Chapter 21
Chapter 21
After what happened earlier, no one came near me. Mr. Ares and his men guarded the area.
I decided to go to the bar. I took a seat in a quiet area. I watched people dancing. I drank wine. They also served me steak for my dinner. I'm used to eating alone, but now, I don't know, it feels sad to be here while the people around me are enjoying themselves.
'Markus is the only one you want to be with. Admit it' my mind punished me.
I rolled my eyes. I took a sip of wine. Is he furious with what I said? He used not to want to be away from me, but now he's leaving me here alone. He should have let me meet someone else or at least agreed to join me with Mr. Ares.
I'm so fed up. I feel like I'd rather go back to work than hang out here. After all, it's not my money I'm spending. I suddenly remembered Lindy. I wish I had brought her here. How is she? I haven't heard from her. Is she worried about me? I have so many stories to tell her, but, of course, vampires and Arkans aren't among the stories I'll tell. No one will believe me.
I didn't realize that I had already finished the steak on my table. I also had two glasses of wine. I wanted to drink alcohol. I wanted to get drunk, so I could fall asleep right away. So that I don't have to think about Markus.
I looked around for Mr. Ares. I'll ask if I can have a little alcohol. If I don't ask him permission, he might say again that he wants to live and that something bad will happen to him.
I waved to Mr. Ares when I saw him at the bar counter. Drinking alcohol. He had a device in his ear. He was obviously talking to someone on the line.
"Miss Celestine. Why? Would you like to order something?" he asked as he approached me.
"I'm full," I replied. I held my chin and looked at him. With puppy eyes, begging. I hope it's effective.
"Do you want to sleep?" He turned around. "Damn! Marko. I'm not talking to you. Why don't you just come here and watch? So you don't have to ask me questions," he hissed. It was just a whisper, but I heard it. I thought he was afraid of his boss?
I wanted to roll my eyes again at what I heard. Why didn't Markus come here?
'You don't want to? Isn't it? That's why you fought him. Then suffer to be alone' my villainous mind whispered.
"Excuse me, Mr. Ares. Please tell Markus if I can have a drink? So I can fall asleep as soon as I get to the suite. I promise I won't get drunk," I interrupted their conversation.
The two of them might have continued talking for a while longer if I hadn't stopped them.
"Did you hear that? Miss Celestine asked if she could drink some alcohol so she could fall asleep right away in her room."
Mr. Ares frowned as he listened to Markus on the other line. Why is Markus going to the trouble of talking to me? He could have called me instead so he wouldn't disturb Mr. Ares. Just by his reaction, he looked annoyed with what Markus was doing.
"Marko said, it's not allowed, Miss Celestine," he said.
My eyebrows furrowed. Why is it not allowed?
"Give me your phone. I'll talk to Markus". I held out my hand for him to give me the cellphone. It's hard to say if we'll pass along what we'll say to each other.
"Marko. Miss Celestine said she's going to talk to you." He looked at me.
"He said you should just tell me what you want to tell him."
My eyebrows furrowed again.
"Why doesn't he talk to me directly? Why do I have to pass along what I'm going to say to him?" The irritation rising in my voice was obvious.
I want to grab Mr. Ares' cellphone and cursed at Markus.
"Marko said don't drink alcohol. End of discussion," he informed. Even Mr. Ares seems to be unhappy with what Markus is doing.
"Tell him if he doesn't want to talk to me. I'll drink alcohol." I challenged.
"Fuck!" he whispered softly. He held his temple as if his head was aching from the fight between Markus and me "Miss Celestine. He'll be mad at me if you drink alcohol. Darn, Marko is starting to get angry on the other line," he said. I saw him move his earpiece away so that Markus wouldn't hear what he said to me.
But instead of listening, I grabbed his cellphone and without hesitation turned it off so that Markus couldn't call. I handed his cellphone back to him.
"What the heck!" he gasped at what I did. He was so shocked. His eyes widened. It was the first time I had seen Mr. Ares looks like this. If I were in a good mood right now, I might take a picture of him as a remembrance.
"I'll drink. And I promise, I won't get drunk. I just really want to drink. If you want, watch over me so you can rest assured."
Why isn't drinking allowed? I'm not young enough to be banned.
"B-but...Marko...he'll be angry, Miss Celestine. Please don't drink."
"I'll sit there in the hidden part. So no one can see me. Just keep an eye on me or join me at the table," I pointed to the place I wanted. Ignoring him.
"Miss Celestine," I hear his begging. His constant dialogue about wanting to live keeps coming to my mind.
I sighed. This one is stubborn too.
"Just tell Markus. I don't drink. I was angry that he didn't want to agree, so I just went to my suite to sleep. He won't know, he's not here. Why are you scared? I won't betray you." I'm really brainy. I immediately thought of a good excuse.
"What you are doing will harm me, Miss Celestine"
"You'll be damned if you tell him. Will you tell him?" I asked, weighing my options.
"Of course not! If I tell Markus, I won't be alive tomorrow and someone else will have to watch over you."
I can feel in his voice that he's making me feel guilty about what I'm going to do to drink alcohol. He can't fool me. I guess I'm smart enough not to know his drama.
"Order now. Don't be dramatic. I'll only drink a little bit". I showed him my two fingers and showed him how much I was going to drink.
"Miss Celestine" he begged more.
"Mr. Ares, sometimes you need to chill out and not just work. Just enjoy our time here at the beach. Come with me."
"You're chilling out will kill me." he signed.
I pulled his arm and wrapped my hand around it. Mr. Ares felt like he was being burned and removed my hand from his arm. He was agitated and looked around. He was looking for something.
"Miss Celestine! Don't touch me, Marko will kill me. Shit" he said in horror.
I laughed at his act. What's the big deal? I didn't touch him with malice. These vampires have different minds. Making simple things complicated
I grabbed his arm again and pulled him to the spot on the bar I wanted. He tried to pull my hand away, but I didn't let him do that. I smiled as we sat down at the table. Mr. Ares and I faced each other. He was fidgeting in his seat. He was looking around.
"Just chill. You're like a restless dog," I said, laughing. This is all I need to do if I want to give him emotions, not just his poker face.
"I'm nervous, Miss Celestine. I don't want to die yet," I wanted to laugh out loud. I just held back my laughter, he might throw me out if he heard it.
"You're still alive, so come and have a drink with me." I called the waiter and asked for a drink that wasn't too intoxicating. He suggested a drink. That's what I ordered.
When the drink arrived, I was amazed. It was pink. It looked more like juice than alcohol. I looked at Mr. Ares doubtfully. Could it be that he was tricking me into thinking it was alcohol? Did he tell the waiter to give it to me?
"Why do you look at me like that, Miss Celestine?" He asked with a frown.
"Maybe you sabotaged my drink, and it's not really alcohol." I replied with a frown too.
"You ordered that, and then you're blaming me that I sabotaged that? Hay woman They think very complicatedly."
My eyes were narrowed as I looked at him. I couldn't take my eyes off him. I drank straight from the alcohol the waiter gave me.
"Woah!" I coughed. The taste was so strong. This isn't juice. This is actually alcohol!
"Miss Celestine! Just drink slowly. You said you wouldn't get drunk? Why did you finish a glass right away?" Mr. Ares was already struggling in front of me. He didn't know whether to approach me or not.
"I thought it was juice" I said, coughing. I held my throat. It hurt. I felt the alcohol flowing there. It was my first time drinking. Is alcohol this strong?
He sighed. He didn't know what to do with me. He couldn't even paint his face. I just ignored him. I called the waiter again and ordered another drink. This time, I'll just drink a little.
I can see the sea from my seat. It's dark there. I'm having fun looking at it because even though it's dark in that part, I feel relaxed. But in contrast to Mr. Ares's face, who was looking around. He was sweating bullets. Even when I told him to order too, he refused. He's a killjoy. Loyal to his master.
