Chapter 36

Abby’s POV:

Abby grabbed her bag; she stuffed the things she needed and had planned to bring when she set out to find her father. She had been spying on Ryan for a few months and figured out her father was this Bobby DeLuca, but she’d never met him. Hacking into Ryan’s phone she was able to record his conversations and the man seemed like he was dying to bring her home, that he loved her and wanted her home. She longed to have that relationship, yes Ryan was good to her, but she never felt the fatherly connection to him.

Opening her door, she listened Ryan was busy with his guest, she knew Beth wasn’t his and was Bobby’s mate, but she didn’t want to get involved in that. She crept past their door and downstairs into Ryan’s office. Grabbing her phone, she looked to see if Ryan messed with it, but it was still locked and hadn’t been messed with it.

Going out the backdoor she knew she had a chance to getting off the property, she knew the paths of the patrols, so she had to be careful. She grabbed her motorized scooter and headed into the woods. She was hoping not to get caught.

Once she was off the property, she turned on the scooter and headed towards the bus station she figured Bobby was probably around in the area. She wasn’t sure if he chose a high-end hotel or a shaggy one.

Once she was at the bus station, she bought her ticket with cash in hopes it wouldn’t flag her and she would be safe. She sat down to wait for her ticket, she turned her headphones on and watched the time on her phone.

A tap on her shoulder got her attention, her face went white, she pulled her headphones off. “How did you find me?” she asked.

“You think I wouldn’t put a tracker on your phone?” Ryan snapped. “Why did you run away?”

“Because of you,” she said standing up.

“Why because I took your phone?” he said crossing his arms.

“Not just that, everything, you’ve been lying to me,” she growled taking a step back.

“Don’t even think about it Abby, you’re already in enough trouble. You won’t be able to get far if you try and run from me,” he said angrily. “Let’s just go home and talk this out, I promise there isn’t going to be any more punishment.”

“Why didn’t you tell me Bobby DeLuca was my father,” she growled throwing her scooter at him. He wasn’t prepared for that, he stumbled back, and she darted into the crowd, Ryan lost track of her.

She ran down to the subway, she knew getting on the train wasn’t wise, but she needed to get away from Ryan and figure out her next plan, she tossed her phone in the trash that was her best idea since he could track her that way.

Once she was on the train and it was moving, she sat down. She was still shaking, she couldn’t believe she was able to get away from him, she wasn’t sure how far she would get but she at least was away from him now.

Abby waited until the train stopped a few times before she got off, she was in the dead of the city, but she knew where she was. She had no phone to call anyone, but she had no choice now. She had her bag of stuff and money.

Wondering around the streets the sun was coming up, Abby was tired, but she didn’t want to take a chance and check-in anywhere. She was too young, and they would probably call the police anyway.

“Abby?” an unfamiliar voice called.

She was afraid to turn to the voice, but she did anyway, a man she didn’t know but he smiled big when he saw her. Another man from the passenger side came out of the SUV.

“Hi,” she whispered, but he heard it.

He took a few steps towards her; he didn’t want to scare her. “Where’s Ryan?” he said looking around. “Does he know where you are?” he said in a thick Italian accent.

She backed away. “So, you’re Ryan’s men,” she said with a frown.

“No, no sweetheart, I’ve been looking for you for over a month,” he said stopping.

“Lui è tuo padre, Bobby DeLuca,” (he’s your father, Bobby DeLuca) Mico spoke coming around and joining Bobby.

“How do I know this isn’t one of Ryan’s tricks?” she said taking another step back. “I know how these Mafia games work,” she said looking behind her to see if there were any cars behind her half expecting Ryan to be waiting.

“I promise you, baby girl I am not with Ryan, the bastard has my mate Beth, your grandfather and I are planning to destroy him.”

“Oh, isn’t that cute,” Ryan said coming out of the alleyway. Him and thirteen others. “You see Abby that bastard is your father, he almost got you,” he said grabbing her and putting a gun to her head. “So, Bobby how about I kill your daughter now, that way she’s out of the way,” he snapped.

“You kill my daughter; I will rip you to pieces right here right now,” he said pulling out his gun and pointing it at Ryan. “You see Nikolai sent me a care package, containing lots of silver lots of punch.

“Ryan, what’s happening?” Abby whimpered.

“You ran away twice,” he whispered. “Don’t worry sweetie I promise you’re my daughter and I’m not going to harm you, but I want to see what your daddy is willing to do.” Ryan pushed Abby behind him. “Get in the car Abby this time I’m not playing he growled.

Abby looked back at Bobby the sadness in his face turned to anger when his eyes left hers. Two of Ryan’s warriors force Abby into the waiting SUV which drove away before anything could happen.

Abby watched as they got smaller until they turned the corner.

“What is he going to do to him?” she asked the driver.

“Probably nothing,” the warrior said. “You are in deep shit when you get home though, Ryan is on a warpath, and you just set him off even more. He has to keep you from getting caught in this.”

“I know I’m in deep shit, I guess I should have trusted my father,” she said looking out the window.

“You should have just listened to Ryan,” he said glancing at her in the rearview mirror. “Now he’s going to keep you under guard. He’s already assigned me to you.”

“Great so you’re going to be with me everywhere I go?” she said looking at him,

“Yeah, I might even have to watch you shower,” he said with a smile.

“Gross, I will stab you if you are in the bathroom while I shower.”

“I’m joking Abby relax, but I have to be with you when you are out,” he said pulling into the villa. “There is a war coming and Ryan is worried that they are going to target you he wants to move you to another location.”

“Wait, he wants to move me?” Abby said looking at him. “What about my mom?”

“He’s leaving her in the city, she isn’t in danger you are. The Russian and Italians are threatening to raid the villa.”

“Cool!” she said smiling. “I want to see this go down.”

“Abby this isn’t a game,” Ryan said opening the door. “I am upset you almost got hurt,” he said helping her out of the car. “Please don’t run off like that, what you did was dangerous and pretty damn stupid.”

“What almost going to my father, was dangerous?” she said rolling her eyes. “Where are you going to take me if it’s not safe here?” she said looking at him.

“You and Beth are going to have to come with me to the club and my business meetings, tonight we have a party to go to. Marcos and Daniel will be your protection for the night, Beth is going to have Seth and Johnny.”

“I don’t want to go to a party, I hate Mafia parts. Old men hitting on me, it’s gross,” she said crossing her arms.

“Well, you should have thought about that before you ran away. Besides, I cannot trust you won’t run away again, and I need to do this. I need to have back-up since your father has decided he wants to bring the international Mafia to my doorstep.”

“So, turn Beth over and put a stop to this shit.”

He smacked her, “what the fuck did I tell you about your language Abby,” he growled. “Just because you are a wolf doesn’t mean you get to disrespected me.”

“Sorry Ryan,” she said with her head down. “I’m just saying let her go, maybe it will calm the waters down and you don’t have to stress so much.”

“She’s not the only thing he wants,” Ryan said rubbing the back of his neck.

“What else does he want?”

“You, he fucking wants you and I don’t want to lose you. I have raised you since you were born and I don’t want to be abandoned just because he wants to be a father to you now,” he said punching a wall. “I don’t want to fucking lose you too.”

“So, you can still see me, and stuff but I am his daughter and I want to know my father.”

“I said no,” he growled. “Go to your room I will deal with this war and kill him that way you don’t have to worry about him abandoning you again,” he said turning his back to her again.

Abby wasn’t sure what Ryan was spun up about, she walked up the stairs, before she went to her room, she knocked on Ryan’s door.

“Hi,” she said when Beth opened the door. “You’re Beth I’m assuming.”

“Yes.” She half-smiled. “Abby, right?”

“Yeah, mind if I come in?”

“Sure,” she said moving out of the way so Abby could come inside.

“Ryan said we have a party we have to go to tonight, we’re going to have security and stuff,” Abby said before she turned and looked at her. “How long have you known my dad?”

“Who Ryan or Bobby?”

“Bobby, Ryan isn’t my dad,” she said leaning against the wall.

“A week or so,” Beth said with a sad face. “Bobby’s my mate, but Ryan forced me to become his,” she said touching the still sore mark.

“Why do you give in to him?” she said looking away from her. “Shouldn’t you wait for my dad?”

“Ryan will rape me,” Beth said with tears forming in her eyes. “He thinks he could produce a child, but in reality, it doesn’t happen like that, but he doesn’t care. He wants to kill Bobby and he doesn’t care that it will kill me in the process.”

“We need to get out of here,” Abby said looking at the door opening Ryan wasn’t listening. “I’ve tried escaping and I saw my dad today, but I didn’t know he was truly him because Ryan has men all over the city,” she said with a sad face. “I wish I would have trusted him and his word.”

“You saw Bobby?” she said sounding happy.

“Yes, I was afraid and then Ryan and his goons somehow found me, and here I am back here again,” she said sighing.

“I got away too, but he found me because of the German Mafia,” Beth said. “Ryan has this city on lockdown.”

“Yes, I do,” Ryan said coming into the room, “ladies please get ready for the party tonight. I know neither one of you want to go but we need to make waves, I want everyone to see that we are a family.”

“Why does it matter?” Abby growled. “You already know we know the truth and we’re not going to act the same, at least I’m not.”

Ryan backhanded her again. “I said get ready for the fucking party Abby, I know you hacked into my conversations, I know you’ve done a lot. You are perfect Mafia material. I thought training you was going to be hard, but you have it in your blood. Go and get ready.”
