Chapter 181

Chapter 181
Sophia‘s POV:
"I said I don't want to be Luna anymore, Lucas. I want to completely sever all ties with you."I said firmly.
"Sophia, you can't—" Lucas stepped toward me, panic flooding his features.
"I reject you, Lucas, as my chosen mate," I declared, my voice carrying clearly across the silent ballroom. "I refuse to continue as Luna of Starlight Pack."
I announced in front of everyone.
Ryder stepped forward then, producing a leather folder from his jacket. "Since my sister has made her decision clear, I believe this will expedite matters."
He opened the folder, revealing official documents. "Divorce papers, already prepared and witnessed by the royal court."
Lucas stared at the papers in despair, his face going ashen as he read the formal legal language that would dissolve our marriage.
"I... I will not sign it," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
He looked up at me with eyes full of anguish. "Sophia, please. Don't let it end like this. We've come a long way with great effort."
His words came out in a desperate rush. "Everything you hate about me, everything that hurt you - I'll change it all. Please."
"Actually," I ignored his words and said calmly, "the divorce proceedings have been ongoing for three months now. These papers will take effect automatically whether you sign them or not. In this way, we will never have the possibility to meet again in our entire life."
I took the pen Ryder offered me, my hand surprisingly steady as I signed my name with decisive strokes.
Lucas watched in silence, his face draining of all color as each letter of my signature sealed our fate.
When I finished, he stared at the document for a long moment, his shoulders sagging.
Slowly, almost reluctantly, he reached for the pen with trembling fingers.
"Sophia..." he whispered one last time, his voice breaking.
When I didn't respond, he closed his eyes briefly, took a shuddering breath, and began to write.
Ryder then pulled out an ornate seal from his jacket. He pressed the seal firmly onto the documents, the deep red wax creating an unbreakable mark of finality.
The moment the seal touched the paper, I felt it - like a chain snapping inside my chest. The invisible bond that had connected Lucas and me for years suddenly shattered completely.
The warmth, the subtle awareness of his presence, the echo of his emotions - all of it vanished in an instant.
But instead of emptiness, instead of the hollow ache I expected, something else flooded through me.
A pull so intense, so right, that it nearly knocked me off my feet.
Amy suddenly perked up in my mind, her excitement electric. "Sophia! Look! Look toward the entrance!"
Almost against my will, my gaze was drawn across the ballroom to the grand entrance. And there, stood a man who made my breath catch—Michael Wilson.
Even at this distance, I could feel the magnetic pull between us, stronger than anything I'd ever experienced with Lucas.
"Mate," Amy whispered reverently. "Our fatedmate."
My heart hammered against my ribs as understanding crashed over me like a tidal wave.
So, my fatedmate is Micheal?
This was why I'd seen Michael's face during intimate moments with Lucas. The Moon Goddess had been trying to tell me all along.
Michael began moving through the crowd, his eyes never leaving mine. Conversations died as people recognized him, whispers following in his wake.
"Is that Michael Wilson?"
"The one who risked everything for the Moonlight Project?"
"I heard he's completely devoted to the Princess..."
Without even realizing it, I found myself taking a step toward Michael, drawn by an invisible force I couldn't resist.
But before I could take another step, Lucas's hand shot out and grabbed my wrist, his grip desperate and painful.
"Sophia, wait!" His voice was urgent, pleading. "If I send Aria away completely, will you give me another chance?"
I stared at him in disbelief, and suddenly I felt the urge to laugh. The absurdity of it all hit me like a wave.
"You think this is about Aria?" I said, my voice filled with bitter amusement. "Lucas, maybe you'll never grow up, and I don't want to grow up with you either."
Lucas's grip on my wrist tightened. "What exactly do you want me to do?"
I jerked away from him with disgust. "Don't touch me. You lost the chance."
But Lucas wouldn't give up.
That's when Michael reached us. He stepped between Lucas and me, his presence immediately commanding the attention of everyone nearby.
His voice was calm but carried an unmistakable edge of warning.
"Sophia has made herself clear," Michael said, his blue eyes fixed on Lucas with steady intensity. "You'd better not bother her anymore."
Lucas's face flushed with anger as he looked Michael up and down. "What gives you the right to interfere in our affairs? "
Michael's gaze softened as he turned to look at me, a silent question in his eyes.
I took a deep breath and stepped closer to Michael, my voice carrying clearly across the now-silent ballroom. "He is certainly qualified. Because Michael Wilson is my fated mate."
The words hit the ballroom like a thunderclap. Gasps erupted from every direction, and shocked whispers immediately began spreading through the crowd.
"Did she just say fated mate?"
"Michael Wilson... of course!"
"I support this moonlight plan cp!"
Lucas stared at me in complete shock, his face draining of all color. "That's... that's impossible," he stammered, shaking his head in denial. "You can't be serious. How could Michael be your fated mate?"
