Chapter 76 Through the Tunnels pt 3
Gideon
Curran came forth then, speaking through me. ‘Little one, I give you my solemn vow as your prince that we are here to help and will not hurt you.’
His deep, gravelly voice rolled over all the omegas, and they shivered in response. The one who spoke looked at me, eyes wide. “Th-thank you, Your Highness.”
We helped them cover the windows and barricade all but the omega access door in the back of the dining hall. Once Eric and I were sure that we had done everything we could for the moment, we exited the room to move on to the next. “You were good with the women back there,” I said.
He shrugged. “My father was an abusive ass. I have experience.”
This was news to me, and I filed it away for future reference. As we turned a corner, I heard shuffling and huffing. Someone was muttering under their breath. Another Blood Moon warrior. I placed my finger against my lips to signal quiet to Eric and snuck down the hall, slipping up behind the agitated guard. I quickly wrapped my arm around his neck, then jerked. There was a barely audible snap, and the guard went limp in my arms. I looked around and saw a closet off to the left. Dragging the body in there, I dropped him and stepped back out.
“Let’s go.”
Eric followed me, and we continued to clear the main level. Kitchen, ballroom, conference rooms. We sent several omegas to the dining hall via the servants’ entrance. We killed three more guards before we were done. As we circled back around to the Alpha’s office, we heard the unmistakable sounds of wolves fighting. Snarls, growls, a yelp. I took off at a run and slammed through the door to see Sebastian naked and wounded on the floor, with a large brown wolf standing over him. Saliva dripped from his fangs as he leaned over the injured warrior.
“I wouldn’t if I were you.” I sneered. The wolf snapped his head up, looking in my direction, a snarl on his snout. He growled, stepped over Sebastian, and started advancing on me. A wolf fight in this small space wasn’t ideal, but if it’s what he wanted, then it’s what he’d get.
Curran sensed my intention and seized control, our shift seamless and almost instantaneous as the other wolf leaped at me. We clashed mid-air, a tangle of limbs, snapping and snarling at each other. The brown wolf aimed for my throat, but I twisted and managed to get a bite of his ear before we hit the ground with a thud. I was barely aware of Eric pulling Sebastian out of the room. The brown wolf and I crouched down, circling each other, before he came at me again. This time, he aimed for my legs, trying to get one captured in his jaws. He managed a nip, but I was quicker and spun away from him. What would have been a broken leg turned into a simple laceration. I growled.
He continued to circle me, occasionally snapping at me, until he tripped over a piece of the decimated desk. I took advantage of the opportunity and leaped over him, grabbing his scruff and pulling him down to the ground. Straddling him, growling around the mouthful of fur clamped in my jaw, I shook him, trying to force him to submit. After a minute or two of struggling, he finally turned his head and acknowledged defeat. I released him and stepped back, then shifted.
“Shift. Now.”
The brown wolf changed into a naked, worn older man. I recognized him instantly.
“You’re done, Beta George. This pack is now under Royal authority.”
