Chapter 50 - Luna's Second Chance Beta

Xander POV

I wake and Emma is in my arms where she belongs. My arm is resting across her baby bump. I start to rub when I feel a little kick. Fang that was amazing my pup just kicked. Despite Scarlet not coming from my seed Fang has made a connection with her which is amazing. She is kicking because she recognizes me as her daddy. I put my face near Emma's belly. Hello sweet girl Scarlett, daddy loves you. She kicks again against my cheek. I feel a hand in my hair and Emma's sweet voice "she recognizes her daddy's voice; I won't stand a chance when she is born." "She is already a daddy's girl." She chuckles and I kiss her belly. I sit up and kiss her lips. How are you feeling precious? "I am wonderful, how about you?" Couldn't be any better than I am right now. We have to meet with Elder Shane this morning and I would like to have that dinner with dad tonight since we never got to have it. "Absolutely my love, I better get up and showered so we can get to our meeting." I have other ideas because we still have time. I don't want to spoil the mood, but I know Emma well enough to know that whatever Chase did to her is probably weighing on her mind. Emma, I want you to know that whatever happened with Chase that you did to save your life I understand, and you shouldn't carry any guilt for. I see the tears well up in her eyes. Do you want to tell me what happened? Emma nods her head and tells me what he made her do. I am glad we didn't kill that prick last night because I am going to enjoy finishing him off today after what she just told me. "I'm so sorry Xander I swear I didn't want to do it, but I knew what he would do to Sarah and me." Don't you ever apologize, I know you had no choice and the only person that has any blame is Chase. "Thank you for not hating me, I love you Xander." I love you more precious. I show her all morning how much I love her before we get out of bed for our meeting.

Xane POV

When I wake up Sarah isn't in bed, and I panic a little until I hear her retching in the bathroom. I rush to the bathroom and hold her hair back. Are you ok my love? I hand her a washcloth and she wipes her mouth. "I will be just some morning sickness, Emma had it remember." I do I just hate to see you sick. "I'm ok with it I am growing a part of you and me that's worth any sickness." I kiss her forehead and I help her up. We have a meeting with Elder Shane this morning. I invited Cassie and Neal. She looks at me confused. Neal said he wanted to speak to all of us, so I figured the meeting would kill two birds with one stone. She smiles "sounds good, I'm going to jump in the shower to get ready." Do you need any help? She giggles "I think I can manage but if you want to join me, I won't kick you out." I smile and we get into the shower.

Emma POV

We are finished getting dressed to head to our meeting. I didn't want to talk to Xander about what happened but I'm honestly glad there is no secrets between us. Even though I know I had no choice I still felt guilty for what I had to do. Xander comes out of the closet, and we head downstairs. When we walk into the conference room everyone is already seated. Xane, Sarah, Neal, Cassie and Elder Shane are talking when we take our seats. We all look toward Elder Shane.

Neal POV

"Thank you all for meeting with me today" Elder Shane says. "I just wanted to thank you all for your parts in bringing Chase to justice." "I know you will be carrying out his punishment today and this whole ordeal can be behind you." He turns toward me "Neal, I know you wanted to speak to all of us, please let us know what is on your mind." I wanted to thank you all for saving Cassie and myself. I will forever be in your debt. When we were in the dungeon, we discussed our future and we have decided we would like to make some changes. I would like to return to my role as Beta of the Crimson pack which of course would make Cassie the Beta Female. "That's concerning as Beta's typically becomes Alpha when there is no heir left to take the position." I do understand that Elder, but I have a suggestion that I believe will make the most sense. "I am willing to take your suggestion under consideration." I believe that Xander should become the Alpha and Emma Luna once again. I see Xander's eyes get big, and he starts to protest "I am the Beta of the Wildfire pack I can't leave my brother." I believe that you and Scarlet are the rightful Alpha's. I see Elder Shane smile and he nods at me. He turns toward Xander and Xane.

Xane POV

When Neal says it should be Xander I am torn. I love my brother and I don't want him to be away from me, but I know that he was meant for this role. His daughter is the rightful heir to the pack, and he should absolutely be Alpha. When he automatically says no, I know it's because of me. Elder Shane turns toward us, and I nod at him. Xander they are right. My brother snaps his head toward me. "I will not leave our pack and you; I am the Beta." No, you are not, and you never should have been. I let you dig in your heels and not share Alpha duties because I was happy to be Alpha, but you are an Alpha too. I see the conflict on his face. It is time you took on the role you were born for. We will always be together no matter how far away you live. Our packs will be allies brother. "I agree with Neal and Xane you are the best Alpha the pack could have" Elder Shane says.

Xander POV

I can't believe what they are all suggesting I can't leave my pack or my brother. I see him every day now I won't be able to do that running a pack. I need to talk to Emma and Xane alone before I make any decisions. I appreciate everything you have all said and I will take some time before I give you an answer. Everyone nods at me, and I get up followed by Emma. When we get back to our floor I sit on our couch, and she sits beside me. I can't believe they are even suggesting me leaving my pack. I look at Emma and I already know I am not going to like what she is about to say. "Why don't you want to do this Xander?" I won't see my brother and I love my pack. "I don't care what title you hold I love you as a Beta, an Alpha, or if you were an omega." I smile because I know how true that is. "Don't get mad when I say this to you, but I think you're afraid besides the other two reasons you named." I don't want to admit it but she is right. It has been easier to be Beta and follow Xane's lead. I was the support instead of being in charge. "I will support you no matter what decision you make but I want you to know I have faith that you would be a wonderful Alpha to the Crimson pack." She leans in and kisses me before she gets up heading into our room leaving me to think about what I want to do.
