Bella's POV.
In the university, on the graduation farewell functions.
Farewell function? What crap for me because my parents care less about me. They didn't even bother to come, whereas everyone's family was here. I look like a lonely rich graduate who has come with her bodyguards. Lucas was following me while other bodyguards stayed outside the university gate.
And it was common for me to receive sharp glances from professors and students because they think I'm showing off my wealth and power by bringing ten bodyguards to university. Do I feel bothered? No, I absolutely have no interest in explaining to them my dad's plan.
My dad is basically scared that I will run away from my university which is why he asks my bodyguards to stick together with me in any situation.
I looked around, the university was bustling with parents, teachers and students. Even my so-called friends' parents have arrived. Sigh! I'm the unluckiest daughter. I walked into the hall room where everyone was supposed to sit and students would receive the awards.
Lucas followed me and sat beside me. And I don't know why I was feeling lonely, sad, and disappointed. I never had any expectations from my dad or mom, they hardly cared about my studies. Even when I was in school, Lucas would visit me at parent-teacher meetings.
Even though I hate Lucas, I still thank him for filling the void of parents in my life. Placing my right hand on his thighs, I slowly crept my fingertips up to his inner thighs. Although he was wearing pants, I could feel his thigh muscles getting stiff.
Leaning close to me he murmured," Young Miss, not here."
"I'm not doing anything, Lucas. I'm just bored, I want to return back."
"Hi, Bella. Where are your parents? Aren't they coming to your graduation farewell function?" My so-called friends asked, waving their hands from a distance.
I preferred to keep quiet and ignore them. But dammit', they sat in the same row of my seat with their parents and started belittling me by talking about me with their parents. My fist clenched in rage, I would rather throw a punch on their faces and end this fucking farewell function.
I was already pissed off because my dad said that the scum of my contract husband was arriving at my university. I shouldn't have believed him, that cold-blooded man has ignored me for a year.
"Attention please, be quiet everyone."
An announcement was made and the audience turned quiet instantly.
"Welcome Our chief guest, Mr Caspar Mcadam."
Another announcement was made, heads turned back to watch the tall muscular figure of a handsome man. I glanced at him and he looked familiar, the same hairstyle and hazel eyes radiating green spark in that dimly lit auditorium.
'Xavier Hill? The man I had a one night stand with is actually Caspar Mcadam? My husband ?’I muttered bitterly under my breath, feeling conflicted.
Have I been harboring lustful thoughts for my contract husband this long time? What should I do now? If he sees me and recognizes me as his wife, I'll be doomed. God, I'm so embarrassed to face him. I was about to leave when suddenly my name was called on the stage. God dammit', I'm screwed up.
"Young Miss, your name is being called for the award," Lucas whispers near me, jolting me out of my thoughts.
My body temperature reduced to zero causing me to freeze in nervousness. My feet instinctively started shaking as I slowly got up from my seat and walked towards the stage. I had no courage to lift my face up and face Caspar Mcadam who was standing on the stage with the trophy award.
Climbing the stairs of the stage, I finally arrived in front of Caspar Mcadam. Standing at six feet he looked down at me in curiosity while I was continuously praying to not let him recognise me. I have never believed in God , but if I'm saved today I promise to go to church every Sunday. Say prayers twice, no thrice a day. Just fucking save me today.
"Student of the year award goes to Bella Dior," the principal announced my name out loud and the clattering of hands clapping filled the auditorium.
I want the earth to crack and pull me inside. This is so embarrassing. Someone save me from this man, he's going to kill me.
Seeing me standing like a statue, the principal again added," Bella, please take the award from our chief guest."
I slowly extended my hand towards him and he gave me the trophy. As soon as I got hold of the trophy I decided to run but other professors and students crowded around me and Caspar Mcadam.
"Let's have a photo with the student of the year and Mr Caspar Mcadam."
The principal and other students cling to me and him, and I had to finally raise my head up. My eyes met the frown face of Caspar, he looked quite disappointed and angry. His thick eyebrows were furrowed together while his lips had that disgusted smile playing on. I know he was forcing himself to smile in front of the camera.
When the awkward photoshoot was over, Caspar and his assistant walked out of the auditorium. And I don't know why I ran behind him like a dumbass only to get ignored.
"Hey, let's talk this out. Xavier... No I mean Caspar, please hear me out..."
I called his name countless times but he continued walking towards the parking lot. God dammit', this man was like a living rocket, he walks like he's running in a contest. Okay, I shall show him the talent of an assassin.
Folding my blazer's sleeves, I dashed at him at full speed. Grabbing his wrist, I twirled him back forcing him to look at me.
"Are you fucking deaf? I said let's talk this out but you are fucking walking away."
He raised his left eyebrow, and sarcastically commented," Who are you? Oh my contract wife, right. We have never met before so be careful with your tone."
Wow, he's straightforwardly trying to pretend he doesn't know me. Claiming today is our first meeting whereas I have met him two times in the past.
