Chapter 29
Vladimir's Pov.
The massacre was a huge disaster as Luke kept filling me up with complaints and the list of things that needed to be replaced and fixed in the Clan.
They were angry and forming a riot against me right now, outside the mansion but it was the least of my concerns.
There's nothing money can't fix except they have a personal Vendetta against me.
"At this rate, I'm not sure they are going to stop. They went all hot on your --"
"What?" I threw him a stern glare and he swallowed his words. "No Luke, complete that sentence. You said they went hot on who?"
"Your chosen Queen, it was that bad."
"Except if they have a death wish or more, they should try that again," Draven spoke without lifting his gaze off the cell phone.
The mother fucker was seated on my wine stand instead of the couch, Lucian was just there, staring blankly at Luke and me with his green eyes and all I did was sit up to address my guard who looked tensed.
"As much as I don't like that fool, he's right about his words. Except they have a death wish! Submit all the complaints and the damaged items to the financial team to start working on it, the budget is limitless because I want my Clan to come back bright and beautiful!" I told him and he nodded, bowing in agreement before leaving.
"You're not supposed to exist Draven, you shouldn't be able to lift your eyeball to look at me after the rubbish you've done. How could you destroy my Clan, you would have tampered with the whole city if I hadn't intervened!" I spat out in fury and glared at him.
"Says a Psychopath that went with Mithril's poison to my Kingdom to destroy my people. In other words, you didn't have access because I was smarter than you."
I ticked my jaw and refused to say a word because it was a slap to my face and the fact that he was right drove me nuts.
I didn't like that he was smart, a deranged psychopath who found pleasure in causing pain and watching people burn. I was going to destroy his city too but Draven's method was way worse. I mean, who the hell plays around with fire?
"I'll say the both of you are fucking stupid! Especially Vladimir, I was looking forward to your death." Lucian added dryly, resting his frame on the soft leather couch and looking Intimidating as ever.
One look at the three of us and I bet they would choose him as the King here because of his huge frame and workout muscles that bulge from his fabric.
I didn't like them at all and I doubt we will ever get along no matter what happens.
"Too bad Flower chased that away and now, I'm immune to that thing called death."
"What a joker, but are your Clan members this loud? This shit won't last a minute in my pack, what's it with the noise?" Lucian scoffed and I bit my lips.
"They want justice, they want their voice to be heard and their problems to be solved. In any Vampiric Clan, the opinions of the people matter a lot but it won't be the case."
"Why?"
"Because Draven caused the fire! He should be the one to appease them and not tell me to leave my chosen one for him for peace to reign." I told Lucian who eyed the juice the housemaid was presenting to him and I took mine. It was a routine for me to drink a glass of blood every morning before breakfast to avoid any random thirst later but this time, I'm filled to the brim so I opted for a normal fruit juice.
I've never felt so energized and powerful since I drank Evelyn's blood last night. My body moved in such a fluid that scared me because if I walked too fast, I could as well fly out of the room Instead. I felt fresh and my throat had detested any other blood at the moment.
Draven wasn't interested in the juice but the maid dropped it anyway. Lucian gulped the juice and I gulped the juice too for the first time in the morning instead of blood. It made me feel more human and my body had never anticipated to see her again. She was still sleeping when I left her on my bed this morning and we were going to wait till she woke up and have our breakfasts together.
However, my uncle chose the perfect time to interrupt me with his presence. He was like a father figure in my life since my dad died, extremely strict and the oldest Vampire to live with his archaic rules.
He Cherished the fifth rule of the Vampires which made me slowly detest him. In Our Clan, back in the olden days, different powerful Kings had their rules. The first King to start ruling created his law and made the people abide by it. It was a gruesome monarchy with a communist law that made people live in fear. That happened about ten thousand years ago before he died, the next King brought a worse law than the first one, and that caused a lot to die. He ruled with such cruelty that made people crazy and he lived so long for eight thousand years.
The third and fourth King made a simple law that made lives easy but they didn't last long due to political feuds among these greedy elders in position. The fifth King came and brought back the worst law of the second king but he died early making me take over as the sixth King.
But I didn't impose any law, at least not yet aside from using the law of the third and fourth King since I didn't see any need to change their law, it was good and centered on the needs of the people but my uncle and brother called me weak.
Especially my brother who made sure to rub it on my face that I was ruling like a woman when I can be ruthless than a devil without showing it.
"We are not going to be having this in our Clan Vladimir! In a space of a few days, things have already turned into a disaster. Scented Skies is now known across other Clans as a den of danger all thanks to your chosen mate.
If the blood Vane Queen won't tell you the truth, then I'll do that myself and save you from the impending doom!" He spat out and I could commend and applaud his bravery.
He wasn't scared of Draven and the fucker had his head raised, his hair looking like a refined precious treasure, and his eyes were always ready for Mishap or destruction.
"And what could that impending danger be?" I asked him.
"Your chosen, their mates! It's Barbaric. You need to let go and we'll find a bride Vladimir or our Clan would be a den of coal or ash and a breeding space for the wolves to tear our flesh apart." Lucian cocked his head at him but didn't say a word.
"Where was this bride when the blood moon was consuming my soul last night?" I ask my Idiotic uncle whose nose flared against my words. " Or the impatient Clan members too, I don't want to hear this. There was a fire outbreak and it's going to be fixed, no arguments about my chosen Uncle Pedro."
"She's not even a Vampire, she's human. Not all prophecy comes to pass with a happy ending. At times you need to defile what you think will make you happy and do the needful."
"I agreed with him on this one alone" Lucian interrupted and I glared at him.
"Shut up!" I turned to my uncle with a stern glare and asked him to stay off my business, Clan, and act like a normal elder and member, not Like my late dad or mum but he only grew ferocious with his words and left a threat.
"If all of this is not considered for the time being, we'll be forced to use the 10th rule of the Fifth law on you. You know we have the power to do that no matter your special ability as the blood moon."
Blood freezes in my body at that threat and I watched him exit my presence.
He had no right, no fucking right to tell me he could make me useless Indirectly.
"I'm killing that man," I tell no one in particular with a growl, I don't care if he's family.
"Let me guess, the tenth rule of the fifth Vampire law is losing your powers right? Thereby becoming useless and losing rights and dignity as the king."
I glared at him and stood up, feeling blank and thinking of the next way to abolish that rule my uncle so much adored.
"I need to study the Laws of my enemies, I know about Zyone Kingdom too so don't be surprised if I know more than you do."
Proud thwart!
I wasn't going to let that happen, I'll crush the little life he's holding dear and send his wife and kids to the main mansion. Maybe he would learn to mind his business, a loud thud sounded in my ears and made my feet tremble which made me revert my gaze immediately only to find Lucian on the ground.
"Lucian?" I called wondering why he would stoop so low to be playing childish games but he wasn't moving and his eyes were shut.
"What the..." I couldn't complete my sentence as I was hit with my share of a life-gripping weakness that blinded my vision. It was like a laser gas was poured into my eyes as I fell to the ground and tried so hard to stare at Draven who was still sitting in the same spot, scrolling through his phone without moving.
A sharp pain tore at my guts and streaked down to my stomach, leaving me in a painful silence.
I'll kill Draven, I'll make sure I do that if I escape this because that motherfucker must have poisoned the juice I drank.
