Chapter 35 "Threat"
Damon narrating:
After threatening the reporter, I went to rest for a while. After discovering what I did, there wouldn't be any reason to blame the clinic anymore, and as I always get what I want, by my methods, of course, the idiot would publish what needed to be published, so Elena would be happy, and that's it. It was just a conman who died.
I confess I couldn't stop thinking about Elena for a second. Us watching series together, us kissing, this woman left me speechless and occupied almost a part of my thoughts. Her kiss was everything I had ever dreamed of, and the best part was that she liked it too. Remembering that, my body tingled in a split second, and I felt something stiffen, damn it, focus on something else, Damon. Damn, what is this girl doing to me! I confess I was fascinated, lost in my thoughts about her. And seriously, I think I hate almost everyone in this life, except her.
It was already time for that useless reporter to do the right thing. So, I asked the guys responsible for him to make sure he posted a clarification about everything that actually happened and cleared the clinic's name, while I would do something else. I was going to investigate the sender's email address that I found on Elena's computer, and I would find out at all costs; I didn't believe Elena did it. So, I would use my skills to find out.
"Take care of the reporter and make sure he's doing everything right. I'll be busy, and I don't want anyone bothering me unless it's urgent," I told the security guards responsible for the treacherous idiot.
"Okay, boss," they replied in unison.
I left the office and went to my room, definitely determined to investigate this email. I bumped into Dulce in the kitchen; she had made a passion fruit mousse, one of my favorite desserts. I grabbed a bowl and went upstairs. I spent hours and hours, piecing together some clues to see if I arrived at any results, any loose ends, there was always a slip-up. I came to a conclusion, and I was shocked, figlio di puttana. I no longer knew who to trust, but I knew that Elena had never had contact with this guy; I knew someone was trying to incriminate her, but who? Unless she's a really good liar, I would give her the benefit of the doubt until there's evidence against her.

Leonardo narrating:
I had found out through my bribed security, whom I paid to keep a close eye on my dear nephew, that he was digging deeper into the investigation about Elena. I couldn't let anything happen; I had to find a way to make Elena appear completely guilty in a way that Damon would have no doubts she was a traitor and annul this marriage. I had my reasons for such a desire.
I just didn't know how I could incriminate her. I thought a bit, and I had a trump card in hand, an object that Damon wouldn't have any doubts about Elena's disloyalty. So, I called the doctor I had infiltrated into the clinic; he was insufferable, but I needed his help for a little job. It wouldn't be that hard for him to find a small chance to place something in Elena's bag. And he would do it for me.
I called him.
"Hey, I need you to do something for me."
"What do you want? I've told you I'm not your slave, and I'm tired of your threats, you jerk."
"I need you to come to me and pick something up. Then, find an opportunity to put something in Elena's bag. You need to take advantage while Damon is away."
He laughed as if I were telling a joke or something. But I was dead serious.
"I'm not doing anything against her. I'm tired; you don't control me, you idiot."
"Oh, what a shame, right," I said mockingly. "I wasn't even planning on paying a visit to your mother, but I think she won't resist a charming man like me knocking on her door, at number 30." I emphasized the house number, so he'd know I knew where his mother lived and that I wasn't joking around.
"You... Don't you dare touch or come near my mother."
"Or what are you going to do? Get a grip; you have no choice. I'll send you the address by message; you know what to do." I ended the call.
I smiled. How good it felt to get everything I wanted. I didn't like manipulating and threatening people; I loved it, it was kind of a hobby for me.
