Chapter 109 Silence and thoughts
Arabella led them through the exit and as they passed through the exit she turned back to them. "It is best we hold hands," she advised, stretching her hand out to them. They obeyed, no one really had any objections this time, even though billions of questions would be rushing through their heads, the first thing on their mind was to survive and reduce the amount of mess they would make.
They held their hands and they walked effortlessly down the street and even though they passed through certain crowds, nobody gave them a glance. Something was off with them and Melissa didn't know what it was.
They strolled through the tarred road, people still panicking here and there about personal belongings and all. A woman was screaming at a security, yelling that she needed a refund and that she was going to write a petition against the company and sue them. The security man only just stared silently at her with a straight face. The man seemed to be fed up for the day.
Melissa shook her head, all those obnoxious people didn't know what had really happened. Her mind imagined what would have happened if they'd actually died there. The people in here would have realized how close to dying even they were. And the fact that they had their own ruler murdered right in their hotel. The whole pack would have gone into panic and it would have affected the general morale.
The narrative that she was just a brat would have been sold by the council and the regional leaders and they would have been right. Ronald would have stepped up as the Alpha and everything would plunge from there.
They'd really been careful about all this and Melissa couldn't understand how they knew they were there and in a way it made her paranoid.
They reached a black vehicle that was packed on the side of the road. It was a jeep and a driver was seated in front patiently waiting for their arrival. They stopped holding hands as they reached the car I8and Arabella opened up gesturing for them to enter.
The driver moved immediately they all entered and they rode in silence for a few minutes, Melissa using the opportunity to arrange her thoughts.
First, she needed to know what happened to her earlier, she'd ignored it all the way here. She'd started to get confused about her own abilities. First it was her being able to sense people's emotions then she could perceive danger but now she could push people back with a force and cause glass to shatter, it was overwhelming. It was as if she'd walked out of a child's story book. She was in a way afraid of herself. Both of the last abilities she possessed were passive and didn't pose any threat to anyone but herself but this one? This one could obviously cause harm to everyone near her. She needed to learn control fast and start trying to understand what is wrong with her in particular.
Secondly, she was completely confused at how they were able to find them. Everything they'd done had been discreet enough. They'd not only known they were here, they knew the exact floor they were on. The hotel didn't really have cameras; one of the reasons they'd chosen it in the first place. Its main point of advertisement was that their customers had privacy. She shelved the thought, because the obvious reason was staring her in the eyes; someone in the car was probably a mole.
The last concerning thought was Arabella and Margaret. Two members of the Clover family were walking with them effortlessly without any catch. Although Arabella had told her a while ago that she wanted her to loosen the infernal's control on their family's wealth. She'd claimed she wanted that because her brother wasn't getting any financial graces from their father. When she'd just taken the throne, it sounded like an excuse, but now it doesn't. Royals rarely do things for other people.
Arabella had appeased her innocent nature then but now, she was a full fledged Luna and even the council had no choice but to accept her now. She was not cowering before anyone anymore and neither did she think she was craving for allies. Everyone needed to be at a level of trust to even gain her presence.
Margaret on the other hand was still believable , she had accessed her emotions herself and it was okay but she still needed to access them.
While she was in between thoughts, she felt a hand on her palm and she glanced up. She realized Richard had been sitting beside her all this while and she didn't notice. He looked at her with a blank expression, he wasn't interested in talking either but it seemed he just wanted to know if she was okay. She nodded at him and he looked away.
"Okay, this is eerie," Margaret broke the silence.
"What is?" Arabella asked her, glancing back from the front seat.
"The silence,"she said, glancing at everyone with a curious look.
"Everyone's a little shaken Maggie, just let them rest," Arabella replied with an assertive tone as if she was talking to a two year old girl.
"I am shaken too, talking helps with shock and it helps us relax," she said and then turned to Melissa. "Your majesty, are you alright?" She asked.
"I am okay," she replied with a tired look.
Melissa also instinctively glanced at everyone and they were all just mute. She understood Richard and Beatrice, those two didn't really like saying anything, this just gave them the right excuse to keep mute and stare like dead bodies. They had the same exact expression on their face now, like they were tired and needed sleep, yet a little frown was attached to it that signified they didn't want to be disturbed. But now, even Avalors was silent, his expression was more of a person thinking about a lot.
"Thanks for saving our lives," she thanked Arabella and the wolf scoffed.
"Right, thank you," Avalors sighed..
"How did you find us?" Beatrice asked the subtle question on everyone's mind.
Arabella looked back and smiled, "I will explain in due time," she answered as the car sped forward, leaving a trail of dust in their wake.
