Chapter 166
Chapter 166
Erin's POV
No, no, no! That self-sacrificing IDIOT! I howled internally, unconsciously tearing my own shirt to make emergency bandages for her wound.
"Chris," I looked up, determination filling my eyes. "You need to get her somewhere safe. She needs treatment immediately."
"What about you?" His face was pale.
"I'm going to find Alexander."
"No way, it's too dangerous! You can't—"
"I'm stronger than you think," I said firmly, then let the power of transformation sweep through my body. Bones broke and realigned, fur rapidly covered skin, and within seconds, I had transformed into a white wolf.
Take care of her, I sent the thought to Chris before turning and racing deeper into the forest.
My wolf form heightened my senses dramatically. Alexander's scent was distinct in the air, mixed with the metallic smell of blood. He's hurt! This realization made my heart clench, and I increased my speed.
Passing through a dense grove, I found two Black Stone guards lying by a rock, covered in wounds, their breathing weak.
Hold on, help is coming soon, I gently nudged one of them with my nose.
"Alpha... east... creek..." he pointed in a direction with his last strength, his eyes slowly closing.
A piercing wolf howl cut through the night sky, nearly freezing my blood. Alexander! I sprinted toward the sound.
Cresting a small hill, I spotted two East Claw werewolves tracking something. Their massive forms looked especially fierce in the moonlight, noses close to the ground, clearly following Alexander's scent.
If I could draw them away... A bold plan formed in my mind. I deliberately stepped on a branch, the sound jarringly loud in the silent forest.
Both werewolves immediately turned toward me, dangerous red lights flashing in their eyes.
"Look what we have here," the larger one let out a deep chuckle, his voice resonating directly in my mind. "A little lost Omega."
"She smells delicious," the other one licked his lips, moving closer to me. "Perhaps we could enjoy this appetizer first."
My muscles tensed, my heart thundering, but outwardly I pretended to cower, backing up a few steps. Need to make them think I'm easy prey...
Just as the larger werewolf lunged at me, I nimbly dodged to the side, my claws accurately slashing across his eyes. He howled in pain, blood streaming from his eyes, temporarily blinded.
Before the second one could react, I had already clamped my jaws around the first one's hamstring, my sharp teeth sinking deep into muscle, tasting the warmth and iron of blood.
"Filthy bitch!" he roared, trying to shake me off, but my bite force prevented him from easily breaking free.
The second werewolf quickly recovered, pouncing at me from the side. I tried to dodge, but his claws still raked across my flank, tearing flesh. Pain shot through my body like electricity, involuntarily loosening my grip as I let out a pained growl.
Damn, too fast! I cursed my carelessness. Warm blood trickled down my gray fur, but I couldn't show weakness. Gritting my teeth against the pain, I continued to maneuver against the two werewolves.
They began coordinating their attacks—one drawing my attention from the front while the other tried to ambush from the side. They're trying to surround me... My adrenaline spiked, every muscle stretched to its limit.
Just as I was about to be cornered, a black shadow burst from the depths of the forest, crashing into one of the werewolves like a cannonball. The powerful impact sent the target flying, howling in pain.
Alexander! My heart nearly leaped out of my chest.
His black wolf form was more majestic than I remembered. Despite obvious wounds on his forelegs and blood-soaked fur, the fire burning in those blue eyes made both enemies instinctively step back.
You shouldn't be here! His voice roared in my mind, filled with anger and concern. It's too dangerous!
I couldn't let you face this alone, I responded, our gazes meeting in the air, brief but electric.
Without further words, Alexander turned to the enemies, baring his fangs with a threatening growl. The larger East Claw werewolf seemed to recognize him, a flash of fear crossing his eyes before being replaced by bloodthirsty frenzy.
"Ravenclaw," he taunted, "Fletcher will be pleased to have your head as a trophy."
Alexander didn't respond, instead launching a sudden attack, moving like lightning. His strength was staggering—each impact produced audible bone-on-bone collisions. I followed closely, targeting the second werewolf's vulnerabilities.
Our coordination was remarkably seamless. When Alexander pinned one werewolf head-on, the other tried to attack from the side. I immediately leaped up, biting his hind leg, throwing him off balance. Alexander seized the moment, viciously biting at the enemy's throat.
Truly an Alpha, I marveled internally at Alexander's elegant yet deadly fighting style. Each movement was precise and lethal, without the slightest hesitation.
Just as we were about to claim victory, one of the werewolves suddenly threw his head back in a long howl that echoed through the night sky.
He's calling for backup! Alexander immediately alerted, We must leave, NOW!
We raced through the forest, Alexander's familiarity with the terrain buying us precious time. The wolf howls from behind grew more numerous, confirming East Claw reinforcements were approaching. My side wound burned fiercely, each step feeling like knives cutting into me, but I gritted my teeth and persevered, determined not to slow us down.
Almost there, Alexander reassured, frequently glancing back to check on me. Just hold on a little longer.
We crossed an open area, moonlight washing over us. Suddenly, a massive shadow leaped down from a high rock, landing heavily on top of me!
The force of impact knocked the breath from my lungs, my vision momentarily blackening. When I came to, I found a gray-white werewolf nearly twice the size of a normal one pinning me firmly to the ground, his fangs inches from my face, fetid breath washing over me.
"Such a sweet-smelling Omega," he greedily licked his lips, his voice echoing directly in my mind. "I've always wondered what Ravenclaw's plaything would taste like."
His paw pressed hard on my wounded side, the pain nearly making me pass out. The next second, his massive jaws clamped around my ankle, violently hurling me toward a nearby tree trunk!
Pain flooded in like a tidal wave. I felt at least three ribs crack. The giant wolf approached, bloodlust gleaming in his eyes.
Just as the monster prepared to deliver a killing blow, a black blur shot forward with incredible speed, ramming into the giant wolf and sending him staggering backward. Alexander stood protectively in front of me, his fur bristling with rage as he roared, DON'T TOUCH HER!
