Chapter 127 THE GREAT SACRIFICE
Chapter 127 THE GREAT SACRIFICE
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SEVEN
LUNA LEENA POV (Trapped Inside)
I was drowning in darkness.
No matter how hard I fought, no matter how loudly I screamed, my body refused to listen to me. Gotham moved it with complete ease, like it had always belonged to her. Every breath she took through my lungs felt like theft. Every word she spoke with my voice felt like a knife stabbing into my soul. I was still here trapped deep inside my own mind watching everything like a helpless ghost.
Gotham sat on the throne in the main hall, my legs crossed elegantly. The elders and high-ranking guards stood before her, their faces pale with fear. She had called them here again, and they had come running, too terrified to refuse.
I could feel her satisfaction. She loved this power. She loved the way they trembled when she looked at them with my red glowing eyes.
“Listen carefully,” Gotham announced, her multi-layered voice echoing through the hall like thunder. “In three days, the weak ones in this pack will be gathered and taken to the temple. The old, the sick, the useless all of them. They will serve a greater purpose. A sacrifice will be made. A sacrifice powerful enough to strengthen me and this pack forever.”
The elders gasped. One of them, old Marcus, stepped forward with shaking legs.
“My Queen… please,” he begged. “These are our fathers, our mothers, our grandparents. You cannot sacrifice them. It is wrong.”
Gotham smiled with my lips. She stood up slowly and walked toward him. My body moved with graceful cruelty. She stopped right in front of the old man and tilted my head.
“Wrong?” she whispered. “There is no wrong anymore. Only strength. The weak will die so the strong can live. That is the natural order.”
She raised my hand. Dark energy swirled around my fingers. With a casual flick, she sent Marcus flying backward. He crashed into the wall and slid down, groaning in pain.
“No one will question me again,” she said coldly, looking at the rest of the elders. “The weak will be taken in three days. Prepare them. If anyone tries to hide their weak family members, they will join the sacrifice.”
The hall was completely silent. Some elders had tears in their eyes. Others looked like they wanted to run but were too scared to move.
Inside my own mind, I was breaking.
No… please… not my people… not the elders who supported me… not the old women who used to smile at me when I walked through the market…
I screamed and threw myself against the walls of my mental prison again and again. I pushed with all my love for my pack, all my guilt, all my desperation. For one tiny second, I felt my finger twitch. My real voice almost broke through.
Stop! This is wrong! These are innocent people!
Gotham noticed immediately. She laughed inside my head, a cold, mocking sound.
Try harder, little wolf. You are fading. Soon there will be nothing left of you.
Tears fell in the darkness where no one could see them. I thought about my children. About Damian. About the pack I had built with my own hands after running away from my old life. All of it was being destroyed by this monster wearing my face.
Gotham turned my body and walked back to the throne. She sat down and crossed my legs again, looking at the terrified elders with satisfaction.
“Three days,” she repeated. “Prepare them. And remember any resistance will be met with death.”
The elders bowed low and left the hall quickly, their shoulders slumped in defeat. The moment the doors closed, Gotham leaned back and laughed softly.
“Such weak creatures,” she murmured. “They break so easily.”
I kept fighting. I kept screaming. I thought about Damian’s warm arms, about our children’s laughter, about the night we bonded to push her back. I poured all my love into the mate bond, hoping he could feel me.
Damian… please… I’m still here… don’t give up on me…
But the darkness was growing thicker. Gotham’s control felt stronger every hour. I was getting tired. So tired.
Gotham stood up and walked toward the window. She looked out over the pack, my red eyes glowing with ambition.
“Soon,” she whispered. “This world will bow to me. And your precious mate and children will be the first to kneel.”
I screamed one last time, my voice fading into the darkness.
The fight was far from over. But I didn’t know how much longer I could keep fighting.
……..
ALPHA DAMIAN/LUNA POV
I couldn’t take it anymore. The moment I heard what Gotham had done in the throne room announcing the sacrifice of the weak ones, threatening the elders, and ordering the conscription of our young men something inside me snapped. I stormed through the palace halls, my blood boiling with rage and heartbreak. Guards stepped aside quickly when they saw me coming. They knew better than to stand in my way.
I pushed open the doors to the royal sitting room with force. Gotham was lounging on a grand chair, my Leena’s body relaxed as if she owned the world. She wore a dark, revealing gown, her legs crossed, a glass of wine in her hand. Those glowing red eyes looked up at me with amusement.
“Pet,” she purred, my voice twisted into something cold and seductive. “You look angry. Come to beg again?”
I stopped a few feet away, breathing hard. My fists were clenched so tightly my nails dug into my palms.
“Stop this,” I growled. “Stop using her body to hurt our people. Stop threatening our children. This is not you, Leena. Fight her! Come back to me!”
Gotham laughed softly. She stood up slowly, setting the wine glass down. She walked toward me with that confident sway, stopping only inches away. She reached out and ran her fingers down my chest.
“Leena is fading, my love,” she whispered. “Soon there will be only me. And you will learn to worship your new queen.”
I grabbed her wrist, staring deep into those red eyes, searching desperately for any sign of my real mate.
“Leena,” I said, my voice breaking. “If you can hear me… please fight. Remember our wedding. Remember the night in the hole. Remember our children’s laughter. I love you. Come back to me.”
For a split second, I felt it a flicker of warmth through the mate bond. Real Leena. Pain. Love. Desperation. Then it was gone, swallowed by darkness.
Gotham hissed and snatched her hand away. “Enough of this pathetic bond. She is mine now.”
Before I could respond, the door opened. The children ran in, their small faces determined. Ryker led them, holding Elara’s hand while Thorne followed close behind. They must have sneaked away from their guards.
“Mummy!” Elara cried, running toward her.
Gotham’s eyes widened in fear. She stepped back quickly, raising my hands defensively.
“Stay away!” she shouted. “Don’t come closer!”
But the children didn’t stop. They stood together in front of her, holding hands. Their small bodies trembled, but they didn’t run.
Ryker looked up with brave eyes. “You are not our mummy. Give her back.”
Suddenly, all three of their eyes began to glow bright golden. The light was pure and powerful, filling the room like warm sunlight breaking through storm clouds. It wrapped around the children like a shield, growing stronger with every second.
Gotham screamed in pain. She clutched my head with both hands, stumbling backward.
“No!” she shrieked, her multi-layered voice cracking. “Not this light! Stay away from me!”
The golden glow intensified. Gotham fell to her knees, my body shaking violently. The light seemed to burn her from the inside. I could feel it too a warm, loving energy pushing against the darkness.
Inside my mind, I pushed harder than ever before. The golden light from my children gave me strength. For a moment, I felt my fingers twitch again. My real voice almost broke through.
Damian… I’m here…
Gotham screamed louder, curling my body into a ball on the floor. The golden light pressed against her, forcing her back. Damian rushed forward and dropped to his knees beside her, his eyes wide with hope.
“Leena!” he shouted. “Fight her! Our children are helping you! Come back to us!”
The children kept holding hands, their golden eyes shining brighter. Tears ran down their faces, but they didn’t stop.
Gotham thrashed on the floor, my body convulsing. “No… no… get out of my head! This body is mine!”
For one beautiful second, the red glow in my eyes flickered. Leena’s real warmth pushed through. I felt her love for Damian and the children surge through the bond like a tidal wave.
But then Gotham roared in fury and slammed me back down. The golden light dimmed. She forced my body to stand up, breathing heavily, my face twisted in pain and rage.
“You little monsters,” she hissed at the children. “I will deal with you later.”
She turned and ran out of the room, my body moving unsteadily. Damian tried to follow, but she slammed the door with dark energy, locking it behind her.
I was pushed back into the darkness again, exhausted but not defeated.
The children’s power had hurt her.
It had given us all a spark of hope.
Damian stood in the room with the triplets, pulling them into his arms. His voice was thick with emotion.
“You did it,” he whispered to them. “You scared her. Your real mummy felt that. She is still fighting. We are going to bring her home.”
The children hugged him tightly, their golden eyes slowly fading back to normal.
I kept fighting inside, holding onto that hope with everything I had left.
Gotham was strong.
But our family’s love was stronger.
……..
DAMIAN POV
I burst through the door without knocking. The old healer looked up from his table, surrounded by ancient scrolls. His eyes widened when he saw my face.
“Alpha? What happened now?” he asked, standing up quickly.
I walked closer, breathing hard. “She announced it. Gotham said in three days all the weak ones, the old, the sick, the children who can’t fight will be taken to the temple for sacrifice. She is really going to do it. She wants to perform the same dark ritual she tried centuries ago. We can’t let this happen. The people will never forgive her… they will never forgive us if we allow it.”
The healer’s face turned pale. He staggered back and sat down heavily on his chair, his hands shaking.
“If she starts the sacrifice again…” he whispered in panic, “a lot of innocent lives will be lost. She will drain their life force to grow stronger. This is worse than I thought. We must act fast. We cannot allow her to carry this out.”
I dropped to my knees in front of him, desperation clear in my voice. “Then tell me what to do. suffering. How do we stop her before it’s too late?”
The healer ran a trembling hand over his face. He looked exhausted and confused. “I have checked every scroll again and again. Everything keeps pointing back to the blood bond.
I stayed quiet for a moment, then decided to tell him everything.
“The children… their eyes glowed golden again ,” I said. “When Gotham tried to hurt me, they stood together and their eyes shone with pure light. It burned her. She was screaming in pain and fear. She ran away from them. Maybe… maybe the bond isn’t just between me and Leena. Maybe it includes the children too. Their blood. Our family bond.”
The healer’s eyes suddenly lit up. He sat up straighter, his face filling with understanding.
“Yes!” he said, his voice rising with hope. “That is it. The blood bond was never only about you and Leena. It includes the children. Their pure bloodline, combined with your mate bond, creates a much stronger light. That is why their golden eyes affected her so much. The family bond is the key.”
He stood up quickly and walked to a wooden chest in the corner. He pulled out a thick, old rope with strange glowing symbols carved into it.
“This rope has powerful spells on it,” he explained. “Once it is tied around her wrists, even Gotham will not be able to break free easily. It will hold her long enough for us to perform the full family bond ritual. You, Leena, and the three children together. Their golden power mixed with your mate bond should be strong enough to cast her out.”
I took the rope carefully, feeling its warmth in my hands. “How do I do it?”
“Get close to her,” the healer said. “Be nice. Pretend to submit. Do not make her suspicious. Find the right moment and tie her hands with this rope. Once it is done, bring her to me. We will perform the ritual here. The children must be present. Their love for their mother will be the final push.”
I nodded, my heart beating faster with both fear and hope. “I will do it. I promise. I will find a way to tie her without raising suspicion.”
The healer placed a hand on my shoulder. “Be careful, Alpha. Gotham is clever. She will sense any weakness. But your love for Leena and the children is your greatest strength. Use it.”
I left the hut with the spelled rope hi
dden under my shirt. As I rode back to the palace, my mind was made up.
I would get close to Gotham. I would protect my children. And I would bring my Leena back. No matter what it took.
