Chapter 118 I Won't Touch You, Kitten
“When would you announce Angelo as your heir?”
The question hit me like a stroke. My blood ran cold.
“Soon,” Luca’s voice came cold and determined. “I need him to know that I’m his father as soon as possible. I can’t just walk to him and say, ‘Hi Angelo, I’m your father.’”
“The kid is too smart,” Marco said. “I think… it wouldn’t be so difficult to make him understand.”
The next sentence pushed the tension even higher. “I don’t know how you both expect a young boy to understand. He will eventually find out the way he came into this world, and he would hate you, brother,” Ricardo said.
Silence stretched.
I clenched my fists. So that was what they were planning for my son. Over my dead body.
Time was running out. I had to marry Levi as soon as possible and move to Germany.
I could not let him introduce Gelo as his heir. I could not let my son live the life I despised.
I decided to get back to the room and play along with them, pretending I didn’t hear anything.
The moment I was about to turn around, the same maid appeared from nowhere and said, “Ma’am?” making me jump in my place and accidentally hit the tray in her hand, which fell and crashed onto the floor with a loud noise.
“Who’s there?” Luca snapped.
I froze, and so did the maid.
“I’ll count to three. If you don’t show yourself, I’ll shoot,” Marco said.
I was fully sure all guns were aimed at the door now. Listening to the Lords’ conversation behind closed doors meant one thing. A traitor would die immediately.
“Three,” Ricardo counted. “Two…”
I peeked inside with a small smile, waving my hand. “Hi… it’s me.”
The moment they lowered their guns, I took a step inside. “God. You girl will get yourself killed someday,” Ricardo scolded.
The maid followed behind me, her head lowered.
It wasn’t just my foster brothers there. Enforcer Silas, the Consigliere, and other men I had never seen before were also inside.
All of them fixed their gazes on me, which made me blush, remembering I was barefoot and wearing nothing but a towel with my wet hair dripping over my shoulders.
I didn’t know why, but my eyes found Luca’s immediately.
The way he looked at me from the couch he was sitting on made me take a step back.
“Ow…” one of the men said, looking at me in a dirty way while licking his lips. “You entertain yourselves here.”
Then he got to his feet. “Come, beauty. I’ll make you enjoy yourself too.”
The moment he took a step toward me, his head snapped back and blood splashed all over the white towel I was wearing.
I screamed in shock, stumbling backward.
The maid fainted on the floor.
“Throw that dog out,” Luca barked at his men, kicking the dead body with his boot before putting his gun back into his waistband. “I need to deal with a small matter, then we’ll continue our discussion afterward.”
I was still frozen, staring at the lifeless eyes of the man and the hole in his head.
Luca grabbed my hand and dragged me behind him back to the room I was staying in.
He guided me to the bathroom instantly.
“At this rate, you’ll make me kill all my men,” he hissed under his breath.
I spoke for the first time since the shot. “You… just shot him. You didn’t even think?” I blinked.
A mischievous smile curled his lips as his dark gaze met mine. “He deserved his fate. He looked at you dirty. No one looks at Il Cattivo’s woman that way.”
He unwrapped my towel.
“But… I’m not your woman,” I said weakly, feeling his eyes on my bare body.
He stood there, just looking at me. “Perfect.” He still didn’t touch me. “So perfect.”
Then he guided me toward the shower.
“I can do that myself,” I said in a husky voice.
“I know,” he replied, turning on the faucet and starting to wash my body.
“I’m not going to touch you, Mila,” he said, making my breath hitch. His hands roamed dangerously close to my private areas, but he never actually touched.
I thought it was only a matter of time before he would do something. But he didn’t.
He turned the faucet off.
I looked into his eyes. They were dangerous, mysterious, and… tempting.
He leaned in. I closed my eyes, thinking he would kiss me. After everything that had happened lately, I was craving his touch. I wanted to feel like I was his and forget the world for a brief moment.
“What are you waiting for, kitten?” he whispered. “I’m done here. Aren’t you going to get out? Or are you waiting for something else?”
My eyes snapped open. My cheeks reddened.
Bastard.
He knew exactly what he was doing.
“You…” I hissed.
I got out of the shower and grabbed a new towel.
He just leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest, not caring to hide the hard erection beneath his trousers, while a smug smirk rested on his face.
I wrapped the towel around my body and he… just watched.
I heard his footsteps following behind me.
He grabbed my arm and turned me around in one swift move until I met his eyes.
He looked straight into my eyes and said, “We can do it, Mila. I know you want me the same way I want you.” He touched my lower lip with his thumb. “But I can’t be with a woman already sleeping with another man.”
“So,” he added, “think about it, kitten. And keep this in mind… you’re staying here for a long, very long time.”
