Chapter 220 Girls' Night Processing
POV: Luna
That night, my friends staged an intervention.
I returned to my dorm room after patrol to find them all there waiting for me. Nova. Sienna. Aria. Lyric. All looking determined and concerned in equal measure.
"We need to talk," Nova said, closing the door behind me. "About the elephant in the room."
"There's no elephant," I tried.
"There's a whole herd," Aria corrected. "And we're not leaving until we discuss them."
I sat on my bed, realizing resistance was futile. When my pack decided to have a conversation, it happened whether I wanted it to or not.
"Okay," I said. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Caleb," Sienna said gently. "Your feelings for him. Your confusion. Your guilt. All of it."
"I told you already. He's Miguel. I'm certain."
"We know," Nova said. "We've all seen it. The way he moves. The way he fights. The way he looks at you. But that's not what we're here to discuss. We want to talk about how you feel. How you're handling it. How you're managing loving two people simultaneously."
I looked down at my hands, unable to meet their eyes. The guilt was overwhelming, crushing, impossible to articulate.
"I love Liam," I said quietly. "Completely. Absolutely. He's my mate. My bond. My choice. Nothing about Caleb changes that."
"But?" Lyric prompted.
"But Caleb feels like coming home. Like finding something I didn't know I'd lost. Like breathing after holding my breath for years. I can't explain it better than that."
"You don't have to explain," Sienna said. "We understand. Or we're trying to. Soul recognition is different than mate bonds. Deeper. More primal. More confusing."
"I feel guilty," I admitted. "Guilty for wanting both. Guilty for loving Liam while being drawn to Caleb. Guilty for not being satisfied with one perfect mate when most wolves never find any."
"That's not guilt," Aria said firmly. "That's conditioning. Society tells us one mate is enough. One bond is complete. One love is sufficient. But what if that's not true for everyone? What if some wolves are designed differently?"
"Your magical signature changes when you're near Caleb," Sienna observed. "I've been monitoring. Documenting. Analyzing. When he's close, your Eclipse power resonates differently. Harmonizes. Like two frequencies aligning perfectly."
"What does that mean?"
"It means you're connected. Magically. Energetically. Beyond normal bonds. Beyond typical relationships. Something the goddess designed. Something rare. Something special."
"I found something," Lyric said, pulling out her laptop. "Research. Ancient texts. Historical documentation. About dual mate bonds."
"Dual mate bonds?" I repeated.
"It's rare but not impossible. Some wolves are designed by the goddess to have two true mates. Not sequential. Simultaneous. Both legitimate. Both fated. Both necessary."
She showed me the research on her screen. Documented cases throughout history. Wolves with multiple mates. Multiple bonds. Multiple loves.
"Why?" I asked. "Why would the goddess design some wolves this way?"
"Purpose," Sienna said. "Destiny. Balance. The texts suggest dual mate bonds appear when the wolf's purpose requires multiple perspectives. Multiple strengths. Multiple connections. Usually in wolves who will face impossible challenges. Lead great movements. Change fundamental realities."
"That sounds like you," Nova said. "Eclipse wolf. Goddess-blessed. Prophecy-bound. Facing architects. Defeating conspiracies. Changing everything. Of course you'd need multiple mates. Multiple supports. Multiple loves."
"But it feels selfish," I protested. "Greedy. Wrong. Wanting both when most people struggle to find one."
"It's not selfish if it's your design," Aria argued. "You didn't choose this. Didn't manipulate. Didn't orchestrate. The goddess designed you this way. Gave you these bonds. Created these connections. You're just experiencing what she ordained."
"Does Liam know? About dual mate bonds? About the possibility?"
"He suspects," Lyric said. "The prophecy mentioned two souls as mates. He's been researching too. Trying to understand. Trying to accept."
"And how does he feel?"
"Scared. Threatened. But willing. Because he loves you. Because he trusts the goddess. Because he'd rather share you than lose you completely."
Through the pack bonds, I felt their absolute support. Their understanding. Their refusal to judge or condemn my complicated heart.
"What do I do?" I asked. "How do I navigate this? How do I love two people without destroying everything?"
"You communicate," Nova said. "Honestly. Openly. With both of them. You establish boundaries. Expectations. Understandings. You don't hide. Don't minimize. Don't pretend it's simpler than it is."
"You trust the goddess," Sienna added. "Trust that she designed you for this. Trust that the bonds will work. Trust that love expands rather than divides."
"You give yourself permission," Aria said gently. "Permission to love both. Permission to need both. Permission to be designed differently than others. You stop feeling guilty for being exactly what the goddess created you to be."
"That's easier said than done."
"Everything worth doing is," Lyric replied. "But you're strong enough. Brave enough. Goddess-blessed enough. You'll figure it out. We'll help you figure it out."
We talked for hours. Processing. Analyzing. Understanding. They asked questions. I answered honestly. We cried. We laughed. We bonded deeper than ever before.
"There's one more thing," Sienna said hesitantly. "About Caleb. About his identity. About when he'll reveal."
"What about it?"
"I think it's soon. Very soon. His magical signature is changing. Solidifying. Like he's preparing for transformation. For revelation. For becoming fully himself instead of hiding."
"How soon?"
"Days. Maybe hours. Something's shifting. Building. Preparing. When Cole returns. When the final battle begins. I think that's when Caleb reveals. When he can't hide anymore. When circumstances force truth."
"I'm terrified," I admitted. "Terrified of the revelation. Terrified of what it means. Terrified of navigating the aftermath."
"We know," Nova said. "But you're not alone. You have us. You have Liam. You have Caleb. You have your pack. Whatever happens, we face it together."
"Together," I repeated. "Always together."
Through the pack bonds, we shared love. Support. Absolute loyalty. They were my family. My foundation. My certainty in a world of impossibilities.
Then someone knocked. Urgent. Insistent. Panicked.
I opened the door to find Selene standing there, looking shocked and amazed and terrified all at once.
"Luna," she gasped. "You need to see this. Right now. Caleb just did something impossible."
"What kind of impossible?"
"The kind that proves everything. The kind that confirms what we all suspect. The kind that changes everything forever."
We ran. Following Selene. Heading toward the training grounds where Caleb apparently was.
My heart pounded with anticipation, fear, and certainty. This was it. The moment. The revelation. The truth.
Whatever Caleb had done, it was going to confirm everything I already knew deep in my soul.
Miguel was back. And nothing would ever be the same.
