Chapter 115 Otherworld Guidance

Chapter 115 Otherworld Guidance
POV: Luna
That night, despite exhaustion, I can't sleep.
The dark magic residue makes rest impossible. My channels burning. My mark throbbing.
So instead, I meditate. Trying to cleanse myself internally. Prepare for tomorrow.
And I slip into the otherworld. Not intentionally. Just from exhaustion and need.
Miguel is there immediately. Concern written across his translucent face.
"Luna, what happened? Your energy is corrupted. Tainted with dark magic."
"Cassandra's Circle. They cursed me. Cole broke it, but residue remains."
"And you're supposed to fight tomorrow in this condition?"
"I don't have a choice."
"You always have a choice. You could sit out. Let others handle it."
"And watch my pack fight without me? Never."
Miguel sighs. But there's pride in his eyes. "Stubborn. Brave. Stupid. All the things I love about you."
"Loved. Past tense."
"Love. Present tense. Death doesn't change that."
The goddess appears. More solid than usual. Almost fully manifested.
"Daughter of Eclipse. You face your trial tomorrow. Trial of power. Everything we've discussed. Everything you've prepared for. It comes tomorrow during the attack."
"That's perfect timing," I say sarcastically. "Fight an overwhelming force while undergoing a spiritual trial."
"The trials are never convenient. They come when you need them most. Even when it feels like the worst possible moment."
"What exactly is the trial? What do I have to do?"
"You'll be offered ultimate power. In exchange for corruption. The shadow caller will make his final pitch. Show you everything you could have if you just accept darkness."
"I'll refuse. Obviously."
"Will you? When refusing means watching people you love die? When choosing light means certain defeat? When corruption is the only path to victory?"
"There's always another path."
"Not always. Sometimes, the choice is between bad and worse. Between corruption and death. Between power and principle." The goddess's expression is serious. "That's what makes it a trial. No good options. Only impossible choices."
"So what do I do?"
"You trust yourself. Trust that who you are is enough. Even when it feels like it's not." She moves closer. "Luna, your power is key to tomorrow's confrontation. Not just for fighting. For something more important."
"What?"
"The rune network. The one powering the enhanced creatures. You can destroy it. Permanently. But doing so requires channeling pure Eclipse energy through the central node. That kind of power will attract the shadow caller. Give him direct access to you. Opportunity to make his offer face to face."
"So I either destroy the network and face corruption. Or leave it active and watch people die."
"Exactly. Impossible choice. Perfect trial."
Miguel steps forward. "But you don't have to face it alone. I can help. Teach you techniques to anchor my essence more effectively during combat."
"I already know how to channel your support."
"But I can teach you to do it instinctively. Without conscious thought. So even under pressure, under temptation, under corruption's influence, my love remains. Anchoring you. Reminding you who you are."
We spend hours practicing. Miguel showing me subtle techniques. Ways to weave his essence through my magic permanently. Not just temporary channeling. Permanent integration.
By the time we finish, I can feel him constantly. Always present. Always supportive.
Not controlling. Not overwhelming. Just there. A steady reminder of love that transcends death.
"That's perfect," Miguel says. "Even the shadow caller can't corrupt that. Can't break that connection. Because it's built on love. And love is the only thing stronger than corruption."
The goddess adds, "Your powers are key. But your heart is the lock. Remember that tomorrow. When everything seems lost. When corruption seems like the only answer. Your heart knows the truth. Trust it."
She gestures, and visions appear. Showing me tomorrow.
I see the attack. Enhanced creatures breaking through wards. Rogues overwhelming defenses. Students fighting desperately.
I see Cassandra's Circle. Watching from shadows. Not helping. Waiting for me to fail.
I see the rune network. Central node glowing in the forest. Calling to me. Demanding I destroy it.
And I see the shadow caller. Fully manifested. Real. Present. Making his offer. Showing me visions of power. Of saving everyone. Of being unstoppable.
All I have to do is accept. Choose corruption. Become what he wants.
The visions show multiple outcomes. Multiple futures.
In some, I resist. Maintain purity. But people die. My pack suffers. The Academy falls.
In others, I accept. Gain power. Save everyone. But lose myself. Become corrupted. Exactly what the Council fears.
In a few, I find a middle path. Some way to be powerful without being corrupted. But those futures are narrow. Unlikely. Require perfect execution.
"Those are the paths to focus on," the goddess says. "The narrow ones. The difficult ones. Where you stay yourself while still being powerful enough to matter."
"How do I find them?"
"By remembering what Miguel just taught you. By trusting your pack. By believing you're enough without corruption enhancing you."
The visions fade. And I'm left with the weight of tomorrow's impossibility.
"I should go," I say. "Get what rest I can before the attack."
"Luna, wait," Miguel says. "One more thing. Tomorrow, when you're facing the shadow caller. When he shows you everything you could have. Remember this moment. Remember that I love you. That I believe in you. That you're already everything you need to be."
"I'll remember."
"Promise me."
"I promise."
The goddess speaks one final time. "Survive tomorrow, and you'll have passed the trial of power. Failed, and you'll join the shadow caller in corruption. Or death. There is no middle ground."
"I understand."
"Good. Then go. Prepare. Tomorrow you become what you were meant to be. Or you become a warning for future Eclipse wolves. The choice is yours."
I pull back to the living world. Gasping. Shaking.
Dawn is breaking. I slept without realizing. The otherworld visit providing rest my body desperately needed.
But something is different. I look down at my arm.
There's a mark. Faint. Glowing. On my forearm. Wasn't there before.
A symbol. Crescent moon surrounded by stars. Pulsing with gentle silver light.
"What is this?" I whisper.
I can feel it. Connected to my Eclipse mark. But separate. Additional.
And it's glowing ominously. Like a countdown. Or a warning.
Or a target.
Nova wakes up. Sees it immediately.
"Luna. What is that on your arm?"
"I don't know. It appeared overnight. During the otherworld visit."
"It's beautiful. But also kind of scary."
"Yeah. Both of those things."
The mark pulses. Stronger. Like it's responding to attention.
And I hear it. Faint. Distant. The shadow caller's voice.
"Marked twice now. By goddess and by destiny. Tomorrow, little Eclipse. Tomorrow we'll see which mark you truly serve."
Then silence.
The mark continues pulsing. Steady. Ominous. Counting down to something.
To the trial. To the confrontation. To the moment where I choose who I am.
And I have no idea if I'm ready.
But ready or not, it's coming.
In hours. Not days. Hours.
And everything I am. Everything I've built. Everything I believe.
Will be tested. Challenged. Pushed to breaking.
And I'll either emerge stronger. Or I won't emerge at all.
