Chapter 81 Daine

Chapter 81 Daine
Melissa opened her eyes and she was surrounded by darkness. She was in a temple, surrounded by candlelight. If she'd been human, she'd probably have an issue seeing things. She was seated in the temple and she could see a lady seated in front of her, with her legs crossed, seated on a chair that faced hers.
"It is really hard to get hold of you these days," she said with a smile.
Even though she was smiling, Melissa could sense the entire room and she could feel the emotion of fear coming from her. Even though she was smiling, it was as though she was afraid of something.
"Hello, Witch," Melissa said.
"I have a name you know," she replied, shaking her head.
"Shocking," Melissa replied in feigned surprise. "I mean you are always the one saying who I am matters not." Melissa rolled her eyes.
The moment she'd woken up in a temple, she already knew she was with the witch, she could remember perfectly well what had happened to her. She knew she'd lost consciousness when Richard burned out the poison from within her. She was still shaken from the thought of the pain.
"Well, it does now, when you seem to be the only one who can help me out," she said.
"From what?" Melissa asked. She withdrew. "You know I can only help you, if I know what is wrong with you, right?" she said.
She nodded. "My name is Diane," she said. "I need you to rescue my daughter," she said with gritted teeth.
Melissa could see the disgust she was feeling, she didn't need to use her powers to know this one. What she'd just said now was like a shattering blow to her humility. She was probably a very high-level witch and she could enter people's dreams. She could change her appearance, why the hell in the world would she not be able to rescue her child?
"What is holding your child?" Melissa asked.
"Not what, Who," she said. "I cannot say their name, I can't even give you the slightest hint of who they are," she said. "It is one of the reasons why I can't come to the palace," she began. "My initial plan was to trick you into helping me. I felt that knowing that you came back from the dead and turned back down would help you revere me, but it isn't working and my daughter is running out of time."
Melissa felt for her even though she couldn't understand what she was feeling persay, but she could project herself to. She didn't have a child of her own, but if she did, no one was going to touch any hair on their body without her going completely crazy. She looked at her. "Why can't you tell me who they are and how do you know about me?" She asked. Just because she felt for her doesn't mean she would allow herself to fall for any tricks. She would ask every question that needed answering.
She nodded. "I am under oath not to speak about it." She said.
"Oh, so you won't break an oath to save your daughter's life?” she said. "You are one very funny witch."
"It is a magical oath, stupid child. The moment I try to say it I will die," she said. "To stop myself from just dying while trying, I erased the memory from my head," she added. "As for your second question," she said. "I am a diviner, I can see things and I could see the scythe of death on you, but it seemed broken, it meant you have escaped death. So I looked into you and divined your very fortune. I saw that you'd died once. It almost killed me seeing that by the way. It seems a very powerful force had caused that to happen."
"What do you think?" Melissa replied.
She nodded. "So yeah, what else do you want to know? Would you help me now?" he asked.
"Nah," Melissa replied.
"What? Why?" She asked as if Melissa was obligated to help her.
"Okay, look, lady," she said. "I just got shot in the arm in real life. I have loads of paperwork I haven't done, a criminal organization might be after me, I still don't know how to hold the Vance pack together, and my council hates me. I gave my mating bond to the wrong person, I haven't even found the right one and the person making me happy right now might break up with me when I find my real mate. Madam! I do not want your problems," she said. "I am hellishly tired already," she sighed and just slumped into the chair.
The witch looked at her and smiled. "What if I offer my help for most of your problems?" she said
"What do you mean?" Melissa asked.
"I am a witch, naturally I am highly knowledgeable. I will help you know who your mate is, I will help you find out who is trying to assassinate you. I can help," she said.
"So you are gonna come to the palace?" Melissa asked.
"No, I am gonna do that here," she replied. "I will come to your dreams, and we will discuss things, I really can help." She said.
"Hmm," Melissa exhaled. "I guess, I can take you up on that offer. I really wanna know who my mate is," she said.
"To know that is easy, and I think already know who it is, you are just denying it unconsciously because you are afraid of something," Diane informed her with a cheeky smile.
"What do you mean?" Melissa asked, completely curious.
"When you ignore that mating bond completely, you will get the realization. You are purposely letting the mating bond stop you because you are afraid that if you know, it might not be the person you love."
"Oh, you are right, " Melissa replied. "This thing is unconscious like post-traumatic stress, how do I get past it?” she said.
"Simple," she said. "Go and meet your wolf and convince her to tell you," she said.
"Okay," Melissa nodded.
"We are out of time," she said. "Next time we meet, I will tell you more about my daughter." she quickly said and the entire scenery crumbled and Melissa opened her eyes.
