Chapter 53 - Luna's Second Chance Beta

5 years later

Emma POV

It's hard to believe it's been five years since Scarlett was born. Today is her fifth birthday and needless to say she is super excited. I still thank the Moon Goddess every day for my family. Scarlett is a handful and was definitely made to be Alpha. She thinks she is in charge already. A year after Scarlett was born, I got pregnant with our second pup. Thomas is three years old and the spitting image of his father. I haven't got to tell Xander yet, but I found out yesterday that I am pregnant with our third and final pup. I am excited to tell him because I know he will be thrilled as he loves being a father. I planned an intimate dinner for us tonight and I'll tell him then. This afternoon all our friends and family will be coming over for a birthday party.

Xander, I yell into the bathroom for him to hurry up. It's almost time for the party and everyone is arriving. The door opens and he comes out in a towel. The man still is as hot as ever and I enjoy the show. He chuckles "enjoying the view precious." I always do love but no time for that now we have a party to get to. He laughs going into the closet to get dressed. He comes out in a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. I am wearing a blue sun dress. I go to Scarlett's room while Xander grabs Thomas from his room. I walk in and Scarlett is sitting on her bed, and she looks distraught. Scarlett baby what's the matter? She doesn't answer and I go to sit next to her. I put my arm around her, baby girl what is wrong it's your birthday. You should be happy. "Mommy is daddy not my real daddy." Oh my god where the hell did that come from, I think to myself. I had hoped to never have this conversation with our daughter, but I won't lie to her. Scarlett what would make you say that? "Some of the pack children said my real daddy's name was Chase and he was evil." I can see the tears in her eyes, and I want to pummel these small children even though I know that I can't. I take a deep breath and begin to explain to my little girl the truth. Scarlett a daddy isn't just the man that makes you. Who takes care of you every day? "You and daddy take care of me." Who loves you every day? "You and daddy love me." A daddy is the man that loves you and takes care of you no matter who helped make you. Daddy that you see every day and calls you princess is your daddy no matter what those children say. "I understand mommy" she leans in and hugs me. This little girl amazes me every day with her strength. Let's get to your party before all your cake is gone. She laughs "they can't have the cake without me mommy I'm the birthday girl." She stands and I straighten her pink dress. I take her hand and we head to the garden where everyone is waiting. When we get there, she immediately runs to Xander who picks her ups swinging her around. I am sure it won't be our last conversation about Chase, but I know she will never doubt who her real father is.

Everyone is here today to celebrate. Thomas and Mauve are seated at a table and surrounded by all their grandchildren. Xane and Sarah ended up having a boy they named Xane Jr who looks more like Sarah then he does Xane. They also have a one-year-old daughter named Emily. I was over the moon when they wanted to name her Emily. She is a beautiful little girl. Xane Jr will be the next Alpha of the Wildfire pack when Xane is ready to turn over his title. Neal and Cassie are here with their brood. They have Michael who is four, Maddox and Maverick who are 2, and a brand-new baby girl named Olivia. They definitely have their hands full, but they never complain. When Maverick and Maddox see me, they come running. They are my shadows when they come to visit, and I love it. They are like my own children.

After the party is over and everything is cleaned up, I ask Sarah to take the two pups so I can have dinner with my husband. "What are you trying for another" she says with a smile. The look on my face must give it away because her mouth falls open. "Your pregnant, aren't you?" Maybe, don't say anything it's a surprise for him tonight. She makes the sign for zipping her lips and hugs me tight. "Congratulations Emma I am so happy for you." The door opens and Xander walks in. "What mischief are you two ladies up to?" We are never up to anything your just paranoid love. "Sure, I know when my wife is up to something dear, and you most certainly are." I just asked Sarah to take Scarlett and Thomas tonight so we can have dinner alone. "Oh, that sounds great he says while waggling his eyebrows at me." I chuckle and give him a quick kiss before Sarah, and I leave.

Xander POV

I think Emma is up to more than just dinner, but I'll let her have her surprise. At five I head to our private dining room, and everything is set up. Emma is wearing a beautiful dress and she looks stunning. I walk over and take her into my arms. How did I get so lucky to have you precious? "We both got very lucky love." I kiss her and we sit down to eat. I enjoy spending time with our children but right now I am thrilled to have some time with my wife alone. After we finish with our meal Emma goes to the kitchen to grab dessert. I would much rather have her than a piece of cake. I left my link open so she could hear my thought and when she walks back in, she laughs. "I think you might want this cake more than me right now." That is very unlikely precious I chuckle. She sets the cake down in front of me and I am shocked. There is a message on the cake "You did it again daddy see you soon." I look up into Emma's face. Are you serious you're having another pup? She nods her head yes and I am over the moon. I get up and grab her lifting her off the ground. Thank you precious for loving me and giving me three beautiful pups. "Right back at you love."
