The lithe hand lowered itself from its comfortable place. Stopping the movement of a circular object that kept spinning. The two men behind her, who were helping to push the wheelchair, inevitably stopped their footsteps.
Callista immediately turned to the source of the sound.
"Push me over there!" Callista ordered as she pointed at the festival stage. Obeying the orders of her boss's lover, they pushed the wheelchair according to the directions given.
A smile was beautifully etched upon seeing the decorations and furnishings that were indeed very deep into the setting of the play itself.
"They put a lot of effort into this play," Callista thought.
Her eyes lit up as she watched the characters enter the stage to pay their respects. As soon as they straightened their eyes after bowing their backs, the downstage was immediately swarmed by women.
"Aric!"
"You're so handsome, Aric!"
"I like you, Aric!"
Callista was disoriented as many people rushed at her. Her wheelchair kept getting pushed backward. Her breath caught when the wheelchair rolled sideways as it collided violently with a strange woman.
Grep!
"We have to go backward."
Callista looked at the two Kenward bodyguards behind her. They had saved her. If the wheelchair had fallen, her body would have become the foothold of the screaming women.
Callista let out a long breath. The play had just started but she had already been pushed to the back row. She had not been able to see her friends properly. She cursed inwardly at Aric's fanatical fans, no, more like Aric and Chennie's fanatical fans.
Callista shook her head at the sight of them scrambling to get to the front. The shouts from them were unmistakable. It was loud and booming. Well, it was only natural since her best friends were so popular.
Callista bowed her head. She looked at the best dress she was wearing at the moment. She had gone to a lot of trouble to choose this dress from the many dresses available. She tried not to look one-sided when she met her friends later. Of course, they would look beautiful with costumes and makeup that maximized their beautiful faces.
"It was a waste," Callista muttered. She straightened her gaze to the front. She could only see the backs of so many people.
"I wish I could see them for just a moment. I'd be grateful if that happened."
The two big men looked at each other. The additional task described by the boss earlier was to please his lover. Of course, that was not a difficult thing.
"If I can help you, would you allow me to do so?"
"Of course!" replied Callista loudly.
"Even if it's in a slightly extreme way?"
Callista nodded her head. She would do anything to see her friends for even a moment. This performance was very important to them.
The two bodyguards looked back at each other and nodded simultaneously. One of the bodyguards tried to keep the people around them away. Meanwhile, the other bodyguard was getting ready with his horses.
Callista was startled when suddenly her wheelchair shook. With a single jerk, the wheelchair she was riding in was lifted. Callista chuckled as she understood what Kenward's bodyguard meant. The burly man lifted her and her wheelchair as if he was lifting a barbell.
"Chennie! Aric! Rheana! Brian! Cheer up!" Callista shouted out loud.
The four people who felt their names being called, then looked straight ahead. Due to the height of Kenward's bodyguards that exceeded the height of ordinary men, Chennie and Aric could easily find the whereabouts of the source of the voice that they recognized.
Not only Chennie and Aric were surprised, but Rheana and Brian who were downstage were equally surprised. How could they not be surprised? The girl they were so worried about appeared suddenly in an unusual way. Someone lifted Callista and the wheelchair she was in.
Their hearts seemed to stop beating when Callista was suddenly lowered without a signal.
"I'm okay!"
Callista's scream, which could still be heard by them, allowed them to breathe a sigh of relief. Callista, who had never shouted out loud, now did so to encourage them. The burden in their hearts from worrying for Callista had now completely disappeared. They seemed to have gotten a new intake of an uplifting pill.
Callista turned to look at Kenward's bodyguard. "You're so strong!" praised Callista as she gave both thumbs up. Thanks to Kenward's two bodyguards, her heart now felt relieved and happiness overflowed in her heart. Chennie and Aric, who took the stage, looked very beautiful. No wonder the fans couldn't stop screaming.
"Thank you."
The two bodyguards gasped at the two words they hadn't heard in a long time. Of course, they had never heard those two words come from the boss's lips, but they could hear them from the boss's girlfriend. What a good thing!
"Now, let's find a quiet place. I don't want to almost fall again because of those strangers."
Callista cast her eyes around. The more the night went on, the more crowded the festival became. Not only millennials came, but also politicians and businessmen who entered the festival to come in one place. A special room for them was set up grandly in the center of the festival grounds.
Callista was made to feel claustrophobic as she was repeatedly pushed by people who accidentally nudged her wheelchair. It was so suffocating! She wanted to get out of that crowd immediately! She wanted to breathe in the night air like she did when she first set foot in the festival!
With a very long struggle for Callista and Kenward's two bodyguards, they were finally able to get out of the crowd quickly. Of course, it was mostly due to the direction of Callista who was very familiar with the structure of the school grounds.
"I can finally breathe properly," Callista murmured. She closed her eyelids to savor this tickling sensation. The breeze felt refreshing. All the beads of sweat she had gotten from the jostling earlier, instantly dried up thanks to the night breeze.
One of Callista's eyebrows shot up. She felt something was off.
After a few seconds of daydreaming, Callista snapped her fingers in the air. "I didn't know this gate would be used as a back door." Callista tapped her forehead. How stupid of her not to remember correctly the shape of the gate used as the front door earlier.
"I'm a student who both understands and doesn't understand this school," Callista muttered with her head resting on the wheelchair.
"Let's just go back. Kenward must be looking for me."
Callista and her two bodyguards were about to turn around. The sudden deft movement left Callista gaping wide-eyed. The bottle that flew towards her was dodged by a hair's breadth. Her eyes closed as the loud sound of shattering glass filled her ears.
