Chapter 117 Locking Me Up

Chapter 117 Locking Me Up
I paced across the dark wooden floor, the chandelier lights too dim against the massive bedroom.

I had been locked in this room for five hours. No water. No food. Nothing.

Was that their punishment?

I searched every corner of the room, trying to find a way out, but found nothing. Even the bathroom window was locked.

I banged both hands against the door. “Open this door!” I screamed loudly. “Get me out of here, now!”

But all the response I got was silence.

There were indeed sounds outside the room. I had been hearing them the whole time, but no one spoke to me. As if I was a ghost. Mute.

‘Damn it, Mila. You did this to yourself,’ I cursed. ‘I put myself under their mercy.’

I looked through the curtains to the outside, spotting the horse stables and the massive green yard. The place was totally strange to me.

What was this villa?

It seemed as if someone was already living here.

I walked back slowly to the massive bed and sat on its edge. The mattress sank softly beneath my weight as the dark silk sheets brushed against my bare legs.

“What the heck are they planning to do, locking me up here like this?”

My stomach growled. I was so hungry. I hadn’t eaten since yesterday at the restaurant.

I placed my hand on my stomach. “Are you okay, little buddy over there?” I whispered. “Sorry, bébé. Mommy got you hungry.”

I was rubbing the small curve of my belly when the door swung open.

A woman in a maid uniform walked in, pushing a tray before her.

The smell of food struck my nose before I even saw it, and my stomach growled harder.

“Hello, ma’am,” the woman said with a wide smile on her face. “Please enjoy your meal.”

I swallowed my saliva. My stomach went crazy as it ached from hunger. But I acted indifferent. “Who sent this?” I asked.

“The Master, ma’am,” she replied with the same polite smile. “He ordered us to prepare everything he thinks are your favorite dishes and safe for a pregnant woman.”

She started uncovering the dishes, and the smell became even stronger. I couldn’t resist and started eating.

“Do you want me to put them on the coffee table, ma’am?” she asked.

“Emmmm.” I took my first bite with a loud hum. “Yes, please,” I replied, already holding the dish of Cannelloni with spinach and Italian cheese while heading to the sofa.

The maid started placing the dishes over the coffee table until there was barely enough space for the rest.

Then she stood and said, “The Master asked me to prepare the shower for you.” Then she grabbed a small shopping bag from under the tray and added, “He bought you these clothes.”

I looked at her. I couldn’t help but ask, “Who’s the Master you’re referring to? Luca?”

She smiled. “Yes, ma’am.”

Then she headed to the bathroom.

God. Hunger was such an ugly thing. Thank God for food.

The maid smiled and stood next to the door. “Ma’am, the shower is ready. I’ll be here if you need anything.”

Once I entered the shower, I was surprised to see the same shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, hair lotion, and moisturizer I used.

“How thoughtful.” I raised my eyebrows.

Even my Victoria’s Secret body mist was there.

I took off the nurse uniform and stood under the warm water. I instantly felt relaxed. Clean.

God, I had stayed in those clothes for an entire day.

Once I was done, I wrapped a towel over my body and got back to the room, the maid was still standing next to the door.

I stood before the mirror and started combing my hair while using the hair dryer. I looked at the maid’s reflection in the mirror, and she smiled.

“You can go,” I said with a small smile. “If I need something, I’ll call for you.”

“Okay, ma’am,” she said. “The Masters are waiting for you in the hall. Once you finish, just hit the bell beside your bed.”

My eyes drifted to the bell. A bell. Did that mean they planned to keep me here for long? I already missed my Gelo. And I had a meeting soon with the Malakhovs. They were finally supposed to meet Serafina.

The maid left the room and closed the door behind her.

One minute.

Two passed.

Three.

She didn’t lock the door.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror and frowned, turnning off the hair dryer and walked to the door. I reached for the doorknob, turned it, and the door unlocked.

My eye brows raised.

She left the door open.

I opened it slightly and peeked outside. No one was around.

No maids. No guards. No staff. No one.

‘Did she left the door open in purpose?’ I frowned. But I pushed the thought away.

With my bare feet, I tiptoed until I reached the stairs. God. I was thrilled. Maybe I could find a way out.

Just before I went down, I heard their voices. My foster brothers, in one of the nearby rooms. I ignored them at first. This was a golden opportunity. But their loud voices, as if they were fighting, caught my attention.

I followed the sound, looking around carefully until I reached the room.

The room door was open, so I stood against the wall next to it.

And then, I heard them.

Angelo.

My heart skipped a beat.

They were talking about my son. My everything in the world. And what they were saying made my blood boil in my veins as cold sweat ran along my back.
