Chapter 190 Princess Protected
POV: Luna
"Let her go, Cole," I said as calmly as I could manage.
"Why would I do that? She's exactly what I need. Royal bloodline. Divine connection. The perfect catalyst."
"For what?"
"For the spell your grandmother tried. Breaking the seal using royal and Eclipse power combined. She failed because she didn't have both. I do."
He was right. With Selene and my stolen power, he could complete the ritual.
"You'll kill her," I said. "The spell requires sacrifice. Total dissolution of the royal essence."
"I know. But necessary sacrifices for necessary change."
Through the Guardian Bond, I felt Selene's terror. Her desperation.
But also her determination. Her refusal to give up.
Luna, she said through our bond. I have an idea. But you have to trust me.
Always.
When I give the signal, attack. Full power. Don't hold back.
That'll hit you too!
I know. But I can handle it. Just trust me.
Through the bond, I felt her certainty. Her plan. Her readiness.
"Okay," I said to Cole. "You win. Take her. Take my power. Do what you want. Just let everyone else go."
"Luna, no!" Liam protested.
"It's over, Liam. He won. We lost."
Through the mate bond, I showed him Selene's plan. His understanding. His agreement.
"Fine," he said aloud. "We surrender. You win."
Cole smiled. "I knew you'd see reason eventually. Your loyalty. Your love. It's your weakness. And I exploited it perfectly."
He started chanting. Beginning the ritual. Drawing power from Selene. From my mark. From everything.
Then Selene struck.
She'd been gathering power secretly. Through the Guardian Bond. Drawing on my Eclipse energy. Building. Waiting.
Now she released it. Pure royal magic. Amplified by Eclipse power. Exploding outward.
The blast hit Cole directly. Threw him backward. Broke his concentration.
"Now!" Selene shouted.
Liam and I attacked. Full power. Everything we had.
Eclipse and Alpha combined. Mate bond synchronized. Perfect coordination.
We hit Cole with devastating force. Disrupted his spell. Shattered his artifacts. Destroyed his equipment.
My friends joined in. All of us attacking together. Unified. Overwhelming.
Cole tried to fight back. But he was outnumbered. Outmatched. Outplayed.
"No!" he screamed. "This isn't how it ends! I planned everything! Prepared everything!"
"You forgot one thing," I said. "We're not predictable. Not anymore. We've grown. Evolved. Become something you can't control."
"I can still—"
Selene cut him off. She manifested her hybrid form. Wolf-magical fusion. Blazing with power.
And she channeled pure magical energy. Royal essence. Divine connection. Everything her bloodline represented.
It washed over Cole. Purifying. Cleansing. Burning away dark magic.
He screamed. Unable to withstand it. Unable to defend.
When the light faded, he was powerless. Again. Defeated. Broken.
"It's over," Liam said.
Security moved in. Took Cole into custody. This time, real custody. Magical suppression. Isolation. No escape.
And Alpha Reed. Alpha Reed tried to run.
But faculty caught him. Arrested him. Finally exposed.
The battle was over. The war was won.
For now.
"Everyone okay?" I asked through the pack bonds.
A chorus of exhausted but affirmative responses.
We'd survived. Again. Barely.
"Selene," I said. "That was incredible. Dangerous. But incredible."
"I learned from the best," she replied. Through the Guardian Bond, I felt her gratitude. Her pride. Her absolute trust.
"We need to stabilize the wards," Sienna said. "Cole's attacks weakened them. They need reinforcement."
"Liam, can you coordinate?" I asked.
"On it. Everyone who can cast! Form work groups! We're rebuilding defenses! Now!"
Students and faculty mobilized. Working together. Coordinating.
It was beautiful. After so much chaos. So much division. Finally, unity.
I helped where I could. But I was exhausted. The drain from my mark. The battle. Everything.
"You need rest," the Headmaster said.
"I need to help."
"You've helped enough. Let others take over. You've earned rest."
He was right.
I found a quiet corner. Sat down. Just breathed.
Liam found me within minutes. Sat beside me.
"We did it," he said.
"For now. Cole's captured. Alpha Reed's exposed. But the architects are still out there. The conspiracy continues."
"Let it continue tomorrow. Tonight, we rest."
"Is that allowed? Just resting? When there's always more to do?"
"It's necessary. Humans need rest. Wolves need rest. Even Eclipse wolves."
"I'm tired, Liam. So tired. Of fighting. Of surviving. Of always being one step behind."
"But this time, we weren't. This time, we won. Decisively. Completely. That's progress."
He was right.
Through the mate bond, we shared strength. Comfort. Love.
"I couldn't have done this without you," I said.
"You could have. But I'm glad you didn't have to."
"What happens now? After all this?"
"We live. We grow. We prepare for whatever comes next. Together."
"Together. I like the sound of that."
"Me too."
We sat in comfortable silence. Watching students rebuild. Watching Silverwood recover.
The school was damaged. Scarred. But still standing.
Just like us.
Then I felt it. Through the connection in my mark. One final pulse.
And Cole's voice. Distant. Fading. But clear.
This isn't over, Luna. Not by a long shot. I'm just one piece. One soldier. The architects will send others. Stronger. Smarter. More prepared. And eventually, they'll win. Because they always do.
Then the connection severed. Finally. Completely.
Cole's influence. Gone.
"Did you hear that?" I asked Liam.
"Through the mate bond. Yes. Cole's final warning."
"Do you think he's right? That they'll send others?"
"Probably. But we'll be ready. We always are."
"And if we're not? If we finally lose?"
"Then we lose together. Fighting. Refusing to give up. That's all we can do."
"That's all we can do," I repeated. "Fight. Survive. Protect each other."
"Exactly."
The sun rose. New day. New beginning.
Cole was captured. Alpha Reed exposed. The immediate threat neutralized.
But the war. The war was far from over.
And somewhere out there, the architects were planning.
Building. Preparing. Waiting.
For the next round.
The next battle.
The next attempt to break the seal. To reshape reality. To destroy everything.
But we'd be ready.
Because that's what we did.
We survived. We adapted. We grew.
And we never gave up.
Not now. Not ever.
