Chapter 83 Friendship

Chapter 83 Friendship
Melissa ate another spoonful of that soup and then pushed herself away. "Not anymore," she said. "Beatrice, please."
The woman smiled at her and then placed the soup on the ground beside her, covering it. "Vengeance is a dish, best served cold," she said with a chuckle.
"But isn't that petty?" Melissa creased her brows. "You are supposed to be the elderly woman," she complained with an eye roll.
Beatrice nodded sarcastically. "I am the prettiest human being ever," she said with a grin.
Melissa shifted her weight and tried to climb out of the bed. Beatrice put the chair and soup away, then tried to support her but Melissa shook her head. "I am fine," she said. "My wounds healed, I am okay," she affirmed, placing her feet on the ground.
She felt a bit lightheaded as she did so, "I don't understand, I feel fine," she said as she realized she might not be able to walk alone.
"You lost blood," Beatrice said. "The only reason you are awake now is because your body is healing faster than normal, even for a wolf," she said. "You are like a natural Luna, not just the title," she explained, supporting her as she stood up.
She started to walk around the room with the help of Beatrice steadying her every movement. They were waiting for Richard and Avalors who had gone up to set up a meeting between them and the Ambassador. Melissa had decided to get herself a little stronger before she'd go for the meeting.
After a while, Beatrice stopped helping her and she started moving on her own, her lightheadedness, reducing by a bit. "How did getting shot feel?" Beatrice asked.
"Painful," she said.
"What did you expect?" Beatrice chuckled and Melissa did too, this caused her to miss a step and trip. Before she could even get the feeling of falling, Beatrice caught her. For a moment there, they looked at each other and Melissa just relaxed in her atm.
She slowly sat down with Melissa, laying her down, with her head on Beatrice's lap. She then began to run her hand all over the Luna's hair. "I was really afraid something might happen to you," Beatrice said out of the blue.
"You made sure it didn't happen, and I thank you," she responded with a smile.
"I have never really had a friend. Growing up it was just me and Nat. The only friend I ever had was Hashar and it came as a shock when I discovered he was my mate," Beatrice said. "What I have with you is different, and I really would like to keep you around much longer," she exhaled and smiled. "Does that make sense?"
"It does," Melissa said, understanding her completely. "My entire lifetime, I've been surrounded by people who saw me as just the daughter of the Alpha. Only my family was there, and Richard. Everyone else saw me either as a tool, or a competition, or an idiot," she smiled. "I didn't know why then, and I still don't know why now, but thank you for being so loyal to me and my parents," Melissa said, getting herself up from her leg. "And thank you for being my friend,"
"Okay, you are getting me teary-eyed," Beatrice said, cleaning her eyes and Melissa giggled.
Melissa looked at her for a while before hugging her tightly. "Let's get this meeting out of the way, we have to go on a girl's trip together," she said.
Melissa with a bit of help, got up from the floor and as if on cue, Avalors opened the door. "Good, you are up, come on, we have to go," he said..
Beatrice steadied Melissa as she walked outside of her ward. "Where is Richard?"
"The ambassador would only trust the demon wolf to protect him," Avalors informed.
Melissa smiled and they walked towards the room where the meeting would take place. It seemed Avalors and Richard had gone through the trouble of rearranging an entire ward. Melissa sat down in a chair at the edge of the table, the Ambassador was at the other end. Two of his councilmen were present.
Richard and the others also took a seat and the meeting began...
The ambassador man, though, was for a fact a very cowardly wolf, he was highly intelligent. He understood what it took for the two packs to go to war. Just imagining it made Melissa shudder.
“What can you give me to convince my King to let us stay under you?" he asked. "Young queen, I am not interested in this war at all, and neither is my king, but we need help, we need to shift from our land, we need to,"
Melissa used her trump card immediately, "You leaving your land won't cure you from the Moon rage." Melissa said and the man gasped in shock. "However, I have a cure that would work," she said straight up, she wasn't interested in playing any games. There is an offer on the table, you want it or not?
"How do you know about that?" One of his council members asked in fear.
"I have spies everywhere, do you think, the Vance pack's secret is all hidden from me?" She said with a smile. "I am the Luna of the largest pack in the entire world, of course, I keep an eye on every pack. My offer has landed, are you in or out?" she said.
The ambassador seemed to be doing calculations of his own. "I will have to discuss it with my Alpha, and then we'll get back to you," he said.
Melissa looked at him. "Let that be quick, for your own sake. I am a new Luna, and I am a little trigger-happy," she said. "I do hope though, that we can coexist peacefully," Melissa had managed to instill fear in the man, and also make the kingdom look more formidable than the rumors had said.
The Ambassador bowed and stood up. "I hope the next time we meet, it is on more peaceful terms," he said in a respectful tone and Melissa smiled back in response.
