Chapter 164 A capture plan
The drive back to the castle was awfully quiet. The infernal was right behind them driving Richard's car like it was his own. Melissa could see the disdain in Richard's face. However there was nothing he could do, they'd been waiting for him to wake up all this while and as it would seem, he woke up and just waltzed out of the hospital.
Melissa inhaled and didn't even Want to think of what had happened earlier. She had certainly made a new enemy with the inquisition and now she also knew that the inquisition also had members of the Oracle within them.
Traz was one of them and they'd bullied him literally to get what they wanted. Melissa had almost laughed at the face Traz made when he discovered his men's gun had jammed. It was all thanks to Beateice's ability. She had grown well with its precision and range. Melissa wasn't much surprised, she knew she was training herself to the limit every moment she could. That was the kind of person Beatrice is.
Melissa yawned and closed her eyes for a while and by the time she would open it they were in the palace and they all walked into the palace with loads of people pointing their hands at Joyce but the woman didn't mind she walked forward with an unwavering expression.
Melissa couldn't help but feel concerned, she understood first hand the feeling of being called out. In her past life, during her rule she had signed off a document under the subtle persuasion of Alina and Ronald. The document itself seemed harmless, but it had caused the death of six workers during a road construction. She visited the place and she could hear the people whispering in hushed tones filled with judgment and disdain.
IShe hated how it felt, how she knew she was the cause of this but still no one would take a sliver of a moment to try and understand her plight. She could only imagine how Joyce was feeling inside as she was being accused of something she didn't truly even comprehend yet.
They all walked away and entered the dining room together. This was their makeshift common room. They all sat down and Melissa exhaled tiredly. She then motioned for Vanessa. “Get Nathaniel,” she said.
The room sat in silence for a while, everyone articulating their thoughts and trying to calm themselves down. The inquisitor had threatened Melissa's entire rule and that had struck a blow right on everyone of them. Something needed to be done and that gaze was evident on everyone's face.
Soon enough Nathaniel walked in with Vanessa and Candice, in addition Vanessa held an envelope in her hand. She handed it over to Melissa and both maids glanced at everyone seated and they made the assessment that they were not supposed to be here. They bowed and turned around.
Seated at the dining at the moment was; Melissa and her court including Margaret, Hance and Arya, The infernal and Nathaniel. Before the meeting would commence, Melissa flipped open the letter and as expected it was from their detective team they'd set up.
The writer of the letter seemed to have written it in a hurried manner, unlike all of their other letters, that was always neatly typed and folded, this one was hand written and it was obvious with the condition of the lettering that it was rushed.
“We have been outed,” the letter began. “The Oracle is on the hunt for us and we have taken refuge in the woods, we hope we can navigate through till they lose our scent. The operation was a success to a certain extent as we have managed to steal something of unimaginable proportions from them. We stole a witch and a few vials of chemicals. We also managed to burn the lab underneath the Infinite zoos to the ground. Though I do not imagine that accomplished much but as I would believe they know you sent us and there is going to probably be an open rebellion from within the castle starting tonight.” Melissa paused reading and glanced at Avalors, she didn't want to read this alone. She stretched the paper to Avalors.
The man started from the beginning and read the letter all the way to the point where Melissa stopped. The reason she gave him to read was because everyone loved his reading voice. It sounded like an old dragon from folk tale telling stories to a group of humans.
“I am writing this to inform you of our progress, but I cannot write this in the lengthy and explained form we have been. Although I have already confined myself to death, I still hope I can survive if I write this fast enough. Pardon me! If you want to meet the group they would probably be at Hackbone's pass by now. They have a hot tail chasing them, but they would be able to hold out for at least four days. They are led by Eric and he assured me they will last four days. Other members are scattered in the wind and some have been caught already. We do not need your help however we need you to lay your hands on the witch. She is the linchpin of their operations. “ Avalors stopped reading and looked up at them.
“He didn't finish writing it,” he said. He turned the paper to them and it just said the word. “I also think…”
“He probably needed to post it hurriedly. The letter would have gotten here two days after he wrote this. Exactly a day after the attack,” Avalors said. “Your majesty. We are officially at war with the shadow organization known as The Oracle,” he declared and sat down.
Melissa smiled and her own smile scared her. Normally, she was the one to avoid danger or violence and even if she wanted to actually fight, fun isn't what she really considered. But this does put a smile on her face.
She stood up and faced the entire council. “War is won by soldiers and careful tactical plans. So first we need to list out all the variables of this war,” as she spoke her aura spread shielding the entire room. She felt her aura had overlaid with Richard's and she turned to him with a surprised face. As it would seem he had also shielded the entire room and concealed it.
“First thing I will list out is to capture the person who framed Joyce,” she smiled.
