Chapter 131 His Revenge
Chapter 131 His Revenge
Luca
The corners of my lips twisted when the spy I put in Marceau's villa informed me that Mila and Levi had decided on the engagement party date.
"If you want, sir… we could…" he stammered.
"No!" I cut him off and hung up.
I knew exactly what he was about to suggest. Killing Levi.
That would be easy. If I wanted to do that, I would have done it the moment I met him.
But no…
She was thinking that hiring security guards from the dark web would protect her. Let her think that.
I swallowed the contents of my glass and said to my brothers in a casual tone, "You are about to get an engagement invitation."
They exchanged glances. They didn't need to ask what I was saying, they already understood.
Marco coughed, then said, "Should we stop it?"
I placed my glass on the table and simply said, "No need."
I could see the curiosity on their faces.
Ricardo cleared his throat as he got on his feet and filled my glass. "You know we can force her to come home."
"Why?" I asked calmly.
He sniffed, "Brother? Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Can you just share with us what you're thinking? Because this whole calmness and silence is terrifying us."
The corners of my lips twisted as I pressed send on a message for her.
I got on my feet. "I'm thinking of attending the engagement and congratulating them to show my good intentions."
For the next few days, Mila's face chased me like a fucking nightmare. Her laughter when she tied me up to the bed and left me hanging there like a fool echoed in my head.
But this time, I'll show her the true face of Il Don that she had never encountered.
I got out of the black car I parked beside the front gate of Marceau's Villa. My shoes echoed on the asphalted ground as I went past the gate with other guests.
"Your invitation, please, sir?" a security guard asked with a small smile.
I fixed my black hat and pulled the small card out of my jacket pocket.
One glance at the card and the guard smiled, "Welcome, sir. And enjoy the party."
I fixed my sunglasses and headed to the last row of chairs in the garden and sat.
An old lady sat next to me with her old man.
"Oh honey, look," she said. "Maybe this is one of the bride's relatives?"
They looked at me with a smile, but I ignored them.
"It seems he's one of her relatives, I had never seen him in Marceau's house before," she whispered, but I could hear her loud voice.
"Darling, leave the man alone," her husband said. "It's none of our business."
"I'm just curious why no one from the bride's family is here?" she insisted.
Then she leaned forward and stared at my face. "Are you dumped by the bride? Is that why you're here?"
A small smile hovered over my lips. I looked at her and lowered my sunglasses a little, locking eyes with her. She was speaking part of the truth, though.
"Oh, you're too handsome, young man," she whispered. "I assure you she will regret leaving you."
I couldn't hold back my laughter.
She looked at her husband, then back to me. "If you came sooner, when I was prettier, I would have run with you."
I was about to say something when her presence cut through my senses.
She was so beautiful, walking side by side with Levi. Her smile shone through the crowd. My Angelo walked to her side like a small man.
If you see her now, like a fairytale princess, you would never say she was the same girl who seduced, manipulated and humiliated me days ago.
The way she smiled at Levi felt like a dagger in my chest. An ugly feeling I could not shake.
Levi caressed her cheek so gently, they were like lovebirds while Angelo ran around them.
Levi introduced her to some groups of people.
They seemed too happy, even though I could notice how, from time to time, she scanned the place with her eyes, and held Angelo close all the time.
For the first time, I didn't hold back my true bitterness.
I wasn't angry.
My heart was genuinely wounded.
I actually loved this girl, and I actually pushed her away in every possible way.
Now, she looked happy, truly happy. Happier than she had ever looked beside me.
From time to time I noticed how Levi placed his hand protectively on her small belly, which reminded me why I was here.
"They seem to be happy," the old woman said. "But I don't think they're truly in love."
Across the city, fireworks suddenly exploded into the night sky above the engagement venue.
Mila's name shone in the sky, followed by one word: Il Cattivo.
Mila's face paled like a ghost.
The guests applauded. They thought the show had started.
I smiled.
Because it had.
Just not the one they were expecting.
"Begin," I mumbled.
I took off my sunglasses, and among all the faces she found mine and her eyes widened.
The corner of my lips twisted, and I flicked my fingers.
Then another explosion echoed, but this time it wasn't followed by happy applause. Instead, there were screams, smoke, and fire.
I stood there, crossing my legs and watching the chaos.
