The sound of cheerful laughter was accompanied by a gentle breeze that blew away the strands of hair. A curl of the lips adorns the happy face of the couple. Enjoying this tranquil situation by giving and receiving a feeling that is said to be happiness.
A man dressed all in white, pulled the wrist of the girl in front of him in a single jerk. He deliberately made her bump into his broad chest. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist. Embracing her from behind with a smile that did not fade in the slightest.
Callista turned her head as she raised her gaze. She looked up at Kenward who was quite tall for a woman of her height. Her eyebrows shot up as if asking why he was acting so positively towards her today.
Kenward straightened his gaze again. "Illis, do you know how much I love you? So much that I would give everything I have to you."
Callista nodded her head. "Of course, I know that," replied Callista who could not understand Kenward's question. He was asking for the basis of their relationship.
Kenward released his embrace which made Callista turn her body to look at the man. She was puzzled by Kenward who had suddenly stepped backwards. What exactly did this man want to show? That was the sentence that filled her mind at the moment.
"Do you know how much I love you, Illis?" asked Kenward once again with a look that did not leave Callista for a second.
Callista nodded her head. "I know it. Now come closer to me." Callista spread her arms, making room again for Kenward.
Kenward shook his head softly. His feet had reached right to the edge of the cliff, making Callista want to run over. But Kenward quickly stopped that with the palm of his hand.
"Be careful, Kenward. You've reached the edge of the cliff," Callista panicked with a bad feeling.
Kenward turned his head, which made Callista do a heart exercise. The man with the same expression pointed to the bottom of the cliff below.
"Right here. This is where it all began. This is the reason for your painful encounter with me, Illis."
"Maybe I can call it revenge or maybe not. I don't regret it, because it was that feeling that led me to meet you." Kenward looked at his girl who looked very worried.
"If you find out one day, always remember that what you see may not be everything. There is always a reason behind actions. And you only need to remember this if that time comes, I love you very sincerely, Illis. There is nothing more precious than you in this world." Kenward smiled bitterly.
Callista nodded her head once more. "I know how deeply you feel for me. I love you too, Kenward. So now quickly move away from the edge of the cliff! It's very dangerous."
Kenward chuckled softly. "Dangerous? Everything I've been through to get to this point is more than dangerous. And I'm getting used to it."
Kenward spread his arms out to make Callista's worries explode. Her legs automatically ran to reach out to him.
"You'll know what it's like to lose someone you love, Illis." Kenward closed his eyes and let his body fall backward.
"Kenward!"
Callista immediately sat up from her sleep. Her breathing was ragged with beads of sweat running down her forehead. She grabbed the glass of mineral water on the nightstand and quickly downed it.
Callista, whose consciousness had not fully returned, jumped in surprise when she heard the sudden knock on the door. One of her hands immediately stroked her marathon-running chest.
"Miss Illis, are you home?"
"Miss? Miss Illis? Are you okay?"
Callista let out a long sigh when she heard another knock on the door. That familiar voice came from behind the door, a voice that seemed to be worried about her.
"Illis is fine, Auntie Neki. Illis was just having a nightmare!" Callista replied half shouting. The distance between the door and the bed was far enough for her to do so.
Callista was still silent with her position unchanged. Her forehead was furrowed as she was thinking about the nightmare that felt very real earlier. Callista was so seriously thinking about it that she did not hear the noise from the maids at her door.
Callista lifted the blanket. She lowered her legs down. "I forgot to take this off," she muttered under her breath. Even though this device had bad consequences if worn too often, she could forget that important fact.
Paying no heed to the voice in her mind that kept forbidding her, Callista simply left the pair attached to her legs. Later. She still wanted to enjoy the ease she felt thanks to this device.
The scraping sound of the door closing was followed by the sound of water gurgling. The milky-white feet were about to lead the owner to the bathtub filled with warm water. However, the footsteps were stopped as soon as she saw her reflection in the mirror. Since she was only wearing a tank top, everything was visible.
Her fingers moved to stroke the name engraved on her arm. KENWARD, the name was engraved in capital letters. Feeling that she had experienced something similar, Callista turned her body to stare at her back. Another sigh was heard as she looked at the two letters on her upper back. FK, it looked like an abbreviation.
Callista closed her eyes. A confusing feeling gripped her heart. The memories of her time with Kenward spun like a never-ending cassette tape.
Both of her arms embraced herself. She had lost the warmth she had just gotten out of the cold pit. Closing her eyes, Callista was fantasizing about someone embracing her body. But there was no one she could fantasize about except that psychopathic man.
She had painful to happy memories with Kenward. But why did she only remember those happy memories at this time? Memories where she and Kenward threw each other attention and a faint smile to the man's stature who always came when she needed him.
Callista woke up from her reverie. Her fingers rubbed her cheeks which were again covered in tears. She looked closely at her wet fingers. What was she crying for this time? Why was she being such a crybaby?
Callista raised her head, she was flooded with tears. Tears that were meant for who? For that psychopath?
It was true. She could not deny that she was currently missing Kenward. Missing a man who had tortured her without mercy.
Many questions beginning with the word why filled her head until it felt like exploding right now.
"Have I gone crazy? Just like that?" Callista wiped away her tears with a forearm.
"I've gone crazy apparently." Callista let out another cry with a roar. Regret tugged at her heart as she recalled her sharp words yesterday.
Her palms covered her entire face. "I miss him."
Callista looked at herself once more in the reflection of the mirror. Was she a girl who cared what people said? She was just a girl who would follow her heart.
Callista nodded firmly. She stepped over and submerged her body in the bathtub. Repeatedly washing her swollen eyes with warm water. She hoped that the warm water would help her.
After finishing her duck bath, Callista hurriedly looked at herself in the reflection of the bathroom mirror. Now, it was better than before. At least she didn't look like a homeless girl with a miserable appearance.
She quickly put on one of the casual clothes in the walk-in closet. A plain cream sweater that was oversized with a pair of blue jeans that only reached her thighs. Not caring about the outfit she was wearing, Callista immediately took the cell phone she used yesterday and put it into a black bag. She slung the bag over her shoulder.
"I have to get to the Kenward mansion right now!" she resolved.
