Chapter 115 Kidnapping Her
Chapter 115 Kidnapping Her
Eyes drifted toward me the moment I entered the clinic.
I pulled my hair over both sides of my face and headed toward the receptionist. The second she noticed the nurse uniform, she waved her hand dismissively. “We don’t have any open jobs right now.”
I shook my head quickly. “No, no,” I stammered. “I need to see the doctor. I’m a patient.”
“Do you have an appointment for today?” she asked, sizing me up and down.
“No,” I admitted.
She shocked me when she said, “Sorry, ma’am. Without an appointment, the doctor can’t see you.”
God! How did I forget about that?
I couldn't not just go back home after all this just like that!
“Please,” I said. “I really need to see him. Can’t you register me now?”
She gave me an apologetic smile and shook her head. “This is Professor Howard Kane. He’s the best in the country. You need to make a reservation at least a month in advance.”
I bit down on my lower lip. This had been a bad idea from the start.
I sighed and was about to leave, but... decided to try one last time. Leaning closer to the counter, I whispered, “Can’t you check if there’s a patient who didn’t show up so I can take their place? Please?”
“Sorry. Things don’t work that way here,” she replied, her voice pitched up slightly, clearly starting to lose patience.
“What’s going on here?” a male voice asked.
I turned and saw a tall middle-aged man wearing thin glasses.
The receptionist immediately straightened her posture. “Oh, Professor!” she said quickly. “Nothing. I was just telling this girl she needs an appointment first.”
“Print this file and bring it to my office,” he said before turning to leave. But after one glance at me, he suddenly stopped.
He narrowed his eyes slightly. “Have we met before, Miss?” he asked.
I smiled politely. “No… I don’t believe we have.”
He turned to the receptionist. “Have you filled in her information?”
She nodded and handed him the small form every patient filled out upon entering.
“Mila Russetti,” he murmured under his breath, then looked me up and down again.
“Alright, Miss Mila,” he said calmly. “Follow me. I’ll see you now.”
The receptionist frowned slightly. This behavior was clearly unusual.
Once he shut the office door behind us, he smiled gently. “Please, make yourself comfortable, Miss Mila.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “It seems you know my family.”
He laughed softly, though I didn’t see anything funny.
“Not really,” he replied. “But I’ve heard of them.”
I wondered if he knew my parents. Or if one of them had once been his patient. Because the look on his face was almost as if he had found some hidden treasure.
Once I lay down on the couch, he spoke again. “Let’s start with the uniform you’re wearing.” His expression shifted completely professional as he wrote something in his notebook. “I believe you are not actually a nurse.”
“Umm… it’s a long story,” I mumbled.
“Yes, I imagine it is. And I’d like to hear it,” he said encouragingly.
I didn’t know where to begin. My head was drowning in chaos. As well as my heart did.
He didn’t push me. He simply kept looking at me with a calm, encouraging smile.
“I prefer to start from the beginning,” I finally said.
He nodded once. “Then start.”
At first, my words were messy. Unclear. I couldn’t even tell if he understood me. But the look on his face told me he did.
I had no idea how long I talked for. He never interrupted me. He only listened and occasionally took notes.
Tears fell from my eyes. I cried. The pain rose inside me like a storm… yet somehow, my chest slowly started feeling lighter. The pain was still there, but it didn’t crush me as heavily anymore.
I told him every feeling I had for Luca exactly as it was. Honest. Raw. Ugly.
He simply handed me a tissue, then returned to reading something on his laptop.
When I finally opened my eyes again, he was focused on the screen as if solving a complicated puzzle.
The moment he noticed me sitting up, he adjusted his glasses and smiled. “May I ask why you felt the urge to sneak out of the mansion and come at this particular time?”
I shrugged. “This was the only time I could come. I knew they wouldn’t let me leave without guards.”
“You said they don’t really have authority over you any more,” he pointed out.
“Yeah, but that won’t stop them from acting like they do,” I explained quietly. “And I don’t want anyone to know about this.”
“I see.” He wrote something else in his notebook.
“I have another clinic,” he said after a moment, something strange flickering in his eyes. “A highly confidential one. Only for certain people—politicians, celebrities, tycoons, supreme generals… and high-ranking mafia men.”
My heart pounded at the last words.
He handed me a card. “From now on, visit me there.”
I looked into his eyes, trying to read him. But there was nothing; just his gentle smile.
I stood outside on the street waiting for a taxi, the professor’s words replaying in my head.
“I advise you to focus on your life with Levi. He’s the better choice and will help you heal faster. No matter what happens… never be with Luca.”
I flipped the card between my fingers thoughtfully.
I raised my hand to stop an approaching taxi, but suddenly a strong arm wrapped around my waist while men dressed in black shoved me into a black car.
I struggled against them. “Let go of me!” I snapped, trying to reach my gun.
But the moment they pressed a cloth over my nose, darkness swallowed me whole within seconds.
