Chapter 34 MAKE ME PREGNANT

Chapter 34 MAKE ME PREGNANT
For a moment, neither of us spoke.

“I was devastated,” he continued. “Your grandfather had already given his approval to another man. I was willing to fight for us. I was ready to do whatever it took. But the one person who should have fought beside me had already given up.”

His fingers curled into fists.

“So I did the only thing I could do.”

He held my gaze.

“I let her go.”

The sadness in his eyes was so raw that it stole my breath.

“I had flings after that,” he admitted. “But I never had another serious relationship.”

A heavy silence settled between us.

I offered him a small, sympathetic smile.

Their story felt like something torn from a primetime drama—beautiful, painful, and impossibly unfair.

“It sounds like a tragedy,” I whispered.,” I murmured. “Your love story sounds like a Drama.”

Then my curiosity got the better of me.

“But answer me honestly.”

I met his eyes.

“Do you still love her?”

I saw the movement of his throat as he swallowed.

His jaw tightened before he finally spoke.

“I loved her.”

Past tense.

My brows drew together.

“Wait,” I said, staring at him. “Did you say loved? With a ‘d’?”

A faint smile touched his lips.

“Yes.”

“You loved her in the past.”

Confusion and disbelief battled inside me.

“Meaning?”

He reached over and pinched my nose.

“Silly.”

I slapped his hand away with a scowl.

“You know,” I said, leaning back with a sigh, “this is exactly why I want nothing to do with love. Too much pain, too much drama. But maybe God really does have a plan. Maybe there’s someone else meant for you.”

I offered him a small smile.

“And maybe that person isn’t my sister.”

The grin that spread across his face was slow and dangerously charming.

“And what if,” he asked, his voice warm with amusement, “that person is you?”

My heart stuttered.

I rolled my eyes before he could notice.

“In your dreams.”

The words landed softly, but they struck with the force of thunder.

I pretended not to be affected.

While we are talking, I noticed him repeatedly rubbing his shoulders, guilt and sympathy overcame my defenses.

“By the way, does your back hurt? You’ve been squirming this entire time.”

He groaned and rotated his shoulders.

“Yes,” he muttered. “As fck.”

“I’ll give you a massage,” I said, narrowing my eyes at Rare Cedrick. “But you have to promise to behave. You know exactly what I mean.”

The corners of his lips lifted in a deliberately innocent smile.

“And what, exactly, do you mean by that?”

“Oh geez, stop pretending!”

I smacked him lightly on the back.

He immediately winced and clutched his shoulder.

“Sht. That hurt, baby.”
