Chapter 89 Special Luna
Melissa exhaled. She didn't even know if she wanted to go forward at this point. Beatrice looked at her. "Go on," she edged her.
"Let us just do this meeting first, afterward you can keep flipping the books" she replied.
"You still haven't made your peace with them?" Beatrice asked.
"No. Not that. It is just, this shows they knew they were going to die. It feels like they wanted to," Melissa said at last. The thought had been weighing her down since she started finding clues.
"It seems so, why is that making you afraid?"she asked.
"It is not…" she screamed and then looked at her. She paused and just stopped talking.
Beatrice moved towards her. "Bottling it won't ease your pain. Say it. How is it making you feel," she pestered her.
"Angry!" She screamed. "Insanely mad. How could they, how could Dreykov do this to me," she said. "Their entire existence has been based on them dying for me to become queen. You got kidnapped days ago and I saw it in you too. You'd have willingly died for me, you did it once. Richard would, Avalors would, even Candice and Vanessa would too. And at times it feels like everyone wants an opportunity to die for me." She caught her breaths for a while. "And here I am trying to keep everyone alive and the first thing you guys want to do is plunge into certain death for a girl who doesn't know the first thing about governance," she sat down. "You wanted me to speak. There I spoke. It doesn't make me feel better."
Beatrice sat exactly beside her. "Your parents didn't die for you," she said. "Your parents were murdered, and the perpetrators still live, in comfort and peace. We don't want to die for you. But if death were to come, it would rather be us than you." she said.
"And why is that? What is so special about me," she said.
Beatrice smiled. "Don't ask me that question, ask Vaness and Candice. Ask the common man," she said. "It takes a special person to catch a bullet meant to kill her," she said. "You saved my life, you saved Vanessa's. You stood up to the infernal. You are on your way to negotiate peace with the Vance pack. Even while everyone said you can't you persevered." Beatrice said. "That to me is special."

"That's all because I had knowledge beforehand." She said, "I was basically useless when I first got this," she complained. "I am not special because it's me, I am special because some goddess granted me some special graces," Melissa relaxed, her hands folded on the chair.
"It takes someone special to be seen by the gods. And I don't think the special grace is the reason you took me to a party and made me have a happy time. You are not special because of a goddess. You are special because you care and you are kind, and most importantly because you are you, Melissa Dunham," Beateice touched her cheek and she smiled.
"Thanks," she replied after a moment of silence. "I needed that," Melissa said. "I didn't know you could be such a softie," she giggled and Beatrice clicked her tongue.
"You are a sorry excuse for a friend," she said.
"Help me get the shelf up," Melissa giggled and Beateice nodded with a smile. They got the shelf up and arranged everything orderly
Avalors and Richard entered after a while and they found the two just sitting down with a file at the center of the table. Beatrice had decided they didn't open it yet so it didn't confuse them. They should have the meeting with a plain mind first and then begin the entire new information with a fresh mind the next day.
They flipped open the letter and Avalors read it out with a very old and ancient tone. He'd that thing about his voice that made him side like some ancient dragon of wisdom.
The letter's content had been that they'd set up their base and one of their agents had infiltrated Infinite Zoos as a clerk. They'd also join the police force. The task force they'd set up was way more useful than Melissa imagined.
They'd listed out the entire staff list of Infinite Zoos. They would begin investigating the zoo in itself by next week.
"Well that is that," Avalors said immediately he was done.
Melissa had no comments at all to the entire situation. "Anyone have a comment?" She asked.
"Nah," Beatrice said. "Everything is still going as planned. Their mission report is detailed enough," she said.
"We sorted out their wages right?" Melissa asked.
"Yes, they are earning more than Richard as it stands," Avalors said with a chuckle.
"What can I say, my boss is horrible," Richard retorted.
The two laughed a bit and then continued. "However, there is also a message from Nathaniel."
Melissa tensed. She'd tried her best to cover him during the while meeting with the Vance pack. Had it gone back to bite him? "What did he send?"
"Oh, it is short and simple. The Vance pack are planning to kidnap the Luna," Richard said. "Apparently they have no respect for us yet," he said. "And I will make sure they learn respect," Richard said.
Melissa raised her eyebrows. Even if they could, how would Nathaniel know? It was one thing that he conveniently knew the cure to the disease and now he also knows when they want to kidnap her.
Beatrice spoke before Melissa could. "I know how it looks. But he is not your enemy, I vouch for him,"she said.
Melissa looked at her with a raised eyebrow and a smile. About a week ago, they were at each other's throat and now she is here protesting him. "I am not doubting him, I just don't like that he is hiding something from me." She said.
"I'll speak to him," Beatrice said.
"Definitely, you have to," Melissa said. "If it's not transparent help, I don't want it," she said.
"What else?" Melissa asked.
"Nothing," Richard said. 'What is in that file though?" He asked and Melissa exhaled, of course he would ask.
"Take a look at it yourself," she replied.
