Chapter 132 Luca's Gift

Chapter 132 Luca's Gift
Mila

I saw him and froze.

He was here.

Luca.

The moment I saw the title Il Cativo on the sky I realized he already had his move.

He went through my high security team and ...

The look in his eyes terrified me to the core.

Then, one single move of his fingers and things exploded.

Screams and cries echoed in the place, while a huge smoke cloud rose to the sky.

"Two cars exploded," someone shouted.

"Look! There's another explosion on the upper floor," I heard another one shout.

That was my room.

Everything I had brought with me...
Every memory...
Everything burned with it.

People started crowding on the exit gate of the front yard.

"Levi!" I shouted, holding Angelo's hand into mine tightly.

Levi was nowhere to be seen.

I started walking toward the exit. It seemed he went to save his mother.

Just as I tried to walk forward, another explosion shook the ground, panic swallowed the garden.

People screamed more loudly, chairs overturned, and guests ran in every direction like if it was the doomsday.

"Levi!" I called again.

Suddenly, someone grabbed my wrist, trying to shield me.

Then, I saw them, four men dressed entirely in black appeared out of nowhere.

They didn't shout. They didn't hesitate.

One stepped directly in front of me, another scooped Angelo.

"Miss," one of them said. "You have to leave now, the whole house will be leveled to the ground within minutes.

I was confused.

The explosions didn't stop. This time in the master room.

"Where's Levi?" I shouted over the loud voice. "I'm not leaving wothout him."

"Mr. Marcaeu already taken," the man said urgently.

So... these men from Levi's side? He never told me about them.

Smoke rolled through the villa grounds, swallowing the elegant garden that, only minutes ago, had been filled with decorations, laughter and music.

Now there were only screams, fire, smoke, explosions, and broken glass.

Luca was no where to be scene. As if I was imagining his presence earlier.

I tightened my grip around Angelo's hand as the masked men surrounded us from every direction.

"Keep moving," one of them shouted, his deep voice calm despite the chaos.

Another explosion thundered behind us. The force of it made me stumble. I placed my hand protectivly on my belly.

Before I could lose my balance, one of the men caught my elbow and steadied me without a single unnecessary word.

"Mommy..." Angelo whispered, clutching my hand tighter.

"It's okay, baby," I lied, pulling him closer against my side. "Don't look back."

The masked men moved with frightening precision.

Two walked ahead, scanning every corner. Two stayed beside us.

The last two guarded our backs, their rifles never lowering for a second.

Who were they? It was impossible they were Levi's guards.

They weren't the retired soldiers Jamal had hired for me either.

So... who sent them?

The questions pounded inside my head, but survival came first.

We hurried across the smoke-covered driveway.

Bodies of the armed men I hired lay scattered across the ground. Some groaned in pain, while others didn't move at all.

I didn't know what was really going on right now. And I didn't dare stop to find out.

A sleek black SUV waited near the front gate, its engine already running.

One of the masked men opened the rear door.
"Get in."

I didn't move this time.

My heart hammered inside my chest.

"Who sent you?" I demanded.

Silence.

The man simply looked at me through his black mask. "We don't have time, ma'am."

Another burst of explosion echoed from behind us.
One of the guards immediately turned and sheilded us before speaking into the earpiece hidden beneath his mask. "Target secured."

Target?

Were they talking about me? I looked at Angelo.

His frightened little fingers were wrapped tightly around mine.

I couldn't risk his life now because of my suspicion.

I was without guards. Mine were already injured or dead.

Taking a shaky breath, I climbed into the SUV and pulled Angelo onto my lap.
I placed my hand on the gun I hid on my thigh under my dress.

The masked men shut the door behind us.
The moment the vehicle sped away, I glanced through the rear window.

Flames continued rising into the night sky.
disappeared behind a wall of smoke.

And for the first time since I escaped Luca...
I had the terrifying feeling that I wasn't escaping anymore.

My phone buzzed.

\[Happy engagment. I hope you liked my present. I know you love shining things. So I made sure your party can't be more shining. Luca.\]

I clenched my fists.

\[I forgot to tell you. I borrowed your fiance for a while. I just hope you don't mind.\]

What?

Shit!!

Did he really... kidnapped Levi?
