Chapter 14
Evelyn Pov.
The pain was so sharp that I fell to the ground and fear coursed through my entire being.
My baby!
I gasped again and screamed but none of the workers seemed to give a damn about how I felt at the moment aside from working like they were possessed, inhuman robots, my pelvic bone twitched painfully, I tried to get up and held a lady beside me but she pushed me to the ground instead and yelled.
"I'm also pregnant!! Stop acting as if you're the only one in this predicament and work, your share of work is waiting for you and you will be the only one to work here!" She transferred her pain and aggression to me and I bit my lips to stare at the heap of files I was supposed to move from the basement to the store and a painful cry erupted from my lips.
I had to work, and get the hell out here immediately. I couldn't leave even if I wanted to and I still had a lot to unravel, my life and this world had suddenly turned me naive and stupid since I came back, I don't want to regret leaving those kings, but with the way things are moving rapidly in delusions, I'm beginning to nag painfully at the depth of my chest, I feel cranky, heady and so dizzy but I had to fight it to face reality and began to work.
"So she was faking the pains all this while?" One of the ladies blurted out and the rest chuckled.
" As usual, she wanted to take the spotlight by acting like she's the Queen of the universe but it's unfortunate because she's facing reality in Atkins air!" A bout of laughter echoed and I flared at them.
"I wasn't faking it a bit, and you should be careful with your words too, I don't need to wear a crown before I actually be a Queen!"
"You look so pathetic sounding desperate and helpless then suddenly sounding like a warrior, I won't be surprised once you're sacked by the new boss or your father comes here to beg the manager to let you work here and increase your pay but now, you're claiming to be pregnant with pride without a single father to claim." I swallowed hard at her words as they hit me hard, I didn't know what I had gotten myself into or what had been happening but the latter words hit me so hard.
"Isn't she shameless?" She asked the others and they openly called me a slut and harsh names to remind me of the word I'm in, tears lurked in my eyes.
Those kings weren't stupid to come over to claim me and the baby, what was I thinking leaving them? Which man would want to take responsibility for another child?
I tried not to weep at my stupidity but worked my ass off till I was done. My back ached, my stomach still hurt but not as the initial feeling and it was evening.
I saw Cassidy who sat at the reception waiting for me and she stood up immediately, walking towards me.
"You shouldn't have talked back at Felicity, she's fierce. I thought you knew that, she's dating the new boss too." She said in a whisper and the tears I had been holding rushed down and she tried to wipe it but I shook my head.
"You thought I knew that? I don't even know where I am and what the hell is going on. Tell me Cassy, when was the last time you spoke to your Aunty?".
A frown creased on her face and she released a sigh, "That was five years ago." She blurted out and I shook my head in disbelief, could it be there's a change in the time zone, how can hours turn into years?
"Something isn't right? Do you even know how I got pregnant?" I asked her and she frowned, she looked surprised for a while and tried to shut her eyes to remember when she screamed all of a sudden and it scared the shit out of me.
"Evelyn!" She gasped and sat down Abruptly, her eyes widened as if she saw horror and curiosity burned through me like a flame.
"I saw a flash but my head felt heavy and a painful strike occurred?" She explained and I sighed, I wanted to ask more but she pushed me up.
You need to report to Felicity, get your file and present It to the boss. Then. I'll take you home while you tell everything."

"Stupid clumsy Idiot! How can you stain these valid documents with such an ugly ink huh?" Felicity yelled at me and threw the file at my face, I didn't know anything about the file but I was sure as hell that she was the only one to stain it so she could display her authority and act all saucy.
"Take this to the new boss without wasting a breath, we all need to go home so don't waste a breath." She added and dismissed me instantly, making me take my leave and drag my tired self to the New CEO's office.
After knocking twice without a response, I pushed the door open and entered.
He sat down, backing me and staring at the streets through the transparent glass. He has a broad back, a dirty brown hair and I could tell his cockiness from his long legs crossed against each other.
I cleared my throat and dropped the file, "I appreciate your patience in waiting till this time to get this file, it won't be happening again." I said, and he turned abruptly and his eyes deliberately swept all over my body.
"Name?" He asked curtly and I swallowed.
"Evelyn."
'You're late not because you are sorry but because you want alone time with me." His deep voice circulated the room with so much pride, as if he was born to talk that way, I wouldn't ignore his gangster look and the tons of piercings which was so inappropriate for a professional CEO.
"Excuse me?" I scoffed in irritation at his words.
" But I don't have any condoms with me, are you clean? I don't mind going raw." He added and my hands shook, my feet moved and I slapped him so hard that he gasped and stood up abruptly.
"I'm not one of your flings! I came to give you that shitty file and not fuck you! I have League of Kings. I'd rather beg to let them see me naked than a pervert like you." I was tired of being seen as a slut or being tagged as one.
"What the hell?" He yelled. "Then why dress that way, exposing those laps and navel!" He retorted and I glared at him.
"A pregnant lady needs to give her Baby some fresh air and the hell you're looking for will come to you if you keep up with this act! Pervert!!" I fired at him and walked out, feeling so pissed only to meet another nightmare, waiting for me at home.
