Chapter 117 The Aura
Melissa exhaled, this was probably going to be the longest meeting they've ever had. Every detail would be critically looked into and they wouldn't shy away. Even if it took them an entire night, they would take on every subject. Normally, they would take a break if there was a need to.
"Who are these Survivors group, what do they stand for?" Avalors asked.
"They are just a small cult of mercenaries. At least they disguised themselves as such," Margaret explained. "I have an entire file on them back home," she informed. "Their main goal is to try and disrupt the political strength of Dunham and take over at last, finding a new habitat where vampires can at least regrow."
Melissa sighed again. "So they are not that much of a threat but they are really good at infiltration and exfil, more like spies?" she asked.
"Yes, definitely," she said
Melissa smiled. "Then we need one," she replied and everyone turned to her.
"If we can get one of those to infiltrate, the Oracle would be an easier task and to dissolve the Survivors too will fall into place at last. We need to start using our own resources effectively. I am tired of hiding our strength behind shadows," she said.
"Then how do you propose we actually get a member of the Survivors?" Margaret began. "Most of them are fanatics, they serve a deity they call the Hanged One," she said the deity's name in whispers. "They don't just drink blood, they bathe with it and do rituals that are only meant for deranged and insane people,"she said.
"So you fear them?" Melissa asked.
"And rightly so," she affirmed with a solemn nod.
Melissa sighed. "I have never come across a group without a member who isn't too okay with what it does. There is always doubt leaking from somewhere," she said.
"Why are you so adamant about this? You don't even know this group," she said.
"Yes, but I know someone who was once a member who defected," she said with a smile.
Richard turned to her. "You do?" He asked.
"Yes," she smiled. "Dad once took me to see a man at the edge of a small town who people run from because he bathed in the blood of animals. I remembered asking him why he did it- he said, old habits die hard." Melissa smiled.
One of her adventures with her dad paid off again.
"So you know about Ashin," Margret said. "I promise you though, he is unresponsive."
"He will respond to me," Melissa said. "Let us continue the meeting please, we drifted off the course for far too long," she declared.
Richard exhaled and shook his head. "Now that the first issue has been cleared, now we move to the next topic on ground," he said.
Melissa exhaled. The entire situation had left her on the edge of her seat. Her life seemed to be in danger from multiple sides now. She had no real safe zone, everywhere she went, she had enemies- enemies that wanted to kill her. Yet she'd never really done anything wrong to any of them. All she'd been about from the beginning had been the improvement of everyone's life.
Even in her past life she'd wanted the best for everyone Maybe the pressure had crumbled her then, but it wouldn't now. Whatever they threw at her now will be thrown back at twice the fold. She needed to get to travelling after the meeting with the Vance pack.
If she met Ashin, maybe most of her problems would be solved as regarding the Survivors that were trying to kill her but now she wanted Richard to speak.
"The second discussion about her is her abilities," he said with an exhalation. "At first, Melissa displayed an ability that would make her an empath. She could discern emotions, read them and nudge them sometimes," he explained.
"Well about three weeks ago, she developed an awareness for danger," he said. "We all saw what she did three days ago," he said. "I have never in my life heard that the innate abilities came in two or three as the case may be. It was always in one ability that evolved throughout the span of the wolf's life," Richard stopped and made sure everyone was following him.
"Margaret here however knows more about the subject, so please educate us," Richard sat down and pouted to the woman.
Melissa knew that Richard was about to pull his disappearing powers, so she turned to him before sound blasting him mentally. "Don't disappear," she told him telepathically.
He winced a bit from the pain and replied to her. "Okay."
Margaret stood up and began. "Her majesty's peculiar ability is what is called The Aura ,"she began. "To understand her abilities I will have to explain some things, from the very beginning,"she announced.
Everyone nodded slightly. "Wolves are creatures like every other creature with this physical prowress, we exhibit a signature in something called the Aether. Just take it as the energy that makes up the spiritual energy of the world."she began. "Most creatures never come in contact with the spiritual signature except through mediums or dreams. Wolves however can access them through the Wolf within them," she paused and looked at everyone.
Everyone nodded for her to continue. Even Melissa understood what she was saying now. In essence she means everything had a soul but everyone cannot relate with the said soul, but werewolves bypass that by having a Wolf inside them.
Melissa nodded.
"With our Wolves we can access the spiritual energy. From there we are able to connect deeper with our wolves thereby connecting to this primal signature. With this connection comes the innate abilities, which is the translation of our wolf's characteristics from the spirit realm to the physical," Margaret continued.
"Melissa's wolf allows her to translate her own signature back into the physical realm. She can use her conceptual aura. This Aura can extend across her body, serving different purposes the user wants it to have. "
Everyone looked at her and just sat silently, ruminating what she said.
"The Aura," Beatrice mumbled.
