Chapter 113 - LUNA'S BAGGAGE

There was a loud crash in the king's chambers followed by loud cussing "Damn you Thompson Springs Pack! I can't let them exist anymore." In the background was a video playing. The high-definition video had been captured and uploaded by Alison herself. She had captured every moment from when Mason drove to pick up the humans from the train station to the moment they laid their eyes on their loved ones. The dramatic background music only added to all the crying the video contained.

"I should have listened to Martin back then, now there is even more evidence out there." Yes, Martin had asked the king to get rid of Asher's pack after they had humiliated him, but he refused, saying that it would be as if he was admitting his guilt. He figured he was the one with enough power to wipe a pack off the surface of the earth and, should that happen to Thompson Springs, then everyone else would know of his involvement.

"Let us go to the dungeons again, I need to release some steam." The guard on duty couldn't help but shiver at the sight of the sinister smile on the king's face. All of them knew what he meant by releasing steam. He sent out a silent prayer to the moon goddess for his latest stress ball. He derived some sort of pleasure from torturing his enemies, but his latest victim was Dr. Hann. He took advantage of their super healing to inflict as much damage as possible. He only needed a day to let him heal a little bit before the process began all over again.

Dr. Hann could not believe that the place he went to seek asylum ended up being hell for him. The man he thought would have been his salvation ended up being the one that inflicted the most damage on him. The once haughty man was nowhere to be seen. Instead, what was left was a bag of bones. He had sunken cheeks, his body was covered in silver burns at several stages of healing, his head was full of bald spots, and his clothes, if they could still be called that were in tatters. Yes, he was still in the same designer clothes he had on when the guard had been ordered to throw him in. They only made sure he had to make him last until the next day.

No matter what the king did anymore, Dr. Hann barely reacted. It wasn't that he was not in pain, he had no energy to do anything. So many times he wished for death, but wishes were just that, they almost always never came true. "Pssst! Hey, do you want to get out here?" Dr. Hann was quietly recuperating in a corner of his confinement room when he heard a voice outside his cell. He was going to ignore it until the voice spoke again. "Are you waiting to die in here?"

It wasn't just the king that had watched the video, everyone saw it. How couldn't they? Almost everyone was waiting with bated breath to see what would happen after the arranged visit to Thompson Springs Pack. Some of them waited for the article to be proved fake. This group consisted mostly of the other packs. Another group consisted of families that hadn't believed Alison found their loved ones and therefore hadn't reached out. The truth is that Alison expected that more people would not believe her.

Call Alison heartless, but in the video, she included those that hadn't been visited by their family sitting dejectedly in their hospital rooms waiting. Their disappointment was as clear as day. It was the kids asking why they didn't have visitors like the rest that had so many people breaking down into tears. Alison ended up getting more calls requesting visits. All of which she declined. She reasoned that it would not be safe at the moment as the man that had been responsible for everything was still out there.

Her response started a chain reaction. Doubts had made them miss a chance of getting reunited with their long-lost daughters and sisters, and just as Alison had hoped, the blame fell on Dr. Hann. Dr. Hann's picture and information were uploaded for everyone to see. Thus, the hunt had officially begun. Anyone with information on him was encouraged to step out.

While the human side was getting heated, the werewolf side was starting to witness shifts in allegiances. It was a significant number, but around three to five alphas reached out to Asher just to confirm if what was shown in the video was the truth. Funny how they all banded together to condemn a whole pack without getting to the bottom of everything. The resounding slap on the face was too loud.

"Can I drive a bus through your pack sometime in the next three days?" What Alison had said in a fit of anger had stuck with Asher since that day. He hadn't stopped thinking about how to earn more support. There was a possibility that these women had mates out there and if those mates could somehow join 'Camp Asher'? His random question had been met with mixed reactions, and the answer he provided was fairly simple. "Don't you have pack members that haven't met their mates yet? What if they are among the women that got rescued?"

"Wouldn't it be dangerous? If everything is true, then leaving pack grounds isn't advisable, right?" This rare show of concern for humans was something Asher had already given up on ever witnessing. It was even more surprising because the Alphas actually sounded like they were considering his out-of-the-park idea.

"What do you mean if? I will repeat this for the millionth time. Everything I have shared with you guys is the truth. What do I gain from lying to you?" Asher was getting frustrated about the constant doubts, but he had to be patient. He was the one that needed their help after all. What was that saying about powerless people? "So, should I drive through or not?"

The alpha on the other side was quiet for a while before he said, "Instead of driving over, why don't you send a bunch of their clothes over." Asher was laughing before he could stop himself.

"Send clothes? What are we? Second-hand cloth sellers? Excuse me, but what do you suggest I should use as the reason when I go to ask them for one of the three dresses they each own? Hello, my friend wants you cl... no, my friends want to sniff your clothes. Do you mind giving me one? Are you planning on having me be called a pervert?" In the end, Asher broke into a coughing fit. Send their clothes over! What a ridiculous idea.

"I was only trying to be considerate." Name an Alpha who could stand being laughed at. It was already a miracle he wasn't growling at Asher over the phone. The good thing is that Asher knew when to stop.

"And I know that. Although your suggestion is good, it is unfortunately impossible under the current conditions. The best I can do is a drive-through." Way to make it sound like a fast food restaurant.

"How about this? What if I round up the few unmated males I have in my pack and then arrange for a visit? Wouldn't that be better?"

While two Alpha's agreed to a visit, at least two others said they would think it over and make a decision and one agreed on a drive-through. He had a lot of pack warriors with no mates. If he sent them over to Asher, then who would protect his pack?

Just like that, many more people found their mates. Asher had hoped for success but he didn't expect it to be this much. Things fell into Asher's plans just as he had predicted. "Those that haven't found their mates and are looking for them, try Thompson Springs Pack. Alpha Asher is quite welcoming."

At first, it was only a few people saying that, but gradually more and more people began to sing that same tune. More and more alphas were forced by their pack members to reach out to the one Alpha they had ostracized. Thompson Springs Pack became almost similar to a tourist attraction with people always coming in and out. Some left disappointed, some left happy, but the most common expression was 'it is complicated.'

It was indeed complicated, they had met their mates, but they could not bring them home, and neither could they acknowledge them yet. "It is not safe," Asher had said with a tone that allowed no room for argument. When others could not understand why Asher was so overly protective of humans, this group of people could not be any more appreciative of him. Asher had saved their mates. It was thanks to him that they had the opportunity to meet their mates in this lifetime.

While Asher made progress with getting other Alphas to support him, humans were getting close to uncovering the biggest secret of all.
