Chapter 78
I set the stick on the shelf that was in there and got out another stick. I peed on that one and the others as well. Oddly, I had enough pee to go round.
“Are you almost done?” Monroe asked.
“I’ve only done five tests.” I responded.
“Only five?” He asked sarcastically.
“Just one more.” I said, opening another pee stick.
Not going to lie, it was lowkey fun trying out the pregnancy test kits for the first time. I peed on the stick and set it down by the others.
“How will I know if I am?” I asked, wiping myself down. Again, it was my first time and I was in a hurry so I didn't know anything.
“The pink plus sign.”
I pulled my pants up and opened the door after flushing. I walked out and washed my hands before drying them off.
Monroe walked into the stall and looked at them, “Why isn’t it showing anything?”
"I don’t know." I read the box, "It says to wait for three minutes.” I shrugged, standing beside him.
He nodded and rubbed his eye.
“Is someone tired?” I teased, pinching his cheek.
He growled, “Yes, I am– Oh, look at the pink plus sign.”
I pushed him out of the way and looked at all the tests. Some of them were just turning pink but they were definitely positive. All of them.
I started hyperventilating again, “Oh my goodness. Is it just me or is it hot in here?”
Monroe set his hands on my shoulder, “It’s not that bad, if you think about it. You’re a mom. Be happy.”
I thought about it and then whimpered, “I’m young.”
“You’re 18 years old. You’re not that young.” He rolled his eyes, “Now, clean up those pee sticks so we can go home.”
I threw all the sticks away and sulked out of the bathroom.
I couldn't believe it. I was pregnant. I used to think I would be at least twenty three years old before I get pregnant and have my own child because I would be able to handle responsibility properly by then but apparently not.
Life.
I got in the room and sighed tiredly. I heard shuffling while I took off my shoes but I didn't put my mind to it because I didn't give a shit.
"Where did you go?" The voice was soft and quiet but I still had a jumpscare.
"Oh my God, you scared me!" I sighed to gather myself, "Where have I been? Huh? Oh, I went for a stroll."
I knew he didn't buy my lie, his eyes gave it off that he didn't believe me. I wouldn't believe me either. But he nodded respectfully.
I laid down and gave him a small warm smile because he looked worried. Then I couldn't face him anymore so I turned to the wall instead. I felt him move before wrapping his arm around my waist.
I scooted into him and leaned my head against his chest. I felt him kiss the back of my head but I could feel his heartbeats so I knew he was definitely not sleeping.
Neither was I.
“What are you thinking about?” He whispered.
“Life.” I shrugged and turned to face him.
He nodded and set his head on top of mine. He inhaled slowly and I just knew he was basking in my scent. I sighed and lazied into him as he pulled me closer.
I didn't know when I fell asleep.
My eyes slowly opened as I realized that Kaden was no longer in bed with me. I sat up and looked at the clock. 8:34am. I rubbed my eyes and laid back down, hugging his pillow.
What if he doesn’t want the baby? Or doesn’t want to be a dad? Would he still love me even when I’m all fat and stuff?
I got up and slowly walked down the stairs. Kaden was in the kitchen, slowly sipping his steaming hot coffee.
“Good morning.” He smiled.
“Good morning.” I smiled back slightly.
I opened the fridge and grabbed an orange juice. I sat down at the table and lay my head on it.
“Is there something wrong? Are you okay?” Kaden arched a brow in suspicion.
I shook my head, “Nope. Where’s everybody?”
“Asleep. Lazy people.” He grumbled the last part, chuckling softly.
I laughed and took another gulp of my juice. The front door opened and Kaden’s laugh sounded through the house.
Monroe, Kaden, Jacob, and Denver walked into the kitchen, grinning. Monroe’s eyes met mine and his grin widened. I gave him a weird look. Overall, I was happy he was hanging out with them again.
Kaden wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, “Morning, baby.”
“Morning.” I smiled and tilted my head to kiss him but being the short person I am, I kissed his jaw
He chuckled and pecked my lips, “Shortie.”
I glared at him, “Shut up.”
I pulled away from him and went over to the cabinet. Standing on my tip-toes, I grabbed the peanut butter from the third shelf. I set it on the counter before opening the fridge to get the jelly.
“Who wants one?” I asked.
“Me!” Monroe screamed, waving his arm in the air frantically.
“I do.” Kaden, Jacob, Gabe, and Kaden all say.
“Monroe, come help me.” I ordered.
He groaned, “Why me?”
“Fine. Sexy accent.” I shrugged, grabbing the bread.
He huffed, “Fine! But only because I had my OJ. Don’t go getting any ideas, woman.”
I looked at him in shock, “That’s the most words I have ever heard you say.”
“OJ!” He sang, grabbing two knives from the drawer.
My brows raised in amusement, “Mmkay.”
He handed me a knife, still singing ‘OJ!’. I opened the peanut butter as he opened the jelly.
“How many do you guys want?” I asked randomly.
“Six!” Monroe grinned.
“No.” I said flatly, “Two each.”
He fake cried, “Why do you hate me?”
Ignoring him, I spread the peanut butter onto the slice of bread before handing it to Gabe.
He slammed the jelly bread and the peanut butter bread together, “Done!”
I stare at him, “You’re weird…I like you even more, now!” He grinned and his eyes widened as he skipped away.
“What about the sandwiches?!” I yelled at him.
“Do them yourself!” He sang from down the hall.
I glared at the jelly knife Denver used, “Douche.”
“Hey, now, don’t be mean to the knife.” Stephen laughed as he grabbed it and started spreading jelly on Gabe’s unfinished bread.
Jacob and I finished the sandwiches and gave them to Kaden and Kaden. Denver came running in, grabbed two sandwiches, then ran out. Wow.
Jasmine came into the kitchen and glared at Kaden, “Who gave him orange juice?”
Kaden raised his hands in the air, “Not me.”
She rolled her eyes and opened the fridge. Jasmine growled and held up the bottles of orange juice.
“Everyone knows orange juice is banned from this house when Denver is here.” She sighed and put them back. She walked over to Kaden and snatched his sandwich from his hand, took a bite, smiled, and walked out.
“My sandwich.” Kaden whimpered.
I laughed, “You have another one.”
“Oh, yeah.” He grinned and picked it up.
I shook my head and bit into the deliciousness, “Mmmm, good.”
Monroe looked at me and grinned before looking away. What the hell is this kid's problem?
My eyes narrowed and I bit into my sandwich, all the while staring at Monroe. He looked at me from the corner of his eyes and shuddered,
“What?”
I shrugged, “What, what?”
“Huh?” He frowned.
“I don’t even know, Dude.”
He laughed and got up, walking to the fridge. I felt eyes on me so I turned to them. Kaden was grinning at me. What’s with all the grins?
“What’s with the grin, people?” I looked around to see everyone grinning but Kaden just looked confused.
“Nothing.” Monroe chirped excitedly.
My brows furrowed and I shrugged, “Whatever.”
They just kept on grinning and I looked at them cautiously.
“What’s going on?” Kaden asked, utterly confused.
“I don’t know.” I said slowly as I looked over Monroe, Jacob, and Kaden’s faces.
“Okay, okay, we’re going on a date. An actual date this time.” Kaden’s grin widened.
I arched a brow and pursed my lips, “Then why is everybody grinning? Why would Stephen and Monroe be happy about us going on a date?”
He tilted his head to the right, trying to figure out a good enough lie. “Because, it’s special.”
I nodded, “Mmkay.”
Kaden’s eyes widened, “Mmkay.”
I looked at him strangely before finishing my sandwiches, quickly. Their grins were starting to freak me out. I stood up and slowly walked out of the kitchen and up to the room.
I took a quick shower and got out. I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around my body. A squeak of surprise escaped me when I noticed Monroe in the room.
“Oops.” He blushed and covered his eyes.
I glared at him and walked over to Kaden’s dresser, I grabbed a pair of basketball shorts, a t-shirt, and underwear from my suitcase.
I quickly changed, “What do you want?”
He slowly uncovered his eyes, cheeks still slightly pink. “How’s it going?”
I shrugged, “Good, I guess.”
“When are you going to tell him?” He grinned.
I shrugged again, “When it’s the right time.”
“When is that going to be?” He narrowed his eyes.
