CHAPTER 30

Lucius’s POV.

I opened my eyes and there she was, lying in my arms. Her eyes were closed while she peacefully stayed asleep and I was tempted to run my hands all over her body, again. But I didn't want to wake her up, so I sat up in bed and stretched a little. I felt thirsty. Or maybe I just wanted tea.

Regardless, I stood up and went to make it. I didn't bother putting my bathrobe back on. I smiled while picking up two mugs facing down on the dining table and some tea bags available for use. I was happy doing something for someone else. It felt so affectionate and I couldn't help but let loose. I blushed in the space of no one else to see. Just me. It was now I knew. I didn't just care for this girl. I kind of liked her. The best part was she was my wife now. It was hard now to imagine I'd married one of the other girls.

I shook my head while I boiled water with the electric kettle and waited for it to be ready. I remembered Matias' words to me like he said it yesterday. Now that Anna had told me her reason for staying, I was glad I didn’t bother listening to him. I felt so proud of my decision and I started to taste the air of the morning like I could feel my day already blessed. It was such a nice morning.

I turned around to check for Anna, making sure she wasn't somewhere watching me, while I smiled so much like my dog just had puppies. I cleared my throat, knowing how much I'd dislike her to just walk in on me any time from now and see me in this very mood, so I manned up and poured out the hot water into each mug and made the tea.

I put them on a tray and proceeded into the room. I tried not to stretch my lips into another smile when I saw her awake on her feet and staring back at me as I walked in. Suddenly, she turned around like she was about to run the opposite way from me and I froze, a frown appearing on my face immediately.

"I'm so sorry!" She apologized and I began to understand the situation.

"You're so sorry? You're apologizing because you're seeing me naked?" I wished my own question didn't sound amusing.

I dropped the tray on the bed and moved towards her when she refused to respond, again and I went so close to her back that I could feel myself almost breathing down her neck. Just being this close to her was playing with my senses and I was on the verge of pushing her back to the bed.

You know you're just as naked as I am, too, right?"

She said nothing and I couldn't hold back anymore. I lifted my hands, circled them around her waist and kissed her neck. Her skin was smooth under my lips and I could feel her temperature rise.

"I made tea for you. Thought you might need it." I whispered and she finally spoke.

"Right. Thank you." She said but hadn't turned around yet. I figured she was waiting for something.

"You want me to put some clothes back on?'

"Yes, please."

I laughed and pulled away. I knew it. I pulled my bathrobe back on and gave her hers to wear. She put it back on and joined me to take our tea while we spoke about our honeymoon. Every now, and then, I couldn't stop admiring her while she spoke, while she conversed with me. I enjoyed it. How she'd become free and how she'd grown enthusiastic about talking to me or responding to any conversation.

While she showed eagerness to begin the honeymoon, I had to tell her about a meeting I was supposed to attend. There was no escaping business once I was in Paris.

"A meeting? Did you really come here for a meeting or to spend your honeymoon with your wife?"

She didn't seem happy about it but I had no choice.

"It will be a quick one. Trust me."

"Yeah, meetings are always so quick." She still didn't buy it and I turned around nonetheless to head into the bathroom to dress up.

I planned to begin the honeymoon today, though. After all, I had nothing much to do since I'd put Bruno in charge. I spent only a little time in the bathroom and stepped out again. By then, Anna's mood had changed. She seemed to just be done with her tea and she was holding the tray of empty mugs, while I walked out with only a towel wrapped around my waist.

She stood up and proceeded to walk past me.

"The tea was quite delicious. Thank you." She tried to smile but I saw past it and wasn't easily fooled, again. I wanted the mood to remain lively, at least.

"Wait." I called and she stopped to look back. "Are you nervous about me stepping out of the bathroom, again?"

"Nope."

"Is it covering what you want to see?" I tried again, hoping to keep the mood lively at least, but it didn't work and she wasn't having it.

"Covering what I want to see?" She frowned and I became worried.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, but it was all the same. Worse, even because now she called me husband and all my good mood for the morning disappeared.

Husband? I followed her all the way to the dining to confront her, but at last, she proved there was nothing more I could do and she walked out on me, leaving me standing there and confused. I couldn't quite place my thoughts in the right place.

Was this her subtle way of saying she wanted nothing more but just sex? And here I was thinking there was something more to it. I slapped my hands to my face and dragged down out of frustration. I finally made up my mind to stop stressing and I clenched my fists.

I walked back to the room and didn't even give her the opportunity of a single glance. She was there on the bed, yet I dressed up and walked out with my phone and without saying another word to her.

I got outside of the hotel and Dominick already got a car ready for me as instructed. I joined him in the passenger's seat in front and he drove off soon as I was settled in.

"Bruno called." Dominick voiced out to me and I turned to see his jaws clenching just in time to know it was bad news.

"What happened?" I tried not to sound worried.

"It's your uncle. He's in town."

"Matias?" I gritted my teeth and Dominick didn't bother acting surprised by my reaction. It had always been obvious I never got along with my uncle and he never really visited the club in Paris, nor ever traveled with me unless he wanted something. And something really big at that. I couldn't bear to imagine what it was.

The last thing he requested from me during his last visit to Paris had been very annoying and I never wanted to go through the same process, again even in a million years to come.

"Drive faster." I ordered and his face jerked towards me.

"Boss?"

"Just drive faster." I said without looking at his face. "I don't want my anger subsiding before we get there."

"Yes, boss." He switched the gear and drove the car faster to our destination.

I got down and didn't wait for Dominick. I marched down into the club and then went still when I spotted Matias at a table on the second floor. He was with a lady and I recognized her. She was the one who'd made it to the last round with Anna in the competition.

I adjusted my tie, feeling it suddenly choking me a little bit and then approached them.

"Lucius!" Matias threw his hands out to me as if for a hug while he still sat in his seat. "Finally!"

I said nothing and stood by their table, staring down at them like my eyes were capable of committing murder of opportunity. Eloise crossed her legs, a sign of being nervous or anxious by my aggressive mood. I let her think whatever she wanted to while I focused on Matias.

"We need to talk." I said.

"You need to sit." He threw back and folded his hands while looking up at me gazing done upon them.

"Matias." The corner of my lips twitched and I bent down a little, staring deeper into his eyes and daring him to say no.

"Fine." He rolled his eyes and stood up, following me quite away from the table. We got to a distance far enough and we stopped.

I looked over my shoulder and as I expected, the lady's eyes were fixated on us.

"I thought we were past this." I said and he just smiled while crossing his hand over my shoulder.

"I know you're married, but it doesn't matter. I've got an idea. You can get married to Miss Eloise as well. I've promised her you will, so now it's settled."

"What?" I snapped my eyes at him and he grinned, showing all his teeth like he just said the most clever thing in the world."
