Chapter thirty Six

EVE’S POV

Eve stood at the edge of the clearing, her feet firmly planted on the earth. The night air was cool, but the heat inside her made the temperature feel almost unbearable. Her breath came in shallow, measured gasps, her body taut as she steeled herself for the task ahead.

The twin Alphas stood a few feet away, their identical gazes unwavering. Damien and Damon, their presence exuded a strength that felt almost unreal. There was something else, something more potent in the air now, a connection between them all that had grown impossible to ignore in the past few days. And for Eve, it was both thrilling and terrifying.

“You need to focus, Eve,” Damon’s voice cut through the tension.

Eve swallowed hard, trying to ignore the rush of heat that his smile ignited within her. “I’m trying,” she muttered, flexing her hands at her sides as she fought to rein in the trembling energy threatening to burst from her. “It’s just... hard.”

Damien stepped forward, his tall frame blocking out the fading light, making his intense gaze feel like an anchor pulling her in. “You’ve never trained like this before. But you’ve got power, Eve. You’ve always had it. We just need to help you control it.”

Damon’s large hands settled on her shoulders, guiding her into position. “Let’s start simply,” he murmured, his breath warm against her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. “Relax your shoulders. Breathe in deeply. Inhale through your nose... hold... and exhale slowly.”

Eve nodded, doing her best to follow his instructions, though her pulse raced with every breath she took. “You’re thinking too much,” Damon whispered, his voice a caress against her skin, yet somehow stern. “Just feel it.”

Closing her eyes, Eve tried again, this time pulling in a slow, deliberate breath. But the more she tried to focus, the more the energy inside her writhed like a wild beast caged within her.

Damien’s voice, cut through the chaos. “This isn’t just about your body, Eve. It’s your mind. Trust your instincts.”

“You’re tense,” Damien growled, “Loosen up.”

“I... I’m trying,” Eve muttered, her voice betraying her nerves. “I don’t understand. I don’t know how to control it.”

Damon’s grip on her shoulders tightened slightly, his touch grounding her in a way that comfort flooding through her. “It’s not about controlling it. It’s about surrendering to it,” he murmured, his breath a whisper. “Trust yourself, Eve.”

For the first time, she tried to let go, to stop fighting the power inside her. She allowed herself to just feel it, raw, untamed, like the wildness of the wolf waiting to burst free.

“There you go,” Damon’s voice broke through her thoughts. “That’s better.”

Eve opened her eyes to find Damien standing in front of her. His gaze was deep, searching, as if he was looking into her very soul. .

“Don’t stop now,” Damien urged, “Call on that energy again. This time, let it flow, let it come to you.”

“Let go,” Damien coaxed, his voice low, hypnotic.

With a shaky breath, Eve let her body relax. She exhaled, allowing her hands to fall to her sides, energy surged up from within her, like a powerful wave crashing over her, pushing her forward. The ground beneath her trembled, cracking slightly as the wave of energy exploded outward, wild and uncontrolled.

The force sent her stumbling backward, her body vibrating with the intensity of what she had just unleashed..

“What the hell was that?” Damon’s voice was rough, filled with awe and concern. His eyes were wide, staring at her with admiration

Eve’s heart raced in her chest. “I didn’t mean to...” she whispered, her voice trembling. “I don’t know how to control it.”

Damien studied her, “You’ve got power inside you, Eve. A lot of it. And that’s just the beginning.”

Damon’s hand on her arm tightened, his voice softer. “You’re not alone in this, Eve. We’ll help you through it.”

The words seemed to settle over her like a promise, grounding her in the chaos that swirled inside her. She looked between Damien and Damon, seeing the strength that was promised in both of their eyes.

And for the first time, she felt like she might be able to believe in them, and in herself.

And then, just as the night seemed to settle around them, a low, menacing growl broke the silence, echoing through the trees.

Eve froze, her instincts on high alert. Something was coming, something dangerous.

Damien’s hand flew to the hilt of his blade, his expression hardening. “We’re not alone,” he muttered, his voice low, edged with a warning.

The growl grew louder, closer. Eve’s heart pounded in her chest, her senses on edge. Something was watching them, something was coming for them.

“Stay close,” Damon growled, his body brushing against hers, his presence a shield.

The ground beneath them seemed to shift, and the air grew colder. Eve’s instincts screamed at her to run, but her she could not, the power inside her too unstable

And then, from the shadows, something moved.

Eve’s breath hitched, the wild energy inside her flaring again as the figure emerged from the darkness, its silhouette unmistakable.

Damien and Damon stood ready, their Alphas’ blood calling to the danger that approached.

And Eve... Eve had no choice but to face what was coming next.

The figure stepped forward from the shadows, its outline barely visible in the moonlight. Eve’s heart pounded in her chest, her senses on high alert. It was tall, with a predatory grace.

The growl echoed again, deeper this time, as though it were a warning, or perhaps a challenge.

"Stay behind us," Damien commanded, his tone fierce and protective. His body was coiled with tension, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice.

The figure stepped fully into the clearing, revealing a tall, lean man with eyes that glowed with a dangerous amber hue. His features were sharp, almost otherworldly, with an aura of dark power that seemed to radiate from him.

"Well, well," he said, his voice low and mocking, with an edge of amusement. "I see the Alpha Kings are finally getting their hands dirty. And here I thought you two would be more... discerning."

Eve's blood ran cold. She had heard stories, whispers about the rogue Lycans, creatures who were not bound by the rules of the packs, creatures who craved power beyond their wildest dreams.

The rogue's eyes flickered to Eve, a smile curling at the corner of his lips. "And who do we have here?" he purred. "The moon goddess’s daughter, I presume?"

Eve's breath caught in her throat. What did he call her?

Damien's body stiffened next to her, his eyes narrowing as he stepped protectively in front of her, his voice a low growl. "Stay away from her."

Damon mirrored his brother’s stance, his gaze fixed on the rogue, "What do you want?"

The rogue chuckled, the sound dark and twisted. "What do I want? Oh, just a little fun. A taste of the power that should have been mine."

Without warning, the rogue lunged, His speed was incredible, and for a split second, Eve thought she saw him flash like a shadow, too fast for even her eyes to track.

But before he could reach them, Damien and Damon were already in motion, their reflexes honed from years of training. With a fluidity that spoke of their connection as Alpha Kings.

The rogue dodged, his laughter ringing through the air, "You’ll need more than that to stop me," he mocked, spinning to face them.

Eve’s instincts flared again. Without thinking, she stepped forward, her hands raised, palms open. The energy inside her surged, wild and untamed, as if it were reaching for something, something it had always known but never understood. The power swirled around her, and for the first time, Eve felt it.

Damien and Damon paused, sensing the shift in the air.

"Eve, no," Damon said urgently. "It’s not time—"

But Eve didn’t hear him. The rogue was right in front of them, and she was no longer afraid, her power was now part of her, just as the wolf inside her had always been.

"Step aside," Eve commanded.

Damien and Damon hesitated, exchanging a brief glance before nodding.

The rogue laughed again, “You think you can stop me?"

Eve’s eyes flared, her gaze locking onto the rogue.

"Try me," she whispered.

With that, she released it.

The forest trembled. The rogue’s laughter faltered as the ground beneath his feet began to crack, the air humming with the force of her power.

The rogue staggered back, his eyes widening in disbelief. "No... this can’t be..."

But it was. And Eve was just getting started.

As the rogue fought against the pull of her energy, Damien and Damon moved in, their, together, with Eve’s power at their backs, they were unstoppable.

Eve’s heart raced, the power inside her now a living thing, a force she could finally control.

With the last of the rogue’s resistance crumbling under their combined strength, the clearing fell silent, the danger dissipating as quickly as it had come.

Breathing heavily, Eve turned to Damien and Damon, their gazes locked on her, filled with a mixture of pride and something more.

“You did it,” Damon said, his voice rough with awe.

Damien nodded, his expression fierce and protective. “

Eve looked at them both, a s

urge of emotion rushing through her. Iin this moment, with her mates by her side, she knew that nothing could break her.

Not anymore.
