Chapter 63 Run!

'I love you, Illis' the phrase kept spinning in her head. Her brow furrowed deeply. Her heart was beating too fast to burst.

"I understand this doesn't sound reasonable. A ruthless psychopath has fallen in love with his prey. But I mean what I say, Illis."

Callista's hand flew quickly to the left cheek of the man before her. Her gaze was blazing. Kenward, who received a slap, could only accept it silently. He deserved that slap, no, he deserved more than that slap.

"You!" Callista stopped what she was saying because she couldn't bear the thought of hearing that.

"How could you dare mention the word love after everything you did to me?" Callista again wiped away her tears that had not stopped flowing.

"After you tortured me and gave me a new wound?"

Callista laughed crisply. "You're crazy, Kenward!" After saying that, Callista ran out.

Kenward had a dilemma about whether to follow her or not. His hands threw away all the ornaments that decorated his room.

"Arghh! Well, I've gone mad, Illis!"

His heartbreaking scream was followed by the sound of glass shattering all over the floor. He was cursing himself with expletives. He was guilty, very guilty.

Why? Why did he realize it too late? Too late to realize that the seed of love in his heart had sprouted for Callista. Why had he been so stupid just to realize the meaning of the comfort he felt when he was with Callista?

Kenward knelt, not worrying if his feet would be hit by broken glass. Why did the happiness he had gained after so long just disappear? Why was he so stupid to take his happiness away with his own hands? It hurts! Would his first love end painfully like this?

The pair of long legs stepped out quickly. Her arms moved to open the twin doors that towered over her. She didn't care if her bare feet were cold. All she could think of was run, run far away!

Her puffy eyes darted around, and all around the room was pitch black indicating all the maids had gone home, back to the cottage just a few steps away. Her sighs sounded long. Fortunately, she did not need to find a suitable excuse to explain her current disheveled state.

He broke through the darkness to get to the box that was closed. Since she had lived in this mansion since she was a child, she knew the structure of the mansion very well even with minimal lighting.

Callista bowed her head as the elevator took her to the top floor. Letting her hair fall over her face. She now desperately wanted to be in that room.

As soon as the door of the boxy thing opened, Callista hurriedly resumed her pending travels. She turned the corner as soon as she reached the room. She closed the door of the room with her back.

With slowed steps, Callista entered the room deeper and deeper. A bitter smile was printed on her lips. In a room that had deliberately not changed the position of the objects in it in the slightest to the high degree of difficulty of cleaning this room, the maids had managed to do that.

It was still the same. Until the scent that filled this room was still the same. A scent that made her heart swell with longing.

"Mommy," Callista whispered. The girl sat on the edge of the bed. One of her hands stretched out to reach the pillow that her mommy used to use when she was alive. She hugged the soft object tightly.

"Mommy, Illis misses you so much and also misses brother." Callista roughly wiped away the tears that trickled down her cheeks. Although she wanted to complain to her two loved ones up there, still she didn't want to show her messy appearance.

"Today was a tiring day for Illlis."

The sobbing she was holding back only intensified. Her shoulders moved up and down and the sound of crying that she had been holding back rapidly escalated.

"Illis... take Illis too ...." Her voice trembled, her eyes no longer clear because of the tears that were building up.

"Illis is tired. Illis wants to rest."

Her chest felt so tight that one hand hit it lightly. "Indeed...." the sobbing returned, causing her to pause. "It's not appropriate for Illis, who survived that time, to say this, but Illis really can't go through this... alone."

Callista buried her face into the pillow in her arms. She knew she shouldn't do this because it would ruin the memories of her mommy. But just once, let her let go of all the rules and principles of her life. She just wants to lean on. Even if it was to someone invisible to her eyes.

Callista looked up. "Mommy, brother, what should Illis do right now? Why is this half-heart hesitating when it comes to escaping from the source of the torture that is hurting me? Why am I made to feel indecisive just because that heartless man's eyes are glazed over because of me? Illis should feel happy seeing that."

Callista was silent for a while with a blank stare. She was calming herself down even though she knew for sure the voices in her mind would not go away easily. However, this was better than before.

Callista circulated her gaze again. Not wanting to let the darkness pounce on this room, she rose to her feet and quickly pressed the light switch. When the room was illuminated again, Callista suddenly narrowed her eyes. One of her hands was raised to block out the light.

She shuffled towards the bed, but her steps stopped. She turned her body ninety degrees, looking at herself in the mirror with a pitying look. Who is this? Did she know this very scary girl with swollen eyes?

Callista looked at the bed that was once occupied by her mommy. Her legs felt heavy to go there with her current appearance. Her two dearest people would feel sad if they saw her looking miserable.

Turning her direction, Callista slowly opened the door to this room. She looked again at the room that had lost its occupant.

"I will illuminate the night with light for you, Mommy."

Callista published a sweet smile. Her hand reached out to touch the doorknob. Slowly, her body disappeared, covered by the white door.
