A sour expression graced the face of the girl who had just woken up. Her left palm was still attached to an IV drip, allowing her to only move her right hand with normal strength.
But of course, her efforts were fruitless. The sturdy arm was too heavy for one hand.
"Kenward, wake up!"
Kenward wriggled in his sleep. A gust of breath brushed his neck. I don't know how many times he was made to shudder in amusement.
"Don't pretend to be asleep, I know that you just laid down on the bed," Callista scolded. She didn't say that without proof, the laptop Kenward was working on was still on a few minutes ago. It was visible in her eyes.
Ignoring Callista's words, Kenward tightened his grip on Callista's waist. He had been very patient in not lying down and rushing to hug this petite body because of the work he had to complete. And she was telling him to let go immediately?
"Kenward, it's been fifteen minutes. My back feels stiff. Do you want to put me in and out of the hospital again?"
Callista's words this time managed to shake Kenward's resolve. This could be seen by the loosening of Kenward's grip on her waist. Taking the opportunity, Callista immediately sat down.
Her gaze moved to Kenward who had opened his eyes. Those eyes looked a little tired.
"If you don't have time to accompany me to the festival, you don't have to force it. I can go with some of your bodyguards."
Callista's hand reached out to grab her cell phone which had a full battery. As soon as she turned on the flat object, missed call notifications rushed to her. A faint smile graced her lips at the number of missed calls from each of her friends' phone numbers.
"I'll meet up with them later during the festival. It seems like they're worried about me suddenly not giving them any news at all," Callista murmured.
"Who?"
Callista looked at Kenward who was returning his usual sharp gaze. She could not answer with ambiguous words like those of her friends. Kenward must have interpreted that Aric.
"Chennie and Rheana called me when my cell phone ran out of battery," Callista explained, which was true. It was the calls from Chennie and Rheana that dominated the most. She just summarized the long information. It's not wrong, is it?
Kenward nodded in understanding. Callista who saw that immediately turned her face the other way and let out a sigh of relief. However, the relief was short-lived, as her eyes widened at the sight of the clock on her cell phone showing 18:30.
Callista rubbed her face roughly. No wonder she felt the sunlight was no longer coming through the gap in the curtains. It was already night! Moreover, they hadn't prepared anything yet and the distance between Kenward's mansion and the school was quite far. And to top it all off, she didn't know what queue her class was in for the play! Bad!
Callista pulled Kenward's arm. "Wake up Kenward! We're already very late for the festival. Hurry up!"
"Kenward!" snapped Callista unintentionally. Spontaneously she covered her mouth with both palms. What did she do just now? Yelling at a psychopath? Was Kenward going to scold her again? She should be able to control her emotions better.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"C-come in!" said Callista, trying to change the subject from her earlier mistake. Her gaze turned to the man next to her who was sitting up. Although he had only laid down for a short while, Kenward's hair was already messed up by the pillow.
The maids came in one by one to put down the many paper bags they had brought. After the maids finished their task, they bowed their backs in unison and closed the door again.
Callista was left gaping. What was inside those twenty or so jumbo-sized paper bags? Who ordered them? Oh, she retracted that question. Of course, the person who bought them was the owner of the room. And it was Kenward.
"What did you buy?"
Kenward rose to his feet and walked around the bed. He gently lifted Callista's body and placed her in the wheelchair. He pushed it to bring Callista closer to where the paper bags were.
"They are all yours."
Callista looked at Kenward with a questioning gaze. Not wanting to linger with the curious feeling that haunted her mind, Callista immediately grabbed one of the paper bags and took out what was inside.
Dress?
Callista looked at Kenward with strong suspicion. "Don't tell me all these paper bags contain clothes for me?"
Kenward nodded his head. "Of course. Only three outfits you chose and that's not enough. I bought everything that caught your eye."
Callista opened another paper bag until four of them had been made empty by Callista. She looked intently at the clothes piled up on her lap. These clothes were not all to her taste, she had only glanced at them at the mall earlier.
"Kenward, you're so wasteful!"
