Such a smart move!

Edwina wandered in her mind, her lips twisting in anger. She met plenty of women like Kira in the past. It wasn't like Kira was interested in becoming a queen. She was just unreasonably jealous that Edwina had become so close with the king despite being lower than her in status.

But it wasn't easy to deceive a pack's Alpha. Playing tricks was Edwina's favorite thing. Without showing any sign of fear, Edwina curled her lips up into a creepy smile, taunting her back arrogantly,
" Oh really? Then you must have heard how the king fucked me there. I am sorry. He couldn't resist it."

Kira's face flustered in shame first then replaced with anger after being defeated by words. In reality, Kira didn't see the man's back clearly when he entered the bathroom. So upon Edwina's confession, Kira assumed that she saw King Hades following Edwina into the ladies' washroom.

Wait..was he that passionate about her?

Kira gritted her teeth jealously. Just to show off her powers a bit, she had to dance with Hades. Here, he followed Edwina like a bee everywhere. Kira snorted, glaring down at Edwina's smirking face,
" Please watch your actions then. Some might think that you two are in love."

Edwina's heart began to flutter speedily at her remark. They just broke their first rule in the bathroom. Mistresses shouldn't kiss the master but they do it willingly and more importantly passionately. Regaining her casual composure, Edwina muttered, taking her leave as she wasn't interested in fighting anymore,
" You should tell this to the king then."

He kissed her back eagerly. Even he initiated the sex first. It was all his fault in her mind. Despite her repeated accusations in her mind, her heart knew the truth. It was different from what they had intimated in Red Darkling.

Kira stared at her retreating, hatred flashing from her eyes. She muttered to herself, hoping that Hades would kick her out soon,
" If this bitch becomes the queen, Hades will never take interest in other women. Hmph!"

" What took you so long?", came the cold voice from Hades, a little suspicion hinting from his eyes. He was so engrossed in talking with Radolf that he forgot to notice that she was missing behind.

Edwina parted her lips to speak but Arrax teased, raising the glass to his lips,
" Easy, dude! She ain't going anywhere. Besides, I don't think that she is the only reason behind her delay."

Hades shot him a glare then returned to speak to Radolf who was a cold block like ice. Looking at Radolf's face, Edwina wondered whether he ever smiled or not. Arrax went beside Edwina to accompany her, all the time a grin appeared on his face. Lowering his voice, he teased Edwina more,
" You look freshly fucked! Adjust your mood quickly!"

Edwina's cheeks turned red in shyness. After joining this Gala, she understood that Arrax was an easygoing person despite his playful character.

" Drink?", Arrax offered her politely, his eyes searching for someone in the distance. Edwina was thankful for the drink. After she drank, her mood was a lot better. At least, the uneasiness of her body began to wash away slowly.

From the center of the stage, the host of Moon Gala announced gladly, clapping to turn everyone's attention to him,
" Let's head for the last dance everyone! Only the official couples were allowed this time!"

It meant that only the mated couple or married couple was allowed to perform this time. As the Moon Gala was held in several events, this segment was part of it.

A flash of disappointment appeared in Edwina's eyes. Subconsciously, she expected a dance from Hades. Since it was the last segment only for official couples, they had no chance of dancing anymore. Her eyes occasionally fell on Hades who was discussing state affairs with Radolf. When she saw that he had no intention of asking for her hand, she forced herself to look away, hiding the unknown pain through her drink.

Radolf Dimitri Underwood was a very observant man. Though he spoke less, nothing didn't miss his attention. He spoke very calmly, interrupting Hades's serious conversation about the state,

" Don't you think that you should ask her for a dance?"

Haded was stunned momentarily then whipped his head back to take a glance at Edwina's expression. She looked a little down. His hesitation appeared once again since it was available for official couples only. If he took her on the dance floor now, everyone was going to regard her as the future queen.

Hades murmured after a long sigh,
" But she isn't..my mate..or anything.."

A small smile grew from the corner of Radolf's lips. Tapping on Hades's shoulder, he spoke while taking a small sip from his wine,
" When life gives you a second chance, you should enjoy it, now & here."

Radolf disappeared from his sight, already seeing through Hades's mind to give him better space. Hades swallowed hard, his eyes looking back at Edwina who was forced to smile.

The bright lights all disappeared behind them, making a semi-dark environment for the couple to share a passionate moment. The faces were all visible yet invisible. Their eyes locked from a distance, and no words were exchanged as if they both knew what they wanted.

Arrax helped to take their final move. He pushed Edwina so hard from his side that she fell straight on Hades's chest. Her hand landed on his heart straight beat so violently, even she could hear. Hades murmured gently, taking her by his arms,
" I think..we should dance... Alpha Edwina.."

" They.. might.. misunderstand us..Your Highness..", Edwina stuttered nervously, her grip on his shoulders turned clumsy.

The audience was all shocked after Hades took her to the dance floor. Most of the women shot her envious glares, especially Kira. Hades didn't care about anything anymore. She looked more breathtaking under the neo-lights.

He growled, pressing her closer by the waist,
" Let them see. Who cares?"

Edwina wanted to say that she cared so much. She had her mate already. It was forbidden to be intimate with the king. It was also disgraceful to act like his mate in front of the public.

But she couldn't say anything. Once she looked into his sincere eyes, she lost all her words. He treated her much more gently today. If her ears weren't buzzing, she felt a hint of admiration from his tone when he called her 'Alpha Edwina'.

The piano music started beating in the background. They matched the rhythm slowly, taking cautious steps because of her dress. Their faces were only inches apart from each other. Staring at her flustered expression, he muttered squeezing her waist gently,
" How should I punish you for breaking our rules?"

Edwina was amused by his teasing tone. She understood that he was teasing her only. She teased back, liking the comfort zone between them,
" Then who will punish the king for breaking the rules? I wasn't the only one."

Hades's lips curled up into a smile. She became bold to his expectations. He turned her back vigorously and held her from behind to brush her fingers over her perky nipples. It turned hard just from his light touches.

Edwina sucked in a deep breath. His touch always managed to awaken her nerves. She felt his presence behind, powerful yet seductive. Hades on the other hand, was so close to losing himself. He never noticed that adorable look on her face. The way, her face flustered, her red cheeks and hot air emitting from her skin.

Why didn't he notice that she was so beautiful?

He gulped hard and lifted his head down to smell her. It was intoxicating, so addicted that he couldn't help but run his nose into the column of her neck. Hades's mouth watered at the sight of her skin. His lips parted to kiss her neck but Edwina drew a low moan when his nose touched her skin. In their heat of pleasure, Hades forgot his rational thoughts. Along with his mouth, his canines popped out, slightly brushing past her skin.

Edwina kept closing her eyes until she felt his canines, poking at her skin. Despite her wondering, she couldn't say anything. All she could do was grip the hem of her clothes and wonder what he was doing.
