile really spread across Vihaan’s face for a fraction of a second? Is he happy due to my statement? Aww, that is cute. Just because I support him in front of his family he became happy? That is so sweet. He is a nice person but doesn’t know why he is behaving so rudely with his family. Is he angry with his family because of his girlfriend? Yeah, maybe his family has not agreed to his relationship with ‘that girl’ and he needs to marry me. Yes, this could be a reason for his anger towards his family. I know how it feels when your family doesn't approve of the person you love. The same thing happened to me. But I didn’t get angry with them or behave badly. Instead, I made them understand how much I love him and how I cannot live without him. Everyone agreed except for my grandfather. He gave me this condition of a contract marriage and also blackmailed me using my CEO position. So I agreed. Besides, Mohit, my boyfriend, also has no problem with this contract marriage.

My trance broke upon hearing Vihaan’s brother’s voice “ But I can talk. I don’t have this good habit. So let me ask you, you don’t know about the connection between maternal and paternal grandfather?”

What connection? I don’t know anything. Before I could say anything, Vihaan replied “ She is my wife. It is also about my grandfather. I will tell her. You don’t have to worry.”

Why does it feel like I showed curiosity about a wrong thing? What is the mystery behind Vihaan’s grandfather? Ohh my curious mind! How will I stop my curiosity? I cannot wait to ask Vihaan about it.
