186: What Just Happened? (Lucky's POV - NSFW)
By the time I had finished going over all of the schematics Kelley had given me, Wyatt still wasn’t done with his patrol and training sessions. I had taken Nolan to the dining hall for dinner, and we’d eaten with a few wolves who were confident enough to sit beside me and strike up casual conversation. After dinner, I’d taken him upstairs and colored a few pictures with him. At around eight, we went through the bath time and bedtime routine, finishing with me reading Nolan a short story. As per usual, he fell asleep in my arms, and I had to finagle him off of me and onto the mattress.

I’d slowly left his room, cracking the door behind me. My bare feet padded against the cold floor as I quickly made my way to Wyatt and I’s room. I clicked the door shut behind me and nearly jumped out of my skin. My heart thudded in my chest as I brought my hand up to rest on it, heaving in breaths. Wyatt was lying on our bed, an amused smile on his face.

He was in gray sweatpants and a black shirt, with his ankles crossed and his feet bare. There were several papers in his hands that he laid on his chest. I ran my hand through my loose hair. While I should be grateful he was here, there was a large part of me that had been hoping I could avoid the conversation about Spencer until the morning. Unfortunately, I wore my unease on my face.

I knew this because his own smile fell as he looked at me. My hand shook as it dropped down to my side, and my mouth went dry. Wyatt’s eyes narrowed at my shaking hand, then bounced back up to my gaze. The papers rustled as he tossed them onto his nightstand and tossed his legs over the side of the bed. I bit my lip and looked down at the ground. My knees felt slightly weak as he approached, my nerves making my body shiver as if I was cold.

Wyatt sniffed the air as he approached. He reached me and hooked a finger under my chin, dragging my eyes back up to his, “What’s wrong, mate?”

After a moment of hesitation, I rushed out, “Spencer stopped by my office today.” his hand dropped from my chin, and I fought the urge to reach for him. “He wants to spend time with Nolan.” He took a step back from me, and I furrowed my eyebrows. I pursed my lips, averting my gaze from his, “And I think we should let him.”

“What?” Wyatt’s voice was flat.

“Don’t make me repeat that,” I plead with him, trying to reach for his hand. He pulled it further away, taking another step back from me. “Wyatt,” I tried again, tears brimming in my eyes as he yanked his hand from my reach once more, “Listen to me. It isn’t that I trust him, because I don’t. But, he is Nolan’s father and—” I trailed off, sucking in a deep breath, “We’re both targets of the Elder Council. Probably public enemy number one and number two.”

“And you don’t think we can protect him?” he snapped, the sharp scent of lemons wafting off of him, “Or what? You think that if something happens to us, Spencer is the best option?” Wyatt took a slow step toward me, and I instinctively took one back from him. “Tell me, Wrenlee,” another step forward was taken by him, another one back by me. My back pressed against the door behind me, and I gulped. His voice lowered to a whisper, laced with the promise of violence, “What is your reasoning?”

There was a thick tension in the air. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as Reika stirred in my mind. A low growl emitted from Wyatt’s chest as he waited for me to respond. His eyes were somewhere between gold and brown. His wolf, Lyall, and he were in perfectly equal control. There was no response I could give to this that was going to end well.

I let out a shallow, shaky breath and placed my palms flat on the door behind me, “You know what? Why don’t we just forget this and move on? I’ll tell Spencer no and that’s that.”

A slow, dangerous smile pulled up the corners of Wyatt’s mouth. His eyes darkened as he looked down at me. He reached down and trailed a finger along my jaw line, “No, love. That’s not that.” Wyatt narrowed his eyes as I attempted to side-step away from him. His hands gripped my biceps and slammed my back into the door, pinning me in place, “Your reason, Wrenlee. Or I’ll assume the worst and go kill him now.”

The worst? What the hell could he possibly think was my reason? Reika growled in my mind, The idiot probably thinks you’re doing this out of love for Spencer. He’s jealous.

“Wyatt, you have nothing to be jealous about,” I tried to shove him off of me, but he just applied more pressure. “It isn’t that I think Spencer is the only option if something happens to us,” I tried to explain, fighting against his grip, “It’s that I think Nolan deserves to have one of his parents still around if it does, and that won’t happen if you and I don’t do something to solidify that relationship now.”

Some of the gold faded from his eyes. They flicked to my lips and back up. Wyatt licked his own lips, slowly leaning down. Lemon turned to nutmeg and maple as he pressed his lips to mine. I wanted to fight it, but my body responded immediately. Moments later, we were a mess of flailing hands and wandering lips. Clothes went flying around the room. We were naked within a minute.

Wyatt worked his lips against mine, tongue roughly and messily dueling with mine. His hand hiked up one of my legs as my own tangled in his hair. I gasped as he sank his cock into me, filling me. His rhythm was carnal, savagely building me to my peak. We both came in a flurry of gasped breaths and racing hearts. He pulled out of me and released me, turning his back on me.

I blinked, watching as he slowly padded toward the bathroom. As he reached the doorway, he turned to look at me. The evidence of our quick fucking was still slick on his cock. He nodded slowly and ran a hand through his hair.

“Alright, Wrenlee. Tell Spencer that as long as one of us is with him, he can see Nolan.” Wyatt shrugged, “While we’re on the topic of Nolan and all that,” brown eyes met mine with an intensity I’d never seen in them before, “I’d like to have more pups in the future. I know we haven’t had that conversation, so I’m opening that door for when you’re ready.”

My mate spun and walked into the bathroom. I found myself standing in our room, naked and wondering what the fuck had just happened.
