Chapter 100 Journey

Chapter 100 Journey
Melissa sat beside Richard in the back seat while Beatrice sat in the front seat and Avalors drove them. The reason for the entire drama was to attract attention from both the Council and the Vance kidnappers.
Beatrice and Nathaniel had captured two of the spies in the castle. One of those spies worked as a maid and the other was a guard. They'd infiltrated the castle for five years and Melissa was just reading about this as they drove across towns. The journey to their destination would take at least seven hours which meant Melissa had the time to discuss with her personal council how things had been going.
She flipped Beatrice's report as they continued the ride in silence. Beatirce had also convinced Nathaniel to stop doing business with the man from Vance pack and Beatrice had described Nathaniel's resistance as trying to boil a rock to soften. Melissa giggled at this and she felt Richard's hand ruffle her hair, she glanced up at him and raised her eyes. "I am a busy man,"she said and Richard didn't even so much as give her a sign, he just smiled at her creepily as he ran his fingers through her hair.
She shook her head and continued reading. At last Beatrice was able to convince Nathaniel by telling him the man might be a child trafficker and Nathaniel was now on his way with a squad of sentinels to arrest the man.
Melissa exhaled and then cleared her throat. "So, Beatrice, does this mean I am not at risk of getting kidnapped by the vance pack?"she asked.
"Not quite," Beatrice said. "we were unable to make those two ee captured crack and that may be a significant sign that there is something they were hiding, or someone. So please we need you with your guards all the time and no wandering. For any hope, they take the bait and capture your doppelganger instead then we would easily be able to apprehend them."
Melissa nodded. "How will you be able to do that?" She asked.
"The girl's been embedded with three trackers. One is on her necklace, the other embedded under the base of her skin and the last one literally injected into her bloodstream," she said. "Though that one is risky, due to the fact that if it isn't removed in fifty six hours her blood becomes poisoned by the toxins in the tiny metals."
Melissa raised her eyes. "Isn't that cruel," Melissa asked.
"No my lady, she volunteered." Beatrice said and Melissa nodded.
They drove on as she flipped on Avalors report. Most of his reports were just boring. They were mostly about things he'd signed in the paperworks that she'd delegated to him. The last of the reports however contained vital information that Melissa would have known beforehand if she'd ever read the Castle's bulletin.
She'd been officially cleared by the Council to be the Luna of the Dunham pack, after all the scrutiny, they'd found no reason to withhold her anymore.
"How did it go?" She asked Avalors happily, passing the report ro Richard.
"Oh, you should have been there, it was Beatrice against Alina," Avalors said with a laugh and she could see Beatrice rolling her eyes.
"Oh." Avalors smiled. "She doesn't like me talking about it. It makes her feel iffy," he concluded.
"You scale it out of proportions,"Beareice complained. "That is why I don't like it when you speak about air," she said.
"You outdid yourself girl," Avalors said. "Take responsibility for your own actions," he added.
"You are an insufferable old man," Beatrice said calmly, she had this pouting face that Melissa remembered herself making whenever Dreykov was annoying her.
"I am not an old man though, still sexy for my age," Avalors said and made a gesture that made every other person in the bus including Richard scream. "Woah woah woah, stop that,"
Avalors laughed for a bit and then continued speaking. "Anyways, Beatrice seemed to have known all the ways that Alina would denounce your right to the throne and had prepared all the suitable answers," he said. "Alina stood no chance."
Richard smiled. "Beatrice," he called and the woman glanced back. "Wanna stop at a bar, so we take all the shots in your name," he said with a smile, purposely teasing her.
"No," she said. "No, no no," she said. "We are supposed to be hidden, remember?" She said and Richard giggled silently.
Melissa explained to the crew what she'd done and also told them what was in the flash drive. "Waoh, they didn't mention me at all," Avalors said.
Edica thought he was playing, but she sensed from his emotions that he was actually mildly disturbed by it. "They mentioned you in the book though,"she said.
A truth. While she had been reading the books, the woman had requested help from her mom that she could use, it was towards the last pages she read. Her mom had replied to that letter with. "When we are out of the way, help will come and his Beta will come too."
Avalors glanced back at Melissa when she said this. "Ah. Nice, so I was like a promise," he said, his emotions leveling. "Anyways, they valued my opinions and half of all they did centered around it, so that is caring enough," he said with a smile.
"I miss them though," he added later, making a sharp turn on the road, causing Melissa's heart to jump.
"I would like you to watch the video in the flash, it would remind you of them a bit," Richard said.
"Thanks man," Avalors replied and everyone went silent as they drove off.
The latter part of the journey was spent with them singing and screaming, and by the time they'd spent about seven hours, Beatrice and Melissa had fallen asleep and only Richard and Avalors remained awake as the car skidded past the evening sun driving into the night.
