Chapter 130 Season Finale – Moonlight Confrontation
POV: Luna
The cleanup took hours.
Students worked to repair damage. Faculty reinforced wards. Healers tended to the injured.
Cassandra's Circle was taken into custody. Real custody this time, with magical suppressors that couldn't be broken.
As the sun set, the Headmaster called an assembly.
The entire student body gathered in the courtyard, battered but standing.
"Today, we faced a threat unlike any in recent history," the Headmaster began. "A dark mage seeking to break the seal between worlds. An attack that could have destroyed not just Silverwood, but reality itself."
Murmurs rippled through the crowd.
"But we survived. Thanks to the courage and sacrifice of our students. Particularly one student and her pack."
He gestured to me and my friends.
Everyone turned to look at us. Some expressions were grateful. Others scared. A few resentful.
"Luna Eclipse and her bonded pack stood against overwhelming odds. They protected this Academy. Protected all of you. And they succeeded."
Applause started. Hesitant at first, then building.
It felt weird. Wrong almost.
We'd just done what needed to be done. Nothing heroic about it.
But I smiled and accepted the recognition. For my pack's sake.
After the assembly, we retreated to our dorm.
Everyone was exhausted. Emotionally and physically drained.
"I can't believe it's over," Nova said.
"It's not over," I replied. "Malachar's still out there. Powerless, but alive. And there will be others like him."
"Way to kill the mood," Lyric said.
"I'm just being realistic."
"Can we be realistic tomorrow?" Aria asked. "Tonight, I just want to celebrate being alive."
She had a point.
We spent the evening together. No training. No planning. Just existing as friends.
Eventually, everyone drifted off to their own rooms.
Except Cole. Again.
"You know people are going to talk if you keep staying over," I said.
"Let them talk. I'm exactly where I want to be."
We lay on my bed, exhausted but content.
"What happens now?" Cole asked. "After tonight?"
"We train. We prepare. We wait for the next threat."
"That sounds depressing."
"That's our life now."
"It doesn't have to be all darkness and doom." He pulled me closer. "We can have moments like this too. Quiet. Peaceful. Normal."
"Normal's overrated."
"Maybe. But I'll take boring and normal over life-threatening and chaotic any day."
I laughed. "Liar. You love the chaos."
"I love you. The chaos just comes with the territory."
We fell asleep like that, wrapped in each other.
I woke hours later to moonlight streaming through the window.
The full moon. It had arrived.
I slipped out of bed carefully, not wanting to wake Cole.
Outside, the campus was quiet. Peaceful under the moon's glow.
I walked to the Moon Circle, that sacred space where so much had happened.
My mark pulsed gently, responding to the moon's pull.
I sat in the center of the circle and closed my eyes.
The otherworld materialized around me. Not fully. Just a shimmer. An overlay.
Miguel was there. Barely visible. Almost gone.
"Hey," I said softly.
"Hey yourself. Couldn't sleep?"
"Too much on my mind."
"Like what?"
"The future. What comes next. How to be the person everyone needs me to be."
"You're already that person, Luna. You have been for a while."
"It doesn't feel like it."
"It never does." He sat beside me, his form flickering. "But you're ready. For whatever comes next."
"Am I though? I barely survived Malachar. What happens when something worse shows up?"
"You'll survive that too. Because you're not alone anymore. You have your pack. Your anchors. Cole."
"Speaking of Cole—"
"I approve. Completely." Miguel smiled. "He's good for you. Keeps you grounded."
"I wish you could have met him. Really met him."
"I kind of have. Through you. Through the bond." Miguel's form started to fade. "It's time for me to go. Really go this time."
Panic seized my chest. "Wait. I'm not ready."
"You are. You've been ready for months. You just didn't want to admit it."
"Miguel, please—"
"I love you, Luna. I always will. But my part in your story is over. And that's okay."
"It's not okay. I need you."
"No. You don't." He touched my mark one last time, his hand barely substantial. "You have everything you need right here. In this pack. In this life. In yourself."
Tears streamed down my face. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm just changing form. Becoming part of your power completely. No more separate essence. Just strength when you need it."
"That's not the same."
"No. But it's beautiful in its own way."
He leaned forward and kissed my forehead. I barely felt it.
Then he was gone.
Completely. Utterly. Finally.
I sat in the Moon Circle and cried. For Miguel. For everything we'd lost. For the future we'd never have.
But also for the future I would have. With Cole. With my pack. With this complicated, dangerous, beautiful life I'd been given.
When the tears finally stopped, I felt different. Lighter somehow.
Miguel's essence was still in my mark. But it was fully integrated now. Part of my power. Not a separate entity anymore.
It felt right.
I stood and looked at the moon.
"I'm ready," I whispered. "For whatever comes next."
My mark pulsed in agreement.
Through the pack bonds, I felt my friends sleeping peacefully. Safe. Alive. Together.
This was my pack. My family. My purpose.
And whatever threats came next, we'd face them together.
I walked back to the dorm, feeling more certain than I had in months.
Cole was awake when I got back, waiting.
"Where did you go?" he asked.
"To say goodbye."
"To Miguel?"
"Yeah."
"And?"
"And I'm ready to move forward. With you. With all of this."
He pulled me into his arms. "Good. Because I'm not going anywhere."
We climbed back into bed, holding each other as the moonlight faded and dawn approached.
Tomorrow would bring new challenges. New threats. New dangers.
But tonight, we had this.
Peace. Safety. Love.
And for now, that was enough.
I closed my eyes and let sleep take me, knowing that whatever came next, I wouldn't face it alone.
My pack was with me.
And together, we were unstoppable.
