Chapter 91 Schedule
Avalors, you will be around the castle, mostly covering for Melissa, any Council meeting should be attended by you," Beatrice began then she raised her eyes up as she remembered something. "Melissa, the council is trying to put you as a Luna in training, so they will install someone else as the Alpha for the meantime," she informed.
Melissa scoffed. "They won't rest, will they?" She shook her head and just folded her arms. She had a lot going on with her that the council was starting to seem like a very annoying little rat just scurrying around. "Can Avalors handle that?" She asked.
"Oh, most definitely, if they want you to step down, Avalors is powerful, influential and experienced enough to be our Alpha," she said. "So either way, the power will remain with you," she said. "It is but a minor inconvenience."
Melissa nodded and Beatrice continued. "So, as I was saying, Avalors would mostly be here, but on Friday when Melissa would be meeting with this Mageret, you will go with her," she said.
Melissa bulged her eyes. "I am meeting with Mageret?" She asked.
"Just listen," Beatrice replied with that expressionless tired gaze she always had. "Richard, you have no real schedule, just don't let her out of your sight and you will be squarely in control of her training." Richard nodded without a question.
Melissa smiled and telepathically teased Richard. "I am sure you'd like that," she said with her mind.
"Focus on the meeting, dude," he replied telepathically too, but he gave her a knowing smile.
"Melissa, you have the most difficult of the jobs," she said. "You need to try to watch whatever is on the drive and read everything within this too," she stretched her hand and snatched the book from Richard's hand and slid it towards her. "You also need to try and make another meeting with the Vance pack, and send an ambassador to them, we need to pressurize them. Then lastly, you will meet with Mageret," she said.
"I will put a stop to the kidnapping," she said. "I am mostly going to be out of the castle grounds tomorrow to talk to Nathaniel, and also I will be handling the council meeting with Avalors." She said. "Any adjustment?"
"Yeah," Richard spoke and Beatrice readily clicked her pen, posing to write. That was one thing about Richard, when he speaks; it was always a solid addition. "If they are so confident with kidnapping Melissa then they probably have spies within the palace or close. It also shows why they think we are weak, we need to scout those out," he said. "So,instead of getting off the castle grounds, bring Nathaniel here," he said.
Beatrice nodded in affirmation. She didn't argue at all. "Okay, I’ll reschedule then," she concluded.
"So, our focus this week is stopping Vance pack, stopping the Council's petty game, learning about the oracle and meeting Mageret. Gleam as much information you can and we will meet here next week," Melissa stood up and nodded.
They all replied with a bow and they all started to pack their things and started to head out, aside from Melissa who just sat there staring at space. Richard turned back with an inquisitive expression.
"Oh, you guys go on, I need to think," Melissa said with a smile.
Richard nodded then whispered something to Beatrice that was inaudible to her. Beatrice raised her eyebrows. "That is true, Melissa?" She called and Melissa glanced up.
"About your training," she said and Melissa raised her gaze expecting her to complete her statement, but instead of words, Beatrice flipped her ball point pen at her with an intense force. The pen swooshed through the air, and the moment it would hit Melissa squarely in the eyeball she shot her hand up and caught it.
Melissa looked at her with bulged eyes and a surprised look on her face. "What the hell was that?" She asked.
Neither of them replied to her, Avalor just looked back and snuffled, leaving the room hurriedly. Beatrice and Richard started to discuss her at the door like she didn't exist. "I told you it is like precognition, not necessarily speed,” Richard said.
"I still believe it is her speed making it seem that she can actually feel it before it happens," Beatrice said. "Test the two out anyways so you will know which to actually work on," she said and then waved at Melissa before leaving.
Melissa just sat there dumbfounded, too surprised to talk. "We were trying to test your reaction speed," Richard said with a casual tone like they didn't just try to drill her eyes out
"What if I hadn't caught it? I am starting to feel safer around Vance kidnappers," she said.
Richard walked towards her and gave her a peck on the forehead. "You feel disturbed," he said.
"Yeah ," she replied with sarcasm. "I almost died just now," she said.
Richard laughed with all his teeth out and Melissa thought it was cute. "You are faster than the average wolf. The average wolf had a sixty percent chance of catching that. With you, we were sure you would, we just wanted how you did it," he said.
"And what was the assessment?" She asked.
"You caught it at the very last minute but you reacted to it longer than that. My guess is your brain is moving faster than your body, but still, when you catch it, it seems your body is moving faster. It is confusing," he sighed.
"Well, I don't wanna hear it if it is confusing, I only want to hear something straightforward," she said, sighing along with him.
Richard grinned, leaned forward and their eyes met for a while before she leaned forward to kiss him too. How she felt about him was straightforward, the kiss was straightforward but their relationship really isn't but Melissa didn't care currently. She put her hand around him and kissed him some more.
After this week was done, she would try to face that trauma she held deep within and once and for all decide what she was going to do but for now, she just wanted to lose herself in the firm arms of the one she loves.
