Chapter 159 Master code.
The entire News report had helped Melissa understand how to deal with some situations. Not every situation warranted a counter or force. Some just warranted avoidance and creating a bigger problem just to solve them. That was the tactic that'd been thrown at the scandal. Instead of trying to speak against the video endlessly Beatrice had them try something less pressuring and more effective.
The reason the scandal was so effective was that it was news that drew the attention of the people. It'd sow doubts in their minds even if it is true or not, people were talking about it and its core reduced her credibility. So Melissa instead opted for making a bigger scene. The bigger scene was making her abilities known to all. To reignite that prophecy Richard and Margaret told her about and put the scandal news in the dust.
She knew she would have to wait an entire day to get the result of her actions. On the other hand she had something else to do and she needed to change out of this dress fast.
“Help me with the zip,” Melissa called to Richard.
The man was in her room just sitting and staring blankly at her like she was a wall or something, he seemed to be lost in thoughts but Melissa’s request shook him out. He stood up and instead of helping her with the zip he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her neck from behind.
“We don't have time for this,” she said. “We can't keep him waiting,” she said, obviously lying to herself. She enjoyed every bit of his touch and she didn't actually want to leave at all.
Richard giggled. “I need to speak to you though,” he said. “Before you sleep tonight,” Melissa's face went a little pale. He chuckled when he saw how afraid she was. “It is not about the mark. I am sorry I brought it up today. I sincerely want to have a more open relationship with you but I can wait. Sometimes I do like to think and wonder how it would feel to kiss you in front of everyone,” he said, dragging down her zip.
She turned towards him and exhaled. “I am sorry I put us in this situation,” she said and he ran his hand along her face till it reached her chin before gently pushing it up so that her gray eyes would stare directly into his.
“You have nothing to apologize for,” he said. “If I tried a little more then too maybe it would have worked out better, but we cannot keep holding ourselves back because of our inactions. It is time to let them go and embrace what we have.” He placed his mouth on hers and kissed her softly.
She closed her eyes and inhaled his scent as she kissed him back passionately. He released her then pecked her on the head. “I will see you outside, don't keep us waiting,” he said with a smile before opening the door and disappearing into the corridor. Melissa smiled and she could feel her cheeks heat up and she knew instinctively they would be bright red now. She didn't have anything going on in her head other than her lovely moments with him that just made her fluster more.
Melissa shook herself together and quickly changed her dress. She headed out of the room and headed for the security room. She used her thumbprint and the door unlocked and she swung it open. Everyone in the security detail stood up immediately and bowed to her. The last time she'd come, they didn't notice her but today they were all expecting her so they were all prepared. She waved for them to sit down.
She headed to the small compartment that was for Joyce and she opened the door. The room was a little crowded at least it felt that way due to its size. Richard was standing in a corner just watching, while Jacob and Hance were trying to talk the two monsters who were currently at each other's throats down.
Melissa chuckled as she watched Peter Mikaeleson and Joyce have a go at it. As it would seem, the moment they saw each other they both became very envious and they were now arguing over some code that she didn't care about. She tapped Peter on the back and he turned around. “Eriica,” he said, hugging her tightly.
Melissa giggled under his bosom. “My man Richard's turned so cold these days. He gave me an awkward handshake and kept scratching his head. I mean when you earn a name like demon wolf, I think it comes with the description,” he said, eyeing Richard.
Melissa glanced at him then chuckled slightly. “He is just shy,” she said. ”He doesn't know what to say after seeing you all this while,” she said.
Peter smiled. ,”Aww come on little cub I don't bite.” He teased and Richard replied to him with glowing eyes.
“It is nice to see that you've met Joyce and the others, so we can get to business?” She asked.
He nodded and Melissa led him outside. They'd decided to call Peter after they'd all been unable to retrieve the lost feeds. It seemed the person fed the computer with a virus that consumes feed for sustenance: at least that was how Joyce explained it to her.
She normally would have let this go and just waited for the culprit to make one more mistake but with that innocent guy in prison she knew she needed proof to actually help him out. She'd already instructed the sentinels not to allow any inquisitor in there. They might have a lot of graces, but they still answered to her.
Melissa walked Peter to Jensen's seat and showed him the feed. The boy saw the video a few times before he rose up. “Someone probably deleted this with the Master code before downloading a virus on the system itself to cover their tracks. But the mistake they made…” he paused for effect. “They used my virus,” he said with a smile.
“What does that mean… your virus?” Melissa asked.
“Yes. I wrote that virus,” he replied simply.
